Why Blame Punk?

Well, for a thread I created, which was supposed to be in another thread?? Nonetheless, I have sparked something within a few people. Call me John Cena because i'm "Provoking emotion out of the wwe universe." :lmao:

The wwe does not have to come out and say, "we blame cm punk for our low ratings."

the wwe saying they are considering dropping the belt from him says it. that says, "CM PUNK IS NOT THE MAN WE WANT AS CHAMPION BECAUSE OUR RATINGS ARE LOW."

I may be seriously wrong, but even with the rock on the show, ratings didn't just sore through the fucking roof. Some people in wwe may just not be able to stand john cena not being the champion. maybe not? who knows... apparently i'm just an ignorant iwc loser behind a keyboard anyway...:wtf:

Lol... anyyyyyyways. SIMPLE FACT. WWE product is most definitely boring for the most part. I watch, simply because I love wrestling as I have all my life. The three things I want the most, is talent to be utilized properly, storylines to be well created and executed. and the matches to be entertaining.

Does ratings go up with cena as champion? probably not. ziggler? definitely not. kane? no. unless taker shows up and wins the belt..ratings probably wouldn't even go up that much

Just face it wwe, ratings will not be anything like they were when you had UNDERTAKER, KANE, HHH, HBK, KURT ANGLE, STONE COLD, BOOKER T, HOGAN, FLAIR, RVD, HARDY, EDGE, LESNAR, ETC.. those days are gone. the wwe has taken this step in the PG, SOCIAL MEDIA, KID-FAMILY ORIENTED PROGRAMMING. Therefore, they are losing connection to the older fanbase and die-hard wrestling fans. Vince calls all the shots. Essentially, he is the one to blame. Yes he is a wrestling god. No doubt, but when you change your mind so often, lose steam on guys, pretty much waste alot of talent. why wouldn't you take time to build guys instead of fucking kevin nash and hhh wastin tv time and boring me to death. wtf? why can't triple h just fucking let it go??:banghead:

IF(and it's a huge if)WWE believes that, they are hypocrites. The ratings fluctuate all the time. No one person can be blamed.

You do realize that the WWE was PG when Andre did that right? They were more Disney back at that time than they are now and it's not even close. Saba Simba, Doink, Max Moon, The Bushwhackers, do you need me to name more?

Oh it wasn't totally PG they also showed blood. It was more PG-13 lol BUT the story lines ALSO weren't bland and they actually built them. I mean how long did Hogan and Andre go on? Now you're LUCKY to have a 3 week build-up.

Wow. Just wow. The irony! Oh the irony!

.......

To the point, it's not Punks fault at all. Maybe it might be for an angle, you know, "someone around here doesn't want me to be the champion"

I agree with you! I only watch it now to watch it. WWE has gotten BORING!!!! I used to watch TNA but since Hogan got there it became unwatchable. The problem is WWE has no real competition since WCW folded. So they really don'r have to be on their A-game. The PG era has ruined the WWE product.

When Cena had the belt ratings were down also. People just don't want to accept that fact. The ONLY WAY ratings will go up is if Cena goes heel. But WWE would never do that.

So, here's the question: Why blame Punk for the poor ratings?

The answer to this is a blend of "kayfabe meets real world." It's the same as the principle of why so many fans "hate" John Cena even though he's celebrated as a good guy and in real life is the number one performer in the company......for a multitude of reasons. It's a matter of confusing how Cena is depicted on the show as opposed to what he's like in real life.

We don't know what Phil Brooks is really like and what he really thinks. Who knows how much of his "revolution" last Summer was real and how much was written by the Creative team? Punk, even in interviews outside the scope of WWE programming is claiming it was all true, that he had one foot out the door of the company and was persuaded to come back only if things were done this way. Many of us believe it was all real, many of us don't. Many of you feel he was genuinely shocked and disgusted when his microphone was shut off as he sat cross-legged in the ring during his diatribe.:icon_wink:

But for those of you who believe Punk is truly the agent of change, why not blame him if ratings are flat? Why not hold him responsible if viewers tune out the show when his segment comes on? If you believe all his "Voice of the Voiceless" rant, why wouldn't you take him to task if everything stays the same in all these months since he's been elevated to the top of the roster?

He told us that everything was going to be different and better, no? Yet, ratings for Raw last Summer were hovering around 3.0......and they still are. If you bought into his stuff, why wouldn't you blame C.M. Punk for it? He said he was the leader of the new wave, didn't he? He said he was going to change things for the better, yes?

Personally, I think a lot of what happened last Summer was scripted and that he was just an actor playing a role. I have a hard time believing he was really leaving the company that is the leader of the industry to perform in front of 150 fans in junior high school gyms in West Virginia.

