Who should win The King Of The Ring?

Here's who I don't think need it.

Sheamus
Doesn't need KITR because he's already a main eventer. Wouldn't do much for him.

Morrison
A possible feud with Miz will get him some main event spotlight. He'll be what Hardy was in 2008

Alberto Del Rio
He's one of the top two midcard heels on Smackdown along with Ziggler and he has the best chance to move up to main event heel since Kane is the only one.

Daniel Bryan
He has history with Miz but I don't know if I would put him in the main event scene just yet. Lack of heels in the midcard hurts him a bit now that Miz is champion.

Ezekiel Jackson
With or without KITR, I don't think he's going to move up in the time being. Could push him up to the midcard but there's already enough faces and I just see him sqaushing lower card guys or maybe form a tag team.

Now on to the three who I see winning it...

Kofi Kingston
Kingston is pretty much over and has stayed over due to his feuds with Orton, McIntyre, and Ziggler but he doesn't have any direction. He just has random matches here and there. A win would help push him into some feud maybe with Kane whether or not he drops the title.

Cody Rhodes
He plays his gimmick real well but he's stuck in the same position for a while mostly due in my opinion to Ziggler being champion. A win and a IC title reign would develop his character more and who wouldn't want a dashing champion?

Drew McIntyre
Here's my winner. I guess you could say his gimmick is still that of "The Chosen One" and I thought they used it well with his feud with Kingston. Other than that, they haven't used it. If Vince McMahon wouldn't have gotten "taken out" by Nexus, I could see his influence or interference leading to a victory for Drew. I see something in him more as a face than a heel but to get to that, I think he needs this the most. I would love to see a Edge/McIntyre feud.

Kofi Kingston- he needs it more than anyone to get relevant again especially if Kane is going to hold the world title longer, seeing as there are barely any faces anymore besides Edge and Rey...

Alberto Del Rio- the most likely candidate to win...I dont see him winning possibly due to interference from Rey since he interfered...HE WILL NOT WIN imo

Drew McIntyre- my least favorite in this....plain and simple...

Dashing Cody Rhodes- my personal favorite to win but I dont see him winning because they arent really pushing him right now in anything meaningful....why break him and Drew up when they teamed at Survivor Series again anyways??

Daniel Bryan- could possibly win it...I dont ever recall someone that already had a title win it....could be the Bret Hart of this years KOTR

Sheamus- doesnt need it

John Morrison- I think this will be the winner come next week...with Miz winning the WWE title, he is a surefire winner....he just beat Sheamus at SS so I think he deserves it

Ezekiel Jackson- dont see him winning it...would be interesting if he won it and teamed with Regal again....they could be the Kings of the Ring (tag team)

I'll go with John Morrison

Sheamus-Now yes, he doesn't need it but it could add alot to his character. I don't think i'd have a problem with "King Sheamus" in WWE. He could even say that he took out Triple H and now he is the new "King of Kings" leading to Triple H's return...(ie. King Booker)

Ezekiel Jackson-I'm kind of on the fence about this. I'm not quite 100% behind Zeke yet but King Ezekiel would be cool I guess. If WWE wants to push him far then this would definately help.

John Morrison-Unless you've been living in a cave for the past month or so you've all seen that JoMo is getting some kind of push. With Miz as WWE Champion I could definately see JoMo becoming King of the Ring and challenging Miz for the title. For some reason I was never quite satisfied with the way their rivalry ended.

Daniel Bryan-I like this guy and all mainly because of the independants and his amazing in-ring ability but I really don't want him as KoR...Doesn't suit his character and he already has the US title.

Alberto Del Rio-Please VINCE do not allow this guy to win. I honestly can't stand him. (And not in the good way, more like the Vickie Guerrero way...) He doesn't need the KoR status and is in a fine fued with Mysterio.

Kofi Kingston-I could see Kofi winning this and possibly leading to a heel turn...If they're gonna do it, this is the way to do it. Kofi wins and becomes King Kofi, an arrogant, cocky superstar (without the stupid King Booker accent). But, he's probably gonna lose in the first round...

Cody Rhodes-His current "Dashing" gimmick could blend well with this but I dunno...He's not really "King" material...Still, it's better then Del Rio winning. BTW CODY, WEAR SOME GOD DAMN KNEE PADS ALREADY. SERIOUSLY YOU LOOK STUPID!

Drew McIntyre-Being the "Chosen One" and all, I'd expect him to win or come close. His gimmick really isn't doing much for him and he needs a reboost to get back to where he was. I mean wasn't this guy supposed to win MITB and become world champ instead of Swagger or something?

