First things first, here's a small recap of when we last saw Mr. Anderson:
Last week on Impact Wrestling, we saw that Mr. Anderson was Sting's (and Hogan's) first choice to help fight Aces & Eights this Sunday. However when Anderson's name was announced in the ring (by either Hogan or Sting, I don't remember which), we saw Anderson in the backstage area beaten to a bloody pulp. Of course, that's when the Bully hit the ring and became Sting's partner for BFG.
There's been a lot of speculation about whether or not Bully can be trusted as Sting's partner this Sunday. This question has been posed many times by Hogan and Sting on Impact over the last week or so, and also been discussed by members of the IWC. What about Mr. Anderson? Is he just not involved in this feud at all any more because of the beatdown he suffered backstage last week? I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Anderson might show up at BFG this Sunday, during the A&8s vs. Sting/Bully match.
With everyone's eyes on Bully (and whether or not he is the one who everyone almost half-expects to turn on Sting), the A&8 tag match this Sunday would be a perfect opportunity for Anderson to make an appearance. If Anderson does show up during that match (which might not happen at all), I'd bet the farm that he's been the one "on the inside"...and has been working for/with Aces & Eights all along. Knowing the kind of stories TNA has written in the past (especially since the A&8 storyline started a few months back), this seems exactly like the kind of swerve they would pull.
Just hear me out - if this "swerve" happens, it could go down a number of different ways. They could go the way of Bash at the Beach '96, and have Anderson come out towards the end of the match to take the place of an injured Sting or Bully Ray. You know the scenario, Sting or Bully gets "injured" during the match, and it becomes a two-on-one fight for a little while...until, the big "hero" Mr. Anderson comes out to save the day! ...only he turns on his partner, leaves the good guys laying, and raises the hands of the masked men. It turns out Anderson (possibly conspiring with other A&8 members) had faked the beatdown he took last week, only so he could gain the trust of the good guys and turn on them at Bound for Glory.
It could also go the way of the masks getting removed at the end of the match, and Anderson turns out to be one of the A&8 members who competed in the match all along. I don't think that way would work out as well, and it seems more convoluted of an idea...but I'm sure the TNA writers would think they were being really clever by doing something like that as well.
Another way it could go is that Anderson "takes out" one of the A&8 members before the match starts, and impersonates a member of the group. He goes out and fights the match with "The Arm Breaker" (whatever you want to call that guy, he'll obviously be one of the two fighting on behalf of A&8s this Sunday), only to remove the mask toward the end of the match and revealing that "The Arm Breaker" is alone in the ring with three babyfaces. Obviously that scenario wouldn't work, since A&8s have to win the match (and then why would Anderson have even been involved, if he's not there to turn on the good guys?)...but it's an interesting idea to consider, since the entire group is currently wearing masks. Maybe something like that will be something to look out for in the future. That also seems like something TNA/IW might do to try and swerve their fans.
Then, there's the final option. Anderson does NOT show up at Bound for Glory 2012 at all, and all of this speculation on my part has been for absolutely nothing. Instead, Anderson just sits at home selling the Aces & Eights beatdown until he finally returns to Impact for his "payback" on the group. The beating he took last week "really" happened, because A&8s were "afraid" of fighting Mr. Anderson.
The main reason the final option seems unlikely to me, is because I don't think TNA would leave Mr. Anderson off the BFG card entirely if he's healthy and ready to work. Like I said earlier, he's still over in the Impact Zone (or at least the writers seem to think so).
Another reason the final option seems unlikely to me is why would Aces & Eights deliver such a "brutal beating" on Anderson last week, and do nothing to Bully this week? Is it because they were "legitimately" scared of fighting Mr. Anderson (but not Bully)? Is it because Bully is going to turn on Sting, so attacking him would be pointless? ...or is it just because A&8s weren't physically at the Impact Zone this week? I dunno...it seems to me that Bully would be more of a threat than Anderson would have been in this match, so it all just seems fishy.
Maybe I'm reaching here, and we don't see Anderson at all this Sunday. A&8s could definitely win the match (and they obviously will) without the help of someone like Anderson, but there has to be some kind of big reveal that TNA thinks we never would have seen coming. That seems to be their formula for big reveals like this (ie: 10/10/10, etc). If it does happen, the "Bash at the Beach" formula seems the most likely to me.
All in all, someone almost has to turn heel during that match, and it has to be someone who's a "big star" (at least in the minds of TNA creative). Like I mentioned earlier, Bully Ray could have been picked for Sting's partner for the sole reason of throwing us off the scent of the "real" culprit. If that is the way that TNA/IW goes, I feel that Anderson would be a perfect candidate (given the beating we saw him take last week). Then again, this angle has (almost literally) been screaming Jeff Jarrett's name...so maybe the "Bash at the Beach" scenario happens, except with Jarrett - and not Anderson at all.
That's my two cents anyway, what do you think? Will we see Anderson at BFG?
