Why Wrestlemania Will Always Be The WWE's Saving Grace

Pretty obvious thread I know. But I'm talking about the experience that the show provides.

I am from the UK and managed to go to Houston this year for Mania 25. Now although the show was a tad under par (barring of course the awesome Taker Vs Michaels) the experience as a whole was fantastic. I thought the Wrestlemania Axxess part of the weekend was excellent, with notable features such as the Undertakers graveyard of Wrestlemania opponents. All of this adds to the feel of Wrestlemania weekends.

I guess the question that I am posing here is, even with a sometimes poor card, will Wrestlemania always draw BIG? Not just in terms of the gate receipts, but with buyrates too? Because as much as some of the matches on the card sucked, the experience more than made up for it. Will Wrestlemania always be the WWE's saving grace, or will people eventually become tired of the whole concept?

Well... I am in the same boat too. I live in the UK and i have attended the last 4 Wrestlemania's including 25 and the experience has always been fantastic...

I think WWE have made something now that is World Wide known even for non wrestling fans... We even had a big banner in a small town near Manchester here advertising it on PPV so it has obviously picked up popularity.

Lets just hope they will build on the product and produce Wrestlemania's that are of higher quality than Wrestlemania 25 (the HBK v Taker match was just awesome but the overall show was a little flat - Not Bad Though!)

There is always that unknown factor with Wrestlemania where everyones expectations are high so as long as they produce a really amasing show every couple of years they will always keep the fan base.

Bit of a trend growing here, but i have been to every Mania since 17, and I am also from the UK. Now, the difference between WM17's card and WM25's card was huge. The two PPVs are miles apart, yet both still drew big time. This will always happen in my opinion becuase it is the big show for the big company. Short of the main event being Hornswoggle v Chavo, WM will always, always draw big

I am not from the UK, so sorry to butt in here chaps, but Wrestlemania will always be the biggest spectacle in professional wrestling, no matter what brand, company, etc. I have only attended Wrestlemania 13 in Chicago, but those who have been to a WM event can agree that being there live in person is a major thrill and you will witness history. I was live for The Rock and HHH's first WM wins along with Austin and Bret Hart's double turn and the Undertaker's 1st Title Win at WM, so I can honestly say there is nothing like Wrestlemania. In historical WWE perspective, WM is always where big things happen and will continue to do so on a yearly basis, no matter what people think of the current product.

Its such a strange thing for Wrestlemania's these days. I mean, back at WM 15 through 19, there were so many options as far as main event calibre matches, (lest we forget that at WM 18, Austin was pushed down to the mid-card against Scott 'Breathaliser' Hall and The Rock Vs Hogan didn't even finish the show) but it just seems that WM 25 felt as though it had been done before. Don't get me wrong, the Wrestlemania 25 experience was something that I will never forget, and even Triple H Vs Randy Orton found a way of re-inventing itself with their half decent storyline leading to that match, but as far as the actual card, it somewhat felt replicated.

Just to name a few:

Cena Vs Edge Vs Show: Not a terrible match at all, but excluding Show, Cena Vs Edge has been done so many times, and focussing on the storyline aspect of it, Cena should have really had nothing to do with Edge and Show's personal feud (cheating wife etc)

Triple H Vs Orton: Had been done plenty of times before, but a nice storyline leading to the match made it feel a bit more fresh.

Money In The Bank (Featuring Shelton Benjamin...AGAIN): Poor guy, I actually want him to win one. But again, this is usually the freshest match of the night and even this felt a bit funky.

Anyone see a trend. Wrestlemania never used to be like this. I guess its just the monicle that Wrestlemania carries with it now. For all its faults, I still love it!

The fact of the matter is mates [Australian lingo here, so bare with me] that the WWE will always have WrestleMania by its side. It is like the Stephanie McMahon to the Triple H or the Vince McMahon to his grapefruits. Apart from the circumstance that the WWE will die off completely, which I do not see happening at all ever in my lifetime, no matter what happens with the WWE... there will always be a WrestleMania. Say, by freak chance that WWE becomes an indy circuit promotion & they lose all of their PPV's as they could not afford it... which PPV will stay standing? WrestleMania... why? Because the best matches in professional wrestling history usually happen at WM & its legacy will always be etched in the history books. No company can outdo what WrestleMania has achieved for the WWE.
