Between them Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Edge and Christian have notched up a total of 11 World Championship reigns, an ECW title reign, 14 Intercontinental Championship and US Title reigns, 3 European Title reigns, 3 Light Heavyweight title and Cruiserweight title reigns, 5 Hardcore title reigns and a staggering 18 Tag Team title reigns (were ones held together count as 1, individually it would be 31).
Clearly these four wrestlers are very decorated indeed, but which of the two classic pairings do you think will leave the biggest legacy in Wrestling. Certainly, Edge and Christian have acheived the most in terms of championships so far, but both of them are older than both Hardys, and it is not unreasonable to assume that Jeff will have won as many titles as Edge by the time he is the same age, he certainly won his first one younger.
For me, both teams will be remembered as pioneers in exciting tag gimmick matches, as well as for injecting a little fervour into the tag division. E&C won most of the big gimmick matches, but the outcome of the matches isn't the most important thing in everyones memory. Probably the defining shot of the TLC match at X-Seven was Edge spearing Jeff in mid air, but this was not the ending to the match, which was essentially won by Rhyno when he carried Christian up the ladder.
For me, I'd say that if they all retired today, Edge and Christian would leave the greater legacy given that they have been more successful following their split, and have both ecellent matches and promos that will be repeated for a long time.
However, if the current Hardy feud pays off well, there is a chance that Jeff will become the #1 face of one of the brands. They have the benefit of having their break up at both of their career peaks, unlike E&C who had theirs some 4 years before winning their respective World Titles, and thus the lasting impression of the duo could be far greater.
-EDIT- I apologise for the attrocious grammar in the thread title, but it was getting late.
