Will Xbox 720 be backward compatible?

Or will it be like the clusterfuck that was backward compatibility between 360 and the original Xbox, with only a handful of games, none of which I actually owned at the time, being compatible?

I have a LOT of Xbox 360 games in my collection, and I plan to upgrade to Xbox 720 when it comes out, but will I have to sell all my original games and Kinect hardware etc to purchase Xbox 720 games and hardware?

I would like to think they would make the hit games compatible when the new generation of consoles comes out, but with the recent trend of remaking classic games and selling them at a $30-40 price tag would they really bother with making it backwards compatible? Video Game Developers are making more money remastering their old games to have something as simple as tweaking with the software to allow backwards compatibility.

Though in the end, this is all just merely speculation. Neither Sony or Microsoft have announced the next generation of consoles yet, and personally I don't think we will see any sort of information about the new consoles leaked toward the end of 2013.