Anyways, if it went my way it would be:

Quater-Finals:
Sheamus vs Kofi Kingston-Winner: Sheamus
Ezekiel Jackson vs Cody Rhodes-Winner: Jackson
John Morrison vs Del Rio-Winner: JoMo (Interference by Mysterio)
Daniel Bryan vs Drew McIntyre-Winner: McIntyre

Semi-Finals:

Sheamus vs JoMo-Winner: Sheamus
Ezekiel Jackson vs Drew McIntyre-Winner: McIntyre

Finals:
Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre-Winner and 2010 King of the Ring: Sheamus

Remember a while back when Sheamus was champ and the GM told him he could pick his next opponent and he sat on the stage in a throne all night? He just looked good in the throne lol.

So many of them Should win it, it could help alot of the contenders. I think it's going to be something to help the shaemus and Morrison fued though, so Either one of them will win, (hopefully Morrison I'm loving the fact he is getting a push) or they will both be eliminated with each others help for groan, Alberto Del rio to get the win. he would be the last person that deserves it. it don't fit his character.

It should go to somebody who really needs it. For this reason I'm going to reject Sheamus because he's already a main-eventer and doesn't really need the push. Just because he's out of the title picture at the moment doesn't change his status. Not sure why people see it this way and then complain when the main event scene is centred around two or three guys for six months straight, it's good to have a shake up once in a while and Sheamus will be back.

I also wouldn't back Daniel Bryan either. He's in the middle of a white-hot run with the US title and putting on the best match of the entire card with consistency. He's over as hell and doesn't need the title of King Of The Ring.

It's not just about who needs it though, a factor in the final decision should be who could take this title and put it to use the best. Ezekiel Jackson has gigantic trapezoid muscles and not much else. He's slow and lumbering and even though he's got the "WWE look" I still wouldn't be investing too much in him. If he could put on a decent match then maybe but I haven't seen anything noteworthy from him since he returned.

Drew McIntyre is another who has been pretty disappointing. He doesn't seem to have any charisma at all, he hasn't been given anything good to work with and I fear that if he were given this title we'd be treated to some horseshit royalty gimmick a la "King" Booker, just because he's from the UK. I notice he's stopped doing the whole 'Chosen One' schtick, which I think is a mistake because it gave his character that extra dimension. Get him back on the path he was on when he debuted and he wouldn't need King Of The Ring to get him over.

That leaves Kofi, Morrison, Del Rio and Rhodes. I'm going to rule Morrison and Kofi out because A) they've already been champions and B) they're faces, and I don't believe this gimmick suits faces all that well. Morrison has been in definite need of a push but it looks like he's getting his right now, although I don't think it's going to count for much until they turn him heel. He's (supposed to be) a rockstar with muscles, he should be cocky and have six groupies on his arm at all times, leave dealing with 'bullies' to Cena.

Kofi is someone who will probably never be a main eventer, his name sounds silly and his promos are flatter than Keira Knightley's chest. Yes he can put on a great match when he's on but there's more to it than that in being the champ.

That leaves Del Rio and Rhodes and honestly I think either of these guys could take this ball and run with it and I'll be happy if either of them wins the title. Both are future main eventers, I've been loving the promo work from both of them and they can both wrestle incredibly well. Rhodes' 'dashing' gimmick is one of the funniest and well-written around and it's success lies in it's simplicity. There are no shades of grey here, Rhodes straight-up loves himself and it's so easy for an audience to hate him.

I'd actually probably rather see Cody win this but I'm going to go with Del Rio simply because he's that little bit higher up than Rhodes and seems to be getting more of a push as well, it'd be logical for the WWE to continue this by crowning him King Of The Ring.

All that said, it really doesn't matter who wins, because nobody could possibly be worse than King Mabel right?

...Right???

Hmm, I'm kinda torn between two people on this one: Morrison and Del Rio.

On one hand, the first thing I thought of when Raw ended was "Miz is champ, Morrison wins KOTR, challenges Miz at Rumble" But now I'm leaning in a different direction.

The Morrison/Sheamus feud is not over and with both men in the tournament, I see their paths crossing, more on that later.

Zeke, Mcyntire, Bryan and Cody I think are out. Zeke's big smiley face won't look good at KOTR. Cody and Drew are still n the mid-card and unless they have a major pushed lined up for one of them it just wouldn't make sense for one of them to come out of all the 8 guys in this. Bryan is US champ, doesn't need KOTR also, it would be over kill.

I'd love to see Kofi win but it won't happen. I love Kofi but for some reason he isn't being pushed right now. If he won I really wouldn't be shocked because he's still crazy over and a push for him came around this time last year so it could happen agsin. I think Del Rio is the man here.

Whoever said it doesn't fit his gimmick is out of their minds. A rich, good-looking, arrogant 'better than you' heel? That has king written all over it.
Here's my predictions:

Qtr-Finals
Del Rio over Zeke--Del Rio will cheat to pull this out so Zeke doesn't look weak, maybe a low blow or his feet on the ropes, something like that.

