Who's Worse?

Big Sexy

Deadly Rap Cannibal
We always have conversations about who is the best player at a particular position or sport but we rarely get into discussions about bottom of the barrel guys and who is truly the most awful at what they do. Basically use this thread to name two similar guys/teams who suck and we can debate on who is worse. This can be player vs player, coach vs coach, team vs team, announcer vs announcer, sports personality vs sports personality, etc...

I am going to start with one that is influenced by a current discussion in the NFL LD. Skip Bayless vs Colin Cowherd, who's worse?

I have a high disdain for both men and wish they were off my TV screen but one has to be worse then the other. Is it the overbearing idiot who takes every opinion he has to the extreme or is it the uninformed idiot who only has a job because he stirs up controversy?

There really isn't a wrong answer but I'm going to go with Colin Cowherd being worse. At least Skip Bayless is a veteran in the industry who has worked for some major papers and actually had to do some work to get where he is at. He may suck and annoy the fuck out of a national audience but he put in decades of work and actually has some knowledge. Colin Cowherd knows virtually nothing about sports and it shows.

You know how when you have a girlfriend that knows you really like sports so she tries to sound intelligent and make the occasional comment about them? That is Colin Cowherd. He tries to sound intelligent and he may think he knows what he's talking about but at the end of the day his opinions are laughable.

Definitely Cowherd. The thing about Bayless is that he knows how ridiculous some of the positions he takes is. He is like a real world sports-troll. He intentionally agitates. Cowherd isn't smart enough to do that. He is actually dumb enough to believe the shit that comes out of his mouth. You know that meme of Fry from Futurama that states "can't tell if trolling, or just stupid?" (Posting from cell phone, otherwise I would link to image) Bayless is trolling, Cowherd is just stupid.

I understand why people hate them and they can be irritating at times, but in the end I think they both know what they're talking about and simply take extreme positions to maximize attention and exposure. I actually really like Colin on Sportsnation and Bayless has become somewhat bearable for me.

I'll have to go with option C, Chris Collinsworth. Most annoying man on the planet.

I use to not like Skip Bayless because I thought his opinions and positions he took on Sports were downright....stupid and annoying.

But that's when I was in High School and I didn't know any better. I've grown to like Skip. I refuse to watch a First Take episode if I don't see him now. Now that I have a better understanding of where he comes from, he's not too bad. He can sometimes take things a bit overboard, but I like him for it. When he wants to, he can actually be pretty funny.

Cowherd sounds like such an arrogant douche. I don't really have an explanation as to why I don't like him. I see him on SportsNation and I've heard that Radio Show and he comes off like such a blow hard. Sometimes, he sounds smart and there are times where I have to really pay attention because the things he says are just :wtf:

So, Skip > Colin

Living in Canada I don't see these guys very often. But they do air some ESPN shows on TSN over here(PTI,Number Never Lie*,Around The Horn,SportsNation etc.).I watch ATH and PTI daily. I have only saw 3 or 4 episodes of SportsNation. I don't remember much of what Cowherds says but I remember whever a hockey segment would come up he would continuously make fun of it and rip the shit out of it while others talked about. It seemed extremely childish and annoyed very much. I dont know Bayless but I'm not a big fan of Cowherd.

As much as I love watching PTI, I feel Tony and Mike strike me as two sport writers that don't know a lot about sports. I never hear anything but trivial bs out of them. Just giving input on topics that were just on Around The Horn -- which brings me to Jay Mariotti and Woody Paige said it best - Jay always criticizing athletes for not being rolemodels and getting in trouble with the law. Unfortunately for him he demonstrated how hypocritical he was in the end.
