The Raven's Epitaph
Getting Noticed By Management
Personally, I think having too many commentators can spoil it sometimes. It can be annoying when you're trying to listen to somebody, then a different commentator interupts and you don't get to hear what the other commentator was saying.
It sometimes has it's benefits though. On PPV's it's normally Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. Apparently, not alot of people actually like Striker, which I find hard to believe. I think he's very likeable. He's intelligent, and he's the only commentator that brings up the past and talks about people like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Stone Cold, The Rock, Triple H etc. He's an entertaining commentator.
I don't think much to Todd Grisham, he should just remain as the guy that appears about twice in one WrestleMania to introduce the worst bits of the show. That's all I see him as really, never a commentator. He doesn't have any personality when it comes to commentating and it's literally as if he's just sat there reading from a script.
I liked the combination of Michael Cole and Josh Matthews on NXT3 because it was hillarious how Cole would pretend to be asleep, and Matthews would try his hardest to pretend he didn't want to wake him up. That and the constant giggling whilst commentating on the worst quality matches and making their own signs to pass the time. Cole's mobile calls can be funny aswell, he just up and leaves for about 5 minutes or starts talking to a fan behind him. As much as I don't like Cole, he does his job as a heel announcer perfectly.
Still, I stand by my honest opinion in saying that the greatest announcer of all time is Jim Ross. Nobody will ever surpass the speaking voice in the wrestling industry of JR, the man is a living legend; I just wish he'd come back. He could always replace Todd Grisham on Smackdown, or Michael Cole on Raw. They've been drafted before so I don't see why not.
