World Beer Drinking Champion!

So I was looking for something regarding TNA on Wikipedia. When I scrolled to the part where it lists their Championships, it had a World Beer Drinking Championship. I laughed my ass off and thought if you hadn't noticed it before, you might find it funny as well.

I remember the whole angle and watching it. But, it never occurred to me, it would be on Wikipedia or anything like that. It lists James Storm, of course, as the Champion and lists Eric Young as the previous Champion.

Even though it is listed under "Unsanctioned", it does NOT take away the fact that it was amusing.

Anyway... Thoughts on it? Should James Storm wear a shirt or something to sort of promote it again?

I know he is all about beer basically every time he has TV Time. But it would seem to me to be the sort of thing TNA would promote, especially when it comes to James Storm. If they (TNA) or Storm have said anything about it lately or anything, I definitely missed it. Because I had forgotten all about this from when it happened back in 08, till now.

Now that he's face, I could see him bringing it back for a little humor. Maybe challenge Matt Hardy for the belt. Oh, wait, nobody would want Storm to lose...... scratch that.

I personally thought the bit was hilarious. Actually, I think that was the bit that got me into TNA originally. I marked out pretty big when Eric Young won it because my gullible 13-year-old brain thought it was a real title that had been around for a couple years. TNA could bring it back for a few shits and giggles if they wanted to. That, and the motorized cooler Storm used to ride to the ring on. When he rides down to the bottom of the ramp, he could pull a beer and the belt out and defend the belt against a member of Fourtune or something. That would be pretty fun to watch, I think.

I liked it,it was comedy gold,but as of now i say no. If he ever broke out on his own i would say yes 100% but him being with beer money and being part of The Immortal Rebelion it just doesnt fit. If he ever went solo and went with a modern day stone cold gimmick, it could be his version of the smoking skull.

Well he could bring back the gimmick. Like a previous poster said now that he is face he could do a Stone Cold Steve Austin\Sandman type of gimmick. The only thing is Tna would be accused of copying the WWE

My absolute favorite part of the angle was the belt was literally a small plastic version of the WWE Spinner belt that they probably just picked up Walmart. The took the WWE logo off, attached a beer bottle with spinning capabilities, then threw that sucker on TV. So damn funny, I died laughing every time I saw it. I bet the whole thing started as joke, and it was probably to the credit of Storm and Young who decided that if this was the crap they were gonna make em do, that they'd make the most of it. I remember it capping off with a ladder match on iMPACT, and they even added depth to the angle with Storm being scared of heights and what not. Good stuff.

Why am I only just hearing of this angle? Someone, anyone, please give me a link to this stuff.

Anyway, it'd be kinda funny, but it'd depend on how it was done really, and whether or not the fans could take to it as a singles thing.

It is kinda funny and from the looks of it, Storm has been in training to retake the title. The dude is getting fat. People have been making fun of Matt Hardy (including myself) for his weight issues but I seriously think Storm needs to try incorporating some water into his diet lol. I can't possibly be the only one to have noticed this.

I remember this title lol. loved the whole EY/storm angle leading up to that drinking contest for the title lol too funny, I loved it

I was watching TNA when this was going on. It just didn't do much for me. I'm not someone that really likes a lot of comedy in wrestling. Stuff like this or dance offs or Hornswoggle wrestling, Eric Young running around screaming he has brain damage, etc. just don't tickle my funny bone.

I just never found Eric Young all that funny, still don't to be completely honest. I preferred Eric Young as leader of the World Elite. He's got the ability on the mic and in the ring to be a solid mid-card presence but as TNA's version of Santino, I just never found EY even remotely funny.

The World Beer Drinking Championship is a fairly obscure piece of TNA history and I hope it stays that way.

I remember watching this on iMPACT!
I think when James Storm lost he beat EY's ass afterwards.

It was good for what it was at the time, but there is absolutely no reason to resurrect it right now. Storm is involved in the biggest swerve angle on iMPACT! right now, so there should be absolutely no reason he should slide down to work a comedy angle with someone like Eric Young again, no matter how entertaining this may have been at the time.
