Who's Your Favorite Female Singer?

got bored decided to make a different kind of thread i didnt see anything like it so figured why not? so here it is...

out of all the female singers out there (not counting lead singers of bands) whos your favorite? can be from any genre of music and can be past or present for me its gotta be this girl right here...

taylor-swift.jpg

i know i know im sure many of you cant stand her but theres just something about her i love (besides her looks) i think shes a pretty good singer and 1 of the very few country singers i listin to and i think shes a good role model for young girls everywhere sense shes not addicted to drugs and not a ****e plus the fact if you have problems in the love department theres a Taylor Swift song for how your feeling! ;) personally i like her music because the lyrics actullay have meaning behind them and her voice makes the songs sound really good.

This is actually a tough one for me. There are quite a few female vocalists that I quite like and its hard to pick one. I'll leave some of the more obvious ones for other people so I'm going to pick this lady

101309-taylor-momsen-400.jpg

I love me some Pretty Reckless and Taylor Momsen is pretty much the main reason. She looks great, she sings well and she has this bitchy attitude which I just can't help but love. While some people may argue that she's not that much of a singer I think how she sings is the main point, she conveys quite a bit of emotion in her voice which is the main point.

Lana Del Ray currently. Her album is a beast of music, every song is different, the lyrics are pretty smart and well thought out, her sound is unique, her voice is deep and kind of drags on a bit. She has a different vibe to her than everybody else, kind of dark and cool. Loved the song Video Games but wanted to see what else she could produce, Born to Die doubled my affection towards her so I decided to pick up the album. She is pretty hot too, but based off actual talent Lana Del Ray is currently doing it for me.

The one and only Ms. Guðmundsdóttir.

bjork2.jpg

I can never be unhappy when I'm listening to Björk - I love her mesmerising vocal style that can go from tiny, hushed whispers to full-on bellows, and her ability to fuse elements of the folk music of her native Iceland with the familiar tropes of European dance and electronic music to form something entirely unique and daring.

To me, Björk is just one of the artists that I will always have a special thing for, though a lot of people will criticise her for being too "out there", underneath the somewhat wacky image is some really deep and soulful music that can fit whatever mood you're in; relaxed, hyper, happy, sad, broody, and so on.

hmm all good choices although i cant say i ever listned to any of them but probably because i mainly just listin to the big names as far as female singers go  a close 2nd for me would have to be katy perry but thats mainly because id love to be with her. :lmao:

This is tricky cause I like so many different styles and genres. But I'll give it a go.

For the past I pick....

TeenaMarie-505x623.jpg

Lady T, Teena Marie. This lady had the pipes (and looks) and had a lengthy career until her death back in 2010. Some of the best stuff to listen to with your chick is Portuguese Love and Fire and Desire with Rick James. Even had the Teena Marie Law named after her when she was trying to get out of her Motown contract.

Now for the present I gotta go with....

marsha.jpg

Marsha Ambrosius. I wasn't really into Floetry back in the day, but he solo album from last year was beyond great. Has collaborated with many of music's best, including MJ. My wife can't stand "I She Cheats On You..." and tease her about it. But Marsha is very underrated but has been making rounds around the US and on TV over the last year.

Honorable mention to Jill Scott as well.

Looking into my collection of music I've come to realize that I own very little female fronted bands or just plain female singers. There is one that sticks out.

Brandi+Carlile.jpg

Brandi Carlile has an amazing voice and is probably most well known for her song "The Story" which became a hit when it was featured extensively during the Olympics in 2008.

And besides rocking out she has a nice folksy style on songs that shines on songs such as "Shadow on the Wall".

Right now, probably Adele. I've seen her live and it's pretty mindblowing. Leona Lewis and Christina Perri are both pretty amazing as well.

All time, probably Linda Ronstadt or Janice Joplin. I'm more of a rock fan, so Joplin probably gets the nod, but "Different Drum" as performed by The Stone Poneys (although written by Nesmith) is one of my favorite songs of all time.

This is an easy one.

Despite being stuck in a retro band that sounded dated even during their own era, the girl had the sweetest, softest voice you'll ever hear. Unique and unquestionably my favourite singer of all time.

oh god just something about adele bugs me so much maybe its just the fact her songs are over played on the radio all the time because i do like her songs as for the all-time joplin just has a great quality to her voice that i always liked probably my favorite female rocker of all-time

Easy. Shania Twain. Great music in the 90's and early 00's. You don't hear much from her these days (unless you're a fan). Not to mention (according to science), she's one of the most perfect looking human beings in history. A stunner in her prime, here's a pic of her taken last year - not bad for 47:

Taylor Swift is my #2. Country female singers are all ridiculously talented and attractive I found.

