World Title match at DX

So i was thinking to myself that they sucked this up big time.

Abyss vs. AJ Styles

Now i know that Abyss is Hogan's lover boy but seriously they should of given this main event to "The Pope" Deangelo Dinero. I thought that the pope could of been built up as a super babyface and it would have been a great feud taht could of lasted more than one ppv and it would of had good matches. Idk

Why would they book "The Pope" into a world title match a PPV before the title match that he earned at the PPV prior? The whole point of the 8 card stud tournament was to name a #1 contender for Lockdown. And obviously they're not going to leave the world champion off the PPV, so they're just having this to fill time between now and the World Title match at Lockdown. Makes plenty of sense if you ACTUALLY think about it.

I thought the Pope earned a world title match? Some of the stuff TNA does makes little to no sense. Guys are turning way too quickly, as now EY is a face with Nash, and Beer Money all of a sudden are heels again. Its just weird. Now I just saw that Pope's match is for Lockdown, though it would make most sense for AJ to take Abyss at Lockdown, as thats where the heat is at right now.

Agreed with Pope wrestling the champ at LockDown, and the way things are going now and the momentum Abyss has, there is no reason Abyss shouldn't just get the title shot at DX.

Im going to have to agree and say this is a good move. This gives time for the Pope to heal as well. Besides even the wwe does this, except its with the Elimination Chamber. It gives the oppurtunity to have a different match that no one expects. i dont know how it will all play out, but i must say... the highlight of night.... STING AS A HEEL!!!!! Lets make it work this time, or make it a really really great swerve against AJ and Flair.....

But the heat with Abyss is RIGHT now. Why would they have all this going on then randomly have AJ defend against someone that isn't involved in any of this angle?

I believe right after the PPV that "the pope" is going to step up and become the center of attention until Lockdown. Now, I believe that it should definately set up a feud for a few months after Lockdown, but obviously TNA knows where it's going with all this so just wait it out.

Well then Pope better go over at Lockdown. We know that AJ's going over Abyss somehow at DX. In order to continue his run as a top contender, it's imperative that Pope beats AJ, or else he will probably become an after thought. A superstar with all that build up for nothing. It would make a lot of sense too. Lockdown is TNA's second biggest pay-per-view of the year, so why not give it a happy ending with the man formerly known as Elijah Burke celebrating in the ring as new TNA World Champion. Plus, AJ has held the title for roughly six months now. By today's standards, that is a great title reign, and in my eyes it definitely out shined all of his previous NWA Championship reigns. So yeah Huxley, I see where you're coming from about present heat, I'm just saying if Pope/AJ is set for Lockdown then Pope better go over in order to stay over.

Oh, I totally agree. I'd love to see Pope go over. I'm not totally digging this "pope being hurt and still trying to stay involved" thing that's been going on, and I'm hoping he jumps to the moon and back after Destination X. I'd love to see him take the title off AJ and cement himself in the main event. Honestly, that guy gets more of a reaction in the iMPACT zone than Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair combined. He's hugely over and they'd be stupid to let him fade into obscurity. Just because I agree with Abyss vs. AJ for Destination X, doesn't mean I want Abyss to win, or Pope to be forgotten about. I'd love for Pope to take the title.

I think the thing most significant about Pope possibly standing tall at Lockdown is that the pay-per-view itself is going to be like a checkpoint for TNA. TNA will have shown signs of improvement since the Hogan era began, and if the show ends with the guy who was once proclaimed on national television by Vince McMahon himself to be the face of the new ECW standing tall, WWE is going to be kicking themselves for letting Pope go.

I was curious as to why Abyss jumped over Pope, but then I realized I had forgotten that Pope earned a title match at Lockdown, not DX. It wouldn't have made much sense to build this Hogan/Abyss/AJ/Flair feud to just have it end in an AJ/Pope match.

This thread makes me sad to be a wrestling fan. Apparently the cool thing to do now is just read the results, not actually even WATCH THE FUCKING SHOW, and then shit all over it directly afterwards for trivial shit that if you had actually WATCHED THE FUCKING SHOW would have been explained to you quite easily (like the Pope's title shot being at Lockdown, not Destination X, which they have been repeating for the last few weeks every fucking time Pope shows up on screen).

Seriously people, THINK before posting. Makes absolutely 100% PERFECT sense for Styles to take on Abyss right now, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just being a snobbish cunt. Those two had a GREAT match a few years back at Lockdown, no reason they can't again.
