Why Do American Parents Choose Soccer?

Well, for parents who are trying to save a few bucks, what equipment is there to buy for your kid if they are playing soccer? Not at the high school level, but pee-wee. At the pee-wee level, all you need to play soccer is a field and a ball. That means mom and dad don't need to buy a glove, a bat, a football uniform, ice skates, or any other kind of equipment. As others have said, soccer lets kids just run around for an hour. It's not like little kids follow the rules or are going to be infracted for offsides or yellow cards, youth soccer is little more than recess.

All these comments about football equipment being cheap, I gotta disagree a little. I remember when I was in school my parents had to shell out for the kit, a decent set of shin pads and some footy boots. That shit ain't necessarily cheap, especially around '94 when Adidas Predator's were all the rage and even in child sizes they'd set you back 90 quid. Ridiculous money in a game.
