Why did Warrior's reign fail?

They cut Warriors legs ouot from under him when he dropped the title at the Rumbl e to Slaughter. The Hogan/Slaughter match did not need the title as it had the whole US/Iraq thing going for it. Warrior should have retained at the Rumble against a different opponet so Slaughter would not be coming off of a loss to fight Hogan. Warrior/Macho should have been the main event as a title/career match. If Warrior would have went over that way he would have still had steam behind his title reign. And by that point you could have had a rematch at SummerSlam between the two where you could think about turning one heel.

While the decison to have him drop the title at the Rumble was the beginning of his downfall, it was his constant departures and reapperances that sealed his fate. He would build up steam and than vanish. For whatever reason, him coming and going was his ultimate doing in.

The Warrior title reign did not fail in my opinion. It got many kids into wrestling that were not there already and gave people someone to cheer for other than Hogan.

In the end, the reign is the only memorable thing in Warrior's career because HE FAILED. He was a lunatic that has never once cared about the wrestling business. And in the end it was his undoing. He could have really taken the ball and ran with it. They put him over fucking Hulk Hogan at WRESTLEMANIA for Christ's sake and he went all crazy on wanting to be the man and whining about money.

There was a HUGE payday in a rematch that just never materialized and should have hands down been the main event at the following WrestleMania, but everyone screwed this whole thing up.

By the time Slaughter beat Warrior, it seemed that he was so concerned with only himself and not doing jobs that a feud with Savage could not even materialize. He was not good enough to carry the company but was DEFINITELY over enough to be a main eventer for 5-10 years if not longer, but he was such a pain in the ass, it was not worth it for WWE to keep him at the top of the card.

The only thing Warrior failed at was living up to the expectation of being the next Hogan.

As we all know now, it took Vince another 8 years to find the next Hogan.

Savage and Warrior... were both big draws at the time, but they were never going to carry the WWF the way Hogan did, and for as long as Hogan did. That's not to say they weren't extremely popular though.

As for Warrior's longevity, everyone's already mentioned it:
1) You can only dominate for so long before people lose interest (hint: Ryback)
2) He didn't appear to have the same passion as you would have wanted out of a top guy. He came and went more times than I can keep track of.
3) He wasn't all that great on the mic or in the ring. Eventually it was exposed.
