Who Should Be Their Last Opponent... Part 1 - Undertaker

If Undertaker retires next year then he will have to face Cena before as we all want to see that . i disagree with the kane idea unless they do a brothers of destruction vs dx at wm or even a fatal four way and kane helps the undertaker right at the end - i do like the idea of the brothers walking off together - it would be a wm moment

This answer is nearly identical to the post I made on Takers next Wrestlemaina opponent and I feel the same answer works for this question also...

I have decided the best last match is a Wrestlemania 28 match for The Undertaker is The Miz... That match is also the perfect way to elevate Miz to the moon and make him the bonofide future of the company they are trying to do...

The Miz talks about ending the streak and does some crazy stuff which eventually gets him his match with Taker.... Mind you Miz is a full blown heel for the next year like he is now, however it is obvious the wrestling public is already dying for him to go face

They wrestle a good 30 minute match where Miz actually ends the streak... After the Miz wins he is so impressed with how hard it was to beat the Deadman he actually comes out on Raw the next night calling out Taker... He then proceeds to show humbleness and ultimate respect to Taker which Taker returns...

This in turn will give Miz the ultimate rub from The Undertaker and also the ultimate push as the new top man in the company, it also elevates him to Cena, Rock, HHH, & Austin status, and it turns him into a solid face... Which the wrestling comunity is already dying for anyway, and it also allows Taker & WWE to properly have used that streak to elevate someone who can carry the company like Hogan, Austin, & Cena have AND as HHH said the streak dies so now the Undertaker dies to... But he dies in a classy way elevating another talent and showing why he his 1 of wrestlings most respected stars...

miz is super boring and lame and will be back to mid card soon. So get off his dick you dick rider.

Takers last match should be beating cena at WM and retiring 20-0. Now with cena booked to face rock that would have to wait to WM 29 which is a while away.

SO he should face HHH again next year have taker win and retire after. Nothing fancy there but its a hell of a lot better then miz beating taker. People would riot if miz beat the streak.

Call me crazy, but what about Alberto Del Rio vs Taker in 28? I think in a year's time they could build up a really good story line after ADR becomes the heavyweight champ and his "destiny" tells him to do something no one else has been able to do.

We have Takers known shoulder problem exposed, ADR's finisher the arm bar being that one ultimate weapon to finish the Taker, but not even this can stop the streak. We have ADR, a know submission specialist, break hell's gate with some type of reversal. On the outside bring back Paul Bearer and ADR's Announcer on the outside creating factors int he match. I think there's good chemistry there, and will give us someone Taker hasn't faced. ADR get's DQed and keeps the belt. Win win, makes it look like ADR isn't just another victim. Kind of like WM3.

If someone is going to defeat The Undertaker I believe the smartest thing to do is have a young superstar with potential take him out so it can boost that wrestler's career into the stratosphere. Otherwise I do not think that Undertaker's streak should be broken, there isnt much point in having a guy like HHH do it if his career will be over soon. Why not let the death of the Phenom give birth to a new legend?

Currently I cant think of a young superstar who is good enough to pull of this win realistically, a guy who could gain the most from it is McIntyre because he is young, and he has been marked as a future world champion so this would be the perfect setup to propel him into that. However it wont happen and it shouldnt happen because he isnt good enough in the ring and hasnt done anything to earn a match with taker. My point is that is should be a young guy with enough talent and hype to be a future world champ, that would be the smartest move.

If Taker is not going to lose then I would say that a match with CM Punk would be a great option. I dont think that we need anymore Taker mania matches that are 2nds like Kane,HBK or HHH, as great as they were people want to see guys who have not faced him at mania before. Ofcourse several names come up including The Rock, John Cena, Chris Jericho, CM Punk. I personally feel that Chris Jericho would be the best man to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28 and I believe it should be his last match. Think back to Jericho and Taker's match on smackdown when they faced eachother for the first time, it was an exellent match. I believe with Jericho's amazing mic skills this thing could be talked up to be amazing, and the two of them could deliver just that. Plus a win over a vet like Jericho with accomplishments like being the first Undisputed Champion, a 9 time Intercontinental Champion and Triple Crown Champion it would be a huge win to end the streak at an even 20-0 and a great match that the fans would love.

