WM30-HOW BADLY WWE MISSED THE BOAT

Pre-Show Stalwart
So with pretty much all the possible matches for WM30 being set or already set in stone:

Card:
Batista vs Orton (wwe title)
Bryan vs HHH
Taker vs Lesnar
Cena vs Bray

I thought back to many months ago, just after wm29 where people were looking at WM30 and seeing it as the big 30th anniversary and dreaming of the possible matches and feuds WWE could create for the fans for this monumental mania, and of course with rumours running rampant and with WWE partly to blame the company could of had a dream card for a 30th anniversary of the biggest wrestling event of all time.

This could of been the one and only time WWE pulled out all aces, and IMO gave the fans the ultimate spectacle...

Rumoured/suggested matches (with promo's)

Now after watching the promo packages and reflecting back to earlier do you feel let down by this years Mania card??

It's hard to say that they've 'missed the boat' and then cite Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Sting and The Rock as the reasons. Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin are retired, while The Rock has other commitments; if they never threw their hats into the ring then what's WWE to do? Maybe Sting could have been signed on for the event, who knows, but even then Undertaker/Sting isn't a particularly attractive prospect to me.

As things stand, the only thing that I feel let down by is one of the most uninspiring WWE Championship matches at Wrestlemania ever. The rest of the card is shaping up very nicely.

That would've been one hell of a card. But it was never going to happen. HBK & Austin are retired, Sting still hasn't signed with WWE and that rumour will pop up every year for the next decade, even when they're both retired. After you didn't hear a peep off The Rock to promote WWE2K14 on TV, it was obvious he wouldn't be back at Mnaia this year.

Still, it looks like WWE are going to put on a great card anyway.

I think it would've been great to see HBK vs. Bryan and, allegedly, WWE officials did want the match to happen but they left it up to HBK to decide. Michaels obviously decided to pass on it, preferring to stay retired after his 2nd loss to Taker at WrestleMania 26. So, if the guy doesn't wanna wrestle, then that's all there is to that.

As for Austin vs. Punk, Austin has repeatedly said that he doesn't want to wrestle again. He's almost 50 and hasn't been in a match in well over a decade. Recently, a report came out in which Austin stated that he hurt himself a few years back while filming Tough Enough. He stated that he went into the ring and fooled around a little, got banged up, and that it "opened" his eyes once and for all. If that's true, then Austin's days are long since over.

Sting vs. Taker would've been an interesting match but, allegedly, Sting still hasn't signed with WWE. I'm not sure what the deal is, if WWE just isn't in a rush to sign him, if Sting's dragging his feet or what. Bottom line is that, last anyone has reported, he hasn't officially signed on.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock for the title would probably be crapped all over by the fans. Some would see it as nothing more than a clash of highly paid mercenaries who don't really "need" WWE. Besides that, how're you gonna have a part timer and/or special attraction as WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Lesnar will probably disappear after WrestleMania, or at least after Extreme Rules, and we probably won't see him again until SummerSlam. The Rock would also be gone right after WrestleMania, so how could it be for the title? Furthermore, The Rock's injury last year has gotten him to rethink his participation as an in-ring guy. He has a lucrative movie career going, so a serious injury could have long term consequences, depending upon the injury of course. Finally, The Rock's schedule is extremely busy. He put out 5 movies last year, he's been filming Hercules, he's allegedly in talks to play the Green Lantern in an upcoming movie, there's talk of doing an Achilles spin-off from the Hercules flick since The Rock appears as Achilles in the film as well, he has a show that's been picked up by HBO, I think and he has a reality show that airs on TNT sometime. If The Rock's too busy or doesn't simply wanna wrestle anymore, that's that.

As for Cena vs. Triple H, why? There's no real reason for them to feud and there hasn't been for a very long time. We've seen Cena vs. Triple H many times in years past, so why rehash it? You see the response that Orton vs. Batista has gotten, it's just not a match that fans wanna see, which is probably why it's still gonna be turned into a triple threat bout featuring Daniel Bryan. Otherwise, why would WWE bother having Bryan interact with Orton & Batista?

When I look at Taker vs. Lesnar, I see a match that a lot of people wanna see; one that a lot have fantasy booked or talked about since Lesnar came back. While I'm personally worried that Taker might get injured, it's still a big money match.

As for Bryan vs. Triple H, how're you gonna make future stars to carry the company if you don't use golden opportunities to elevate them? A victory for Bryan over Triple H would be huge for him and the same thing goes for Cena vs. Wyatt. A lot of people say they want to see fresher faces and younger guys elevated, well here are two prime opportunities for two extremely over guys to do just that.

This thread is DUMB. This is your typical bash WWE for no reason while playing fantasy booker thread. 4 of the OP's matches were NEVER going to happen and aren't even logical. HBK and Austin are retired, Sting isnt in the WWE and never has been, and we've known since last year that Rock wasn't going to be wrestling this year, plus, who the hell wants to see John Cena vs HHH?

To answer your question....am I disappointed at this years WM card based off of your idiotic fantasy booking and forcing people out of retirement? No not really

I agree that this is a very left field card for such a huge milestone wrestle-mania, but apart from the shitty world title match it's actually okay, the problem is the Batista situation since the Royal Rumble has negatively tainted our opinion of the rest of XXX.

I guarantee that if Bryan had actually won the Rumble, we'd all be a lot more positive about this Mania right now.

HBK has retired for good. I don't know why people keep bringing this up all the time. He has stated categorically that he is done in the ring. Having him come back would only tarnish his legacy. After the injuries he sustained at WM29 The Rock has also stated that his in-ring career is pretty much over. We don't know if Sting even signed with the WWE.

One thing I would have done differently is that I would have done Cena vs Taker at WM30 since this is a milestone WM.

I would have also had Brock destroy everyone in the Elimination Chamber and win the WWE title at Minneapolis and then drop it to Daniel Bryan in a Fatal-4-Way in the main event of WM30, also involving Orton and Batista.

I wouldn't say that dream card is "the boat", but the current card doesn't have me too excited with the exception of UT/Lesnar. DB/HHH will probably be very good and they still have a few weeks to get me more excited about it. Last week's closing segment was a good start.

Still though, I would have loved to have HBK/DB.

I am one of the biggest Undertaker marks ever, but I just don't care about this year's Streak match, because I know that Taker will retain the Streak, I hope so anyway, Brock doesn't deserve to be "the one" IMO.

Until the time CM Punk left, I was actually hoping in terms of making WM30 an absolute Blockbuster that it should be, that both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan would come full circle from the initial Wyatt family attack and both would have gone after the Authority.

In the end; it would result in CM Punk vs HHH and Daniel Bryan vs HBK.

Obviously that all changed when Punk left.

Thus the card being rumoured in terms of Main Bouts is pretty logical judging by which Superstars are available.

I just hope the Shield are put into a Triple threat as initially rumoured, because the alternatives mentioned SUCK Big-Time!