Sheamus/Morrison goes to a double countout--They fight in the 1st round, have a good match than start to just brawl with each other all over the arena obv. ending in a countout. Feud continues to TLC. Del Rio gets a bye into the Finals, true heel fashion.

Kofi over Cody--Kofi wins with Trouble in Paradise in a good match and advances to the Semi's

Bryan submits Drew--Gryan locks in the LaBell Lock and makes Drew tap out, leading to a Face/Face match with Kofi in the Semi's

Semi-Finals
Del Rio gets a bye.

Bryan over Kofi--Bryan wins with a roll up in what I think could be an incredible match. They hug after and all is good.

Finals
Del Rio over Bryan--This may be far fetched, but someone earlier mentioned a Regal/Bryan feud, I love that idea. I see Regal costing Bryan the win here (1. he's the current KOTR 2. he trained Bryan and that could incorporate into this feud 3. Regal's apparently retiring very soon, the man is awesome give him a good feud to go out with). Del Rio wins it, cuts an awesome heel promo holding his ceptor and wearing his crown and cape. Than gets attacked by Rey, setting up their 2 out of 3 falls match at TLC.

I'm actually really interested in the King of the Ring tournament. I think one of those reasons is the fact I really don't know whose going to win the tournament. I don't think there's any obvious choice, really. I feel like there's lots of possible winners and that's kind of exciting. Another good thing is they're actually allowing the wrestlers to wrestle in these matches and there's been quite a few really good matches on both RAW and Smackdown so far.

I could see Sheamus winning the tournament and I think he'd make a good King. I could also see Kofi Kingston winning, after all he has KING in his name! Drew McIntryre is also someone I think's a viable choice to win the tournament over others. Personally I think either Sheamus or McIntyre will win it. Although I wouldn't really mind either Kingston or even Cody Rhodes winning it. The King gimmick might go along with Rhodes dashing gimmick and complement it even, in interesting ways.

I'm really not confident though with picking anyone at this stage and I like that fact, it's definitely made me interested in the tournament and that's a good thing. I do have a feeling it'll be someone on Smackdown who wins it, though. But who knows!

Well, looking at the participants (Including the now confirmed Smackdown side), IMO I would have John Morrison and Alberto Del Rio in the finals. Whoever wins or loses wouldn't matter to me in that match seeing as I'm a fan of both talents. I don't know why, but for some funny reason, I think Lobster Head (Sheamus) is going to win. :suspic:

I see this having Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio in the finals. Since I see them as the favorites to win. In the end though Bryan winning would increase his steady credibility in the WWE, and I can see Mysterio costing Del Rio the finals match leading to their match at TLC.

I marked out when I saw WWE was going to bring back this event. This tournament deserves to be a PPV like it used to be. One of the greatest, most respected events in the WWE. We have 8 great candidates to win this and all 8 have good reasons to win this but only 1 can really win this. First off, I believe someone from Smackdown will win this as Vince has been pushing this show as the superior brand. Big Show doesn't need this tournament win, so that leaves us with Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston and Alberto Del Rio. I believe Alberto Del Rio will win this tournament. Del Rio seems as if he is being pushed really big right now and what better way to say he is here to stay than give him the prestigious honor of winning one of the WWE's most storied tournaments. Del Rio always talks about having the bloodline of kings and being better than everyone on the roster because of his immense fortune and fame, why not give him even more to brag about? Could imagine Alberto walking around in royalty garb and just how much absolute heat this man will draw in from throwing around the fact that he comes from royal bloodlines and now he himself IS royalty? I believe this tournament is really a boosting pad for heels in the WWE and this year's tournament should be no different.

The thing i like about this years tournament is it seems like all these guy are worthy and have a realistic chance of winning. Saying that i don't think its too far fetched for kofi to pull it off, he had the best qualifying match with swagger and it seems he is able to work good matches with everybody and he is over big time. I f he doesn't win he at least needs to develop a good feud in this tourney maybe beat del rio and then del rio screw him in the next round. That way you can get del rio away from rey bc i have gotten tired of their fued allready the little chiauaua(sorry spelling) jokes have gotten old.

I also think Drew could get something out of this tourney maybe develop a feud with Cody bc it seems like he doesn't like him that much and i believe he can be a good tweener character or face bc he is not getting it done as a heel. I think this kid can be something but they need to let him show the crowd what he can do, so they can be like hey this kid is not so bad after all. Just my thoughts on the matter.

My thoughts on sheamus winning are that he really doesn't need to win but it would make since if he did to keep him looking dominant but he might can lose by getting dq for going apeshit on morrison also intensifying that feud a little more.

So that leave me to Bryan and Jackson i think it could be a good match with daniel about to win when ted jr comes out and distracts him then blam jackson's rock bottom/ bookend/whatever the fuck his finisher called and he gets to the win.

So with my theory you have a big monster king and 3 feuds developed or continued through this tourney.

I love that this years KOTR event is up in the air with all kinds of possible winners. Everyone has a realistic chance to win and that should really make Raw a very interesting and worth watching episode. The matchups alone are to be very good and exciting. While each guy has the potential to win there are a few with a larger upside and backstory to go along with their wins.

Sheamus -
coming off a loss at the last PPV Sheamus needs a high profile win to head into a likely upcoming feud with Triple H. Having him crowned as King would work well in a feud with the King of Kings. With that said Triple H could possibly return on Raw and cost Sheamus the tournament win as well. Sheamus winning it just seems too obvious for me though.

Del Rio-
the guy is one of the top rising new stars and what better way to solidify him as a future top heel than to give him the KOTR win to gloat about? That said his current feud with Rey needs to conclude and with him costing Rey his match I see Rey returning the favor and costing Del Rio his match during the final.

Morrison-
coming off a top level win over Sheamus, Morrison is hot right now. Add a possible reunion with Melina and the fact that Raw is in need of a top face with Cena "gone" Morrison has alot to gain with a KOTR win. Also to consider is that his former teammate is now the World Champion and a feud between the two could be good in the future. Hell if nothing else Morrison can use the win to move into a World Title match/feud at Royal Rumble. WWE wants their top stars in the Rumble and that sells the PPV alone so why not use it as a chance to have upcoming Morrison and Miz in a World Title match? They done it before with Sheamus, Hardy, and even Hardcore Holly at the Rumble for World Title matches??

These three are the top contenders for the tournament win from storyline perspective that can gain the most out of it. Guys like Rhodes, Kofi, Jackson etc arent setup for any real build that the win would move into but realistically could use it as a stepping stone to something bigger. However, I feel one of the three above are gonna take it this year.

Given the men who qualified, I honestly wouldn't mind any of them winning... well maybe except Drew McIntyre unless they decide to get serious about pushing him. What you have are the young up and coming talent and this tournament is the perfect way to showcase their stuff. I think I want Morrison to win if he's really gonna get the mega push but I think Sheamus is gonna win it by beating Morrison in a rematch in the finals. This would set up a King vs King match against a returning HHH if he comes back soon. But I'd really be happy with almost any of these guys coming out on top.

I think Morrison or Sheamus should win it. Personally, I hope John Morrison is the winner. Since Sheamus has already been WWE Champion twice. This is a perfect way to continue Morrison's charge to the "Main Event". Another "feather" added to his cap.

I don't know why, but I really like the way King Morrison sounds.

But, if Morrison didn't or couldn't be the winner. Sheamus would be my second choice. Another accolade for him as he continues what will probably be (one of) the best careers the business has ever seen.

It's not only nice to see the King of the Ring back, but it's great that it actually means something again. People seem excited for its return, and winning it appears to be seen as a prestigious honor.

There are only two people that I feel should win it, and I have a feeling they'll meet in the finals. The first is John Morrison. He's been getting an absolutely massive push, and he just beat Sheamus clean at Survivor Series. He may be getting put in a title match soon, and this would give him the momentum needed for that to work. He's my pick to win.

My other choice is Alberto del Rio. I love this guy. He entertains the hell out of me. He's pretty much a main eventer on Smackdown already (not saying much), and this would help justify his push to a title. Plus, being King would fit his character.

It's so easy to tell.
obviously Vince is going to make a smackdown star win.
You may ask "Why?" Or "Why the **** would you say that"
My answer ?
Pretty simple accutually
Vince wants smackdown to be the top brand now. So whats a good way to make it better ? Get a king of the ring on the show for more ratings.
As much as it sound stupid :banghead:
Its going to happen im 90% sure ( Just saying 90% to look smart lols)

Anyways FYI I hope Cody Rhodes win but its probably going to be between Drew McIntyre Or Del Rio in terms of whos going to win king of the ring.

Yours thoughts please.

You could have edited your OP instead of making the same post with 2 words difference.

On topic: I don't think it's so obvious. I see Del Rio with a chance of winning, but I think there are some guys from Raw who look strong going into this like Morrison or Shaemus. I am not sold on just one guy yet so we'll see what happens. If Smackdown does get it, then it would be great.

I was thinking Del Rio until the brackets came out. With it likely being, Morrison, Del Rio, Sheamus and Big Zeke in the Semis. They can't have a heel vs heel final, or nobody will care. So only one of Sheamus and Del Rio can win. And nobody cares about Big Zeke yet, so he's not likely to win.

Which means a Morrison vs Sheamus final. I'd give the edge to Sheamus, but am hoping for a Morrison victory.