It's often hard to separate what's happening on the screen from what's happening in real life. It's one of the things that makes pro wrestling exciting and unpredictable. But if you're one of the people who figures its all real.....and that Phil Brooks is your hero......then blaming him for low ratings seems a perfectly acceptable course of action to me.

Punk's just in the wrong place at the wrong time. As the holder of the WWE belt, the flagship belt of the company, he is bound to be held responsible for the ratings. Technically the only reason you are made champion is to do good business and if you are unable to do that, you pay a price.

Of course in order to do good business you need to be backed up by the creative team which is what is just not happening in the WWE at the moment. The reason for the low ratings is that nothing much is happening in the WWE at the moment. Who is Punk feuding with post his championship victory? No one in particular. Sure the WWE have made some attempts to do an Austin/ McMahon-esque angle with Punk and Lauranitis but that is never going to work. Lauranitis plain sucks and all Punk has been doing is just calling him out and telling him that he sucks. Lauranitis, for his part, seems to be pretty disinterested in Punk unless he calls him out. It's just not the ideal feud.

I think that WWE is just stalling at the moment. The Royal Rumble is a bit far away and they have not started booking for that just yet. The return at 2nd Jan could be another thing that they are waiting for and it just may change the complexion of a few things in the WWE. I do not believe for a second that WWE has given up hope in Punk or anything. Nowadays having time between PPV's is more of a curse for the WWE creative than a blessing. That is because they do not really do slow builds for feuds anymore. And when they do, the people are not interested. That is what is happening here and it is bound to change soon as we start approaching Royal Rumble.

I get all of what you're saying. And most of it is valid. But, think about these things when you go to blame punk, if he is in fact the person to blame.

1. Why, oh why, did HHH have to get so heavily involved. It went from Punk vs Cena, to Punk vs HHH, to Punk vs Nash, and then Punk vs HHH again. Analyze this, Punk beats cena, punk beats cena, hhh beats punk, hhh and nash separate and hhh beats nash. All that after starting in august. It went from this whole big conspiracy thing and just died off to basic boring shit that we always see. HHH gained nothing from beating punk. Nothing. Punk lost alot after that. It went from massive tension to punk saying, "okay now i know the conspiracy isn't you." then it just goes away. WTF???

2. Partially blame HHH. Why? Because he crushed punks momentum. He just had to be the center of attention, beat the new #1 guy, and steal the spotlight and it all lead to a shitty match between him and ol big daddy clanky knees at tlc. Bullshit. HHH ruins shit. Always has. Always will

3. Blame Alberto Del Rio for being fucking boring. I think the only time guy ever got a reaction was at MITB when he won. That was cool. Chicago is such a great wrestling city.

4. Surely Vincent K is to be blamed somewhere. With all his indecisiveness. He can't make up his mind, so what? Just let HHH win every match. Fuck that

Bottom line is, Punk may be to blame. But look at this. Promos are better than anyone else in the company. In ring skills are in the top 3 in the company. People give him shit about his look. So what? If you understand it's scripted, does it really matter if the guy take hgh or not? Preferably, i'd rather my wwe champions not have manboobs like the miz. (SEE EZEKIEL JACKSON). Cena may sell more merchandise. But I'd be willing to bet that if you exclude the kids. Most of the audience probably doesn't pay to see john cena. I'm sure they pay to see the product. to be entertained. to see several superstars.
THREE SIMPLE WAYS TO FIX THE WWE PRODUCT
1.Keep CM Punk champion, let him create his own promos, let him choose his opponents, let them create something(like they used to do it)
2.Actually spend time creating stroylines and adding depth to characters to build interest so instead you don't have people changing the channel all the time
3Less ppv's. Have maybe 8-10. Build a good 5 or 6 raws and smackdowns between ppv's. Why? You build stories. Feuds. Characters. PPV's are almost like a good raw show without commercials. EXCEPT YOU HAVE TO PAY LIKE 60 FUCKING DOLLARS FOR HD:banghead:

It's really not that hard. Cena overcoming the odds everytime does not interest me nor impress me. I about had a heartattack when he lost at Wrestlemania. Albeit to the suck-ass miz. Personally, I enjoy R-truth nowadays. He entertains me. He actually has decent in ring ability too. Hell just give the belt to Cody. He is great. Just please everyone get off the fucking wade barrett train. And whoever thinks Barrett should end taker's streak should be hung from a tree, cut open, sugar in all the wounds, while thousands of fire ants eat you alive. Who the fuck saw that guy hang the moon? I just hear an annoying voice with a fucked up nose. Fuck him