I'm not really sure. If you believe reports that once he gets to 20 - 0 he's done, and that they're planning Undertaker Vs Triple H again, than obviously you got to go with that. But they've already gone at it twice at Wrestlemania, and have had two pretty good matches. I don't see the need in having Triple H/Undertaker III.

Kane would be the obvious person to choose. The history, spanning back nearly 15 years is obviously something which will catch peoples eye. Kane and Undertaker have gone against each other two times already, but again could they give a high calibure match?

And then you got the guys who could benefit from the match; but at the same time, that isn't what WWE look at in the Streak. They look at someone who could help the match draw, and honestly the only person I see fitting that mold is CM Punk.

He garners amazing heat, cuts great promos, is known these days for mind games and the likes, a similarity he shares with the Undertaker. They've feuded before and it was great, so why not have Taker Vs CM Punk? It could work, and it would draw.

And the final rumor I've heard, is the small possibility of the Undertaker Vs Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels. If WWE went with that, the disadvantage would be emmense on Undertaker and would lead to a whole number of possible endings. But, Shawn is retired, so that is a last gasp kind of idea.

There are two schools of thought for me and im surprised that no one has mentioned my second pick.

First, I would say John Cena for the reasons mentioned above. The match would elevate his status and he would regain the full superface status at the end even in a loss (which I believe will happen). The Jeff Hardy comparison was spot on as far as the rub goes, but it will be more like the HBK handshake and embrace since Cena has such respect for his predecessors.

Second, I would have to say Sheamus. The only way this would work though is if they let him end the streak, which I somehow doubt they will since HHH and HBK didnt do it. If they do it though, it will make Sheamus into somewhat of a monster heel that the WWE is missing right now. This would be a shoot to the moon as far as the business goes and to have an honor like that would be incredible for Sheamus.

If we're talking about who Taker's last opponent EVER would be, it has to be someone young and credible as well as someone with commitment to the WWE (in other words, they won't jump ship to TNA). As of now, no one really fits that description. I would LOVE to see CM Punk be the one who retires Undertaker and WIN the match. Kinda like the way, he "retired" Jeff Hardy from WWE. He would garner A TON of heat and can continue to brag about how he was the one who rid WWE of the Undertaker forever. The promos would be absolute gold. The only drawback would be that it would be nearly impossible for him to ever turn face again which is something I want him to do at least once more.

I feel Sting would be the perfect last opponent for Taker. That's the dream match, both men are on the same boat, gimmick wise, for what they have done for the buisness, for how long they've been in it and both are on the verge of retiring. Honestly it would truly be unpredictable as to who would win. So against Sting, you'd get a new opponent, dream match & unpredictable outcome, I'd rather that than the total opposite. I just hope Sting can come to a deal with them, like maybe a one match only deal so he doesn't have stay with WWE after the match or he could make the match with Taker his retirement match also. As far as Sting losing, there's no shame in losing to Taker, he's losing to his equal and I bet if you ask him if the streak should be broken, he'd say no, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind losing to him if asked, anybody else in WWE I could understand why he wouldn't want to lose to them. If it's not Sting then I would go for either Jericho, Kane, Cena or Austin.

The huge problem I have with Kane is he is so slow today. Granted Taker is injured always and has slowed a bit himself but he still puts on a great match and I just don't see Kane doing what HHH and HBK have done the past three years. The Streak is larger than life, larger than either world title. It is the highest prestige in the business right now IMHO. I just think they have made it too big to now go with Kane. CM Punk would be good, but nobody would believe he would beat Taker. Sure when Taker fought HBK/HHH you pretty much knew Taker was going to win but they are big enough stars that there were moments in the matches anyone could have seen them winning. I just dont feel the same with Punk, as great as he is right now. A Sting match would be great but it at the same time, it doesnt really seem to fit because it's Sting and why have him come in just to try and take the Streak. YOU KNOW Vinny would never have a guy like Sting beat the streak so again, not credible enough.
