Why does everyone have to job at home?

Showtime

It's Showtime!
No seriously. CM Punk just lost in Chicago. Cena lost to Edge in his home state, but then he beat Edge at Edge's hoetown at the next PPV. The list is endless. Why does everyone do the job in the hometown and when was the last time someone won a big match at home? Opinions...

I guess just to make the outcome seem unpredictable. If they always let the hometown hero win, it becomes far too obvious who will win a match.

There really shouldn't be a need to do that with Punk though. It's very on/off on whether he's being booked to win or not, especially as champion. It's difficult to tell, yeah?

Shawn Michaels does not Job in his hometown. Remember Wrestlemania? But as far as I know Shawn is about the only one

The 2007 Royal Rumble (in San Antonio) came down to HBK & Taker. And while being the last out isn't quite the same as jobbing, it was yet another example of building up something big for the hometown boy just to watch it blow up.

Yea, but when was the last time a hometown boy won. I know you don't want them to always win becuse it makes it predictable, but them always losing also makes it predictable. I remember Edge beating Booker T at Wrestlemania in Toronto, but that wasn't an overly hyped or very important match. Since then, I don't really remmeber anyone winning a big match at home.

Maybe because the WWE doesn't care where each wrestler is from, and instead, just book a logical storyline?

The last big one that I could think of would be Angle winning the title from Austin back in 2001 in Pitt at I believe.......no mercy?

Maybe its because of the fact that they get a big pop when they come out, no matter who it is, and the WWE thinks they should reverse the circumstances.

Punk comes out on Raw and gets a huge pop from being the hometown boy and the champ. A lot of people want him to win. But you make him lose the match and you hope that the fans will be as responsive as they were with the intros. If they root for you to win and you lose, wouldn't they boo the person who beat you? That would help put the idea in the mindset of others that this heel is really someone to hate.

Trouble is, it fades away immediately if it exists at all in the first place. Does anybody really go "well the fans really booed Jericho for beating Punk. I guess that makes him a better heel than before". No. He's doing his job and then-some without that little momentary boost. But I'm POSITIVE that there are some people backstage that would be stupid enough to believe such a thing and would say something like "let's have Snitsky beat Batista in his home town so the fans will start to hate Snitsky and then he can be a main event heel! It has to work! Just like they should be cheering the midget!"

Or it could be a lesson in humility. "You lose when we tell you to lose. Don't give us that hometown bullshit. No excuses. You do what we say."

I'm surprised to not even see mention of the king of getting his ass kicked in his hometown.
Now he's not really a wrestler, but J.R. always has something happen to him at home. Not even his hometown either, just the state of Oklahoma in general. haha
He has been beaten up numerous times, some actually in matches he was involved in; he was made to join the kiss-my-ass club; hell he was even fired!
I fully expect him to win the WWE title during his last visit there before he leaves for real to make up for all of this..ya gotta feel bad for the guy