Country female singers are all ridiculously talented and attractive I found.

Hillary Scott, Taylor Swift, Kimberly Perry, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood are all great examples of these two facts... and they would all definitely be up there as some of my favorite female singers, along with other singers like Mariah Carey, Amy Lee, Mary J. Blidge, and even Jordin Sparks.

But I think that right now, my number one favorite singer is country singer Ashley Monroe. She sounds like Dolly Parton (another great singer) and has pipes for days. She's very talented, and there's a reason why she's in with Miranda Lambert for The Band Perry.

As for my all time female singer that's easily going to be Beyonce. Yeah, I'm a dude and I love her vocal abilities. She's talented, and there's a reason why her career continues to soar high in the air. Plus, she's now a certified MILF.

Yeah, that's the main reason why I can't stand the radio. I love Adele but if I hear "Rolling in the Deep" one more time I'm going to stab someone. Good call on Joplin. You've got great taste.

see i like country but i just never got into shania twain i did LOVE her country duet with kid rock on the song Picture a few years ago that was really good and they played off each other well in live performances...when kid rock was sober. i will always be a big swift fan for me #2 in country is carrie underwood shes got such a powerful voice for a country singer and you can tell she puts alot of thought into her songs.

Can't do only one.

Tatiana DeMaria.

tat-172657.jpg

This lovely punk rock lead singer was introduced to me by NSL. Since then I've tried keeping up with TAT and all of their work. I really should purchase their EPs too. She's got a good voice and did a good job with the lyrics on their album Soho Lights. Three songs you should check out. Road to Paradise, Sympathetic Lies, and Pessimist. Just to start.

Maria Brink.

maria_brink_maria_brink_in_black_dress_XdwIMaJ.sized.jpg

I got on her track thanks to NSL. Seems to be a pattern. She's got a harder vocal record, but there's something that just works. She can have a soft voice when it calls for it, but she will scream that off when needed.

Hayley Williams.

Hayley_Williams_Picture_97.jpg

I was not introduced to Paramore by NSL, thank you very much. There is just something about her. I can't put my finger on it other than her voice. She just rocks, and certainly makes Paramore what they are.

Honorable mention goes to Lacey Sturm (Mosely) the lead singer for Flyleaf.

Hayley Williams.

You are the man <3

Mine is very clearly Maria Brink. She has a killer singing voice, amazing screams, and even some badass growls. She's hot, has amazing stage presence, and is as sweet a friend as you will ever find.

Tatiana is also a badass bitch, and Hayley is extremely underrated. Maria still gets my #1 vote.

If we're talking female metal singers, I don't think anyone touches the Arch Enemy girl. I've seen her live a few times and was dumbstruck at how that voice comes out of that body.

I would suggest Cat Power. Great indy voice, tantalizing lyrics.
Also, Syd tha Kyd is upcoming. She's from the Odd Future movement put together by Tyler, the Creator. Syd is primarily a producer, but when she sings with her intragroup within Odd Future called The Internet, she will absolutley chill you out with her pure voice.

Based on voice alone have to say Alison Krauss, that woman has the most angelic voice Ive ever heard. Listen to her song "When You Say Nothing At All" and you'll know exactly what I mean, her voice is the perfect mix of smooth and high, she literally gives me goosebumps on some notes.

Second I have to throw in Reba McEntire as an artist and my second favorite female vocalist, she has such a unique sound and style. On top of that she's a brilliant song writer, I can honestly say that she doesn't have one song I don't like, and she's got alot of freakin songs.

And to SXEnightmare, I'm pretty sure that was Cheryl Crow, he might have done one with Shania that I'm not aware about but I think you're thinking of Cheryl.

oh shit i am thinking of Cheryl thank you for correcting me for some reason i always mix those two up i really dont know why haha

everybodys got some good choices i dig Haley Williams shes pretty good.

Fuck that no band rule. This chick right here is straight rock n roll. Classic Rock. like she was raised off of it and her voice is powerful. Like in her duet with Brent from Shinedown she actually matches him note for note...
tumblr_lprocjOXLx1qm2kqzo1_400.jpg

Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. Whats not to love about her? Shes gorgeous, can sing with the best of them. and her personality is wicked. I would probably kill to see them/her live.

Its Lzzy... or Elizabeth :) Theyre always in KC and not Omaha :'( Personally I Get Off is my fav by Halestorm but it underrates her voice so much! Love Bites (And So Do I) is pretty classy, Breaking Inside by Shinedown with her shows her matching Brent note for note. Her and Seether's performance of Broken...she out shines a young and still great Amy Lee. If Halestorm isnt one of the next big things in rock then fuck knows whats wrong with the world. :wtf:
