Will The WWE Ever Crown A New Undisputed Champion

I was watching the WWe championship dvd today and watched the two matches that led to Y2J becoming the 1st undsisputed championship.
My 1st question is will this ever happen again? personally I hope so but leave the ecw title out of it . My next question is when is a good ppv to do this at ?ex( a big one like summer slam or ss or the smaller ones like noc or backlash. I think that if the wwe were to do this again they should do it at NOC.
And my last question is who should be the nex one ? personally I think Y2j should get it again to bring us back to the good ole days .... What are yalls thoughts on this ?

If they would let the champion carry both belts I would like it. I liked how Jericho got to carry both belts, but when trips won he got that stupid looking undisputed belt. They should of just left it with the champion carrying 2 belts, and he can defend each at different times. As far as undisputed champion goes I would like Randy Orton to win it, I am biased he's my favorite wrestler and by my nickname on her obviously. Right now he is the best bet for the future of the business, it wouldn't make sense to give it to a veteran like the undertaker, HBK, Jericho, or trips again because they are on the downside of their career.

I don't think they will ever do this b/c they want each show to have their own Champs, but it still is an interesting question.

If they were to do this it would happen at Mania or SummerSlam

If they were to do this something tells me THE GAME would make sure he was the first Undisputed Champion now.

I haven't posted in quite some time but this thread really caught my eye.

If they did this I would have to agree on having them do it/ start it at Night Of Champions because it would make the most sense, IMO. I think they should give it to someone who has been a world champion before but not a veteran (Taker, HBK, HHH, Jericho etc.), they should give it to someone who is the future (Orton, Edge, Batista, or even Big Show). If I got to choose who the Undisputed Champion would be, it would have to easily be Randy Orton because he is THE future of the business. He is only 28 and has held World Titles 3 times, World Tag Titles 1 time, Intercontinental Title 1 time, and won the 2009 Royal Rumble. That is a pretty good running over a 7 year span (considering he is not a very large wrestler).

They only did it to get rid of the WCW belt, both in and out of kayfabe. Now that they need a Raw and Smackdown belt, they won't do it. Remember, a few years ago they could've done it with RVD, but they made a different ECW Championship belt and he lost it. I would say that technically he was one, since he had two belts.

Actually, that's what they could do. Instead, they could have a guy win the two championships but not combine them. So he would have to defend them on both shows. That would be interesting. I wish they'd do that for Taker, so he could be an eight-time champ.

Not in the forseeable future, but it could happen.
As long as it's not Edge or Triple H it would be pretty cool.

Actually, it'd be hilarious if it was Jericho again. And he beat Batista and Cena in the same night :lmao:

I don't think we will see one of the two titles abandoned for quite some time, I kind of like the way the titles are now, but at the same time having only 1 World Championship would bring more order to things. I guess I am indifferent but I kind of like the 2 World Championships right now, it reminds me of WCW in the ealy 90's when they had the NWA and WCW World Heavyweight Championships and then the International World Heavyweight Championship.

As it pertains to the ECW Championship, I hardly even consider it a real title and I certainly don't recognize it as a "world" title.

Yea I agree I dont see WWE unifying the titles at all. There was some hope for it at No Way Out and I kind of thought it might happen, but doesnt look that way anymore. There could be some culmination with HHH, Orton, Cena, and Edge at Night of Champions that could pit all four against eachother with the two titles on the line, but not likeley given the direction that HHH will end up on Raw and Cena to Smackdown. Also given the plethora of main event talent the WWE has on its roster and the unfortunately diminishing U.S. and I.C. belts (although the I.C. title picture seems to be improving) I dont see how the creative team could work with just one World Title.
Sidenote: Concerning the ECW title its not a World Title in my eyes or wrestlings and to be honest the current belt their using no matter who holds it doesn't seem to be viable enough to be considered a World Title for a couple reasons; its silver first off, I'm around 5'8 and I always joke with my friends that the belts bigger than I am because it was made to fit Mark Henry. Besides that ECW seems to be getting better for a place with some young talent I have been an avid viewer for the past 3 weeks (Christian!) and with Christian and Swagger fighting for the title the belts can gain some prestige, but I always see ECW as a show for the younger talent to prove they can make it on Raw or Smackdown.

While I don't see it happening for quite some time one thing everyone knows about the wrestling business is never say never. The way guys are appearing on all shows now more frequently than they were a few years ago makes it more likely that it could happen but still I wouldn't look for it to happen for quite some time. As far as who it should be goes it's tough to say, it should go to a newer younger main eventer so now a good candidate would be Orton but if it doesn't happen for some time no one knows who will be new to the main event scene then.

I think that is the direction the WWE is heading. This is the second time in less that a year that both belts have wound up on SD! guys at the end of a PPV.

The WWE is probably feeling the economic pinch as much as everyone else. The benefits for the company are the no one is going on vacation, so a trip to house show or a purchased PPV is not out of line for a family night. However, merchandise sales have to be faltering. Plus, maintaining two touring companies has got to be expensive. The WWE roster has been trimmed considerably of late, and there has to be a reason. I believe that reason is there is going to be one show soon. They will have two TV shows a week, but one group, like the old days. I believe the catalyst, story-wise, will be an Edge vs. HHH reunification match. After that, there will be a Raw InVasion.

I love this idea. I want the WWE to eliminate the split brands. It will give us a tag division, increase the prestige of the IC belt in that guys who aren't in the main event are going to need something to do, it will allow for non title feuds.

The non title feuds are a big deal to me. HBK/Jericho was non title until the last match, and it was an excellent feud. When a belt is involved, that is the motivation for the feud, and creative doesn't have to give us much of a story. No belt equals more effort from creative. I would like to see them try harder. Once they have one good non title feud, maybe they will be confident enough to not rehash the old story lines again and again.

i pray they do.....i mean the ic title and us title could unfiy too and make the titles more prestige....and the feuds.....i mean u could see undertaker vs. hbk or hhh or anyone .....and if they did there could only be three.....edge, orton, or jerico....edge could get it by using his schemes to make his character look that much better....jerico would get more heat i mean think he wont brag bout doing it again espicially if he beat say batista and cena the two biggest faces in the company......and orton well because right now he's the best in the world......and the future of the company....i pray it happens

obviously, while there are two brands, they'll always be two champions. if the brand extension were to collapse, then i can see where they would combine them all into one world title, unify IC & US, tags, women's etc.

now i can see a scenario where one man holding both titles would be entertaining. and it would be great if Jericho did it again. he certainly is deserving. Edge is another who would be amazingly over-the-top in that role. it seems that a babyface would have a hard time pulling it off, let alone HHH or Cena who the fans would crucify.

but it would work best as when jericho did it back in the day, one man with two belts. keeping lineage and history separate.

I think this obviously will happen sometime. They've already hinted at unifying the tag titles...which I think will happen at Wrestlemania. But WWE has proven many times that it is willing to do whatever to increase ratings. If ratings would boost because of a unified world title...you have to believe they will pursue that.

However, I don't see this happening anytime in the IMMEDIATE future, as the brand split seems to be still in full swing (though edge/cena and trips/orton seem to be pulling double duty). Furthermore, with the excess of previously determined "main-event" caliber talent, it would leave an overload of talent in the upper-mid-card range that could be problematic:

a) these lesser main-eventers could prevent up and comers from getting camera-time that they need to thrive.

b) the lesser main-eventers might start getting cut from cards altogether...as if WWE doesn't push new guys...there will just be incest amongst the cards and it would essentially become WCW.

This is my first post here, and I have to say I picked a good one. For the amount of years that I have been watching wrestling, I can say I am traditional. I agree with the fact that with the brand splits, it HAS made new superstars, alas Randy Orton, Cena, Rey, Edge, etc. BUt the traditional part of me was always bothered with all the titles. The title is why they are there. Up an coming superstars would fight non-title fueds to earn the right to fight for the I-C belt. They would do it a few times, and say that its time to go for the big one, the WWE Championship. I respect all the original titles including the Us and the world becuase they do have a background, but now a days, anyone can go for any title, and if they can't, they'll just switch brands and go for there titles. So I agree, unifying not only the world title, but also the I-C and US, both tags and womens. Then we can have it back the way it should be. Superstars entertaining us fans with incredible matches, eventuall earning the oppurtunity to fight the championship in which ever division they are in:

WWE Cruiserweight Championship (for all young up an commers)
WWE Womens Championship
WWE Tag Team Championship
WWE Intercontinential Championship
WWE Championship

Thats the way I hope for!!

As long as the brand extension exists I don't think they will unify the championships. However if it were to happen here is my own suggestion: I call it a Triple Triple Threat Match. Each championship is defended in a triple threat match (ECW, WHC & WWE). The winners of each triple threat match to emerge as champions then compete in Triple Threat Unification match to unify all of the belts. I'd like to see Christian v Swagger v Bourne for the ECW match, Jericho v Punk v Jeff for the WHC & Orton v Trips v MVP for the WWE. I'd like to see Jericho walk out as the Undisputed champ. Would be a great platform for him to say he'd unified all the world titles again.

I couldn't see it happening in the near future because with two world titles, it gives more guys opportunities to become main eventers. If we had just 1 world title, we would see the same guys always fighting for it.(we still see that with two for some reason but sometimes with a different champion).
If it were to happen it will probably happen at Wrestlemania. As for the superstar i could see 1 of these 4 becoming the undisputed champion. HHH, Cena, Edge, or Orton.

There was a post a while back on the WZ main site, stating that the current plan calls for the 2 belts to be fused once again at Mania 26.

I would not mind seeing the WWE Title and the World Title unified again, this time with the ECW Title. I love the idea of keeping them as separate Titles that the Champ can defend one, two or all three at a time, if he so chooses. I am biased toward Jericho winning the honor again. Night Of Champions seems like a best possible PPV for this event to take place. I would not, however, make it the same “4 Men, 3 Matches, 2 Titles, 1 Undisputed Champion” tournament like 2001’s. Instead, I would rather see a 16 Man / 4 Round Raw tournament where the winner faces the WWE Champion at NOC, and the same for Smackdown where the winner faces the World Champion, and the same for ECW where the winner faces the ECW Champion. After that, a Triple Threat, Winner Take All, Champion of Champions Unification Match. I’m not too sure who I would put in this match with Jericho, but I think I’m going to go with Triple H and John Cena, as close to today’s version of Stone Cold and the Rock as it’s going to get…I think.

I don't think it will happen just because then main event scene is crowded. Off the top of my head you have Orton, HHH, Cena, Big Show, Batista, Edge, Jericho, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk(he has MITB), and the two guys who are out, Undertaker and HBK you have 11 Main eventers. With one undisputed champion you would have 10 guys in the Main event scene with no titles between any of them. 2 or 3 guys will always chase at a time with #1 conteder matches or triple threats but it leaves you with 7-8 guys in the main event with no title matches or rotating title shots. No Chance it happens.

Now that I have answered the question, on to what I'd like to see. Id like to see it happen because I am sick of not knowing who the top dog really is. I always look at WWE title as THE CHAMPIONSHIP, but there are times where the bigger star has the world title and the lesser star has the wwe title. If it were to happen it would definately not be at a Wrestlemania because they unified it before and it was done at Armageddon. The best way (according to me) would have to be at Summerslam and give the title to Randy Orton. Undisputed Champ is a role best done by a heel and being that Edge has a problem with holding on to belts and Y2J has already been the Undisputed Champ and Big Show is pretty much done with titles it would leave you with Orton. It would definately work with Y2J of course but Orton is the biggest right now that he has ever been and now is the time to let him explode.

If they ever unified the titles, it would go to Triple H or John Cena... to my memory had trips not been out with a torn quad he would probably have been in the mix the first time it happened.

I dont think they should unite them whilst the brand extension exists as i think the brands should effectively be run like 2 rival copm, panies but under the same umbrella.

This is my first post. I think it would be excellent if they did this but it'd have to be done very well.

I think the belts should go to Cena at SummerSlam. Before all the Cena haters get annoyed with this read my idea for the storyline. He'd become arrogant and consider himself better than every other superstar in the WWE. This'd go on for a while with even the top stars not being able to beat him. Then at WrestleMania someone like MVP would get their big break and beat him for the titles becoming the new champ and the ultimate heel killer.

Not unless they ever un seperate the brands. I love the idea of a unified title as much as anyone on these boards, but its just not realistic if they have spereated brands, becuase you can really only run one heavyweight title feud at a time. If for instance, Cena is the unified champ, and is feuding with a contender from say, ECW, then what the fuck will RAW and SD! be about? nothing? Unless they TOTALLY reallign the way they do things, or how they book, then it will never work.
