Who needs to be taken down a few notches?

Sly is just a prejudiced old coot. He thinks that people only liked the Attitude era because of its risque elements and people only like CM Punk because he was an indy star. He thinks that any teen would like an anti authority angle regardless of whether it is done well or not. His views on the 16 to 21 age group are so mindlessly stereotypical that they would put any racist or dictator to shame.

This ought to be saved for posterity.

And one has to be pretty fucking dumb to allow one's self to be brought down any number of notches online. This is a world of fantasy, and you can occupy whatever notch you feel suits you best.

And yet, people are brought down online notches all the time.

Say, why is that an expression anyway?

You suck at sig making, whatever happened to that sig you promised me you would do but never got around to it? Catch up to the fucking times man.

I'm sorry.

The breast cancer awarness one? Well, Mike Killam made one for you before I could so I just left it. Do you still want it?

It's ok.

Well brought 'down a peg' is a nautical idiom referring to ship flags dating back a very long way; I would imagine that 'down a notch' is just a variation on that.

I believe it's like the comparison of a person to a volume control. Turning it down a notch is one click on the volume control that lowers the sounds.

You know, in the stone ages... before Plasma and LCD televisions.

But being completely stubborn does not mean that you win a debate, either. ;)

Perhaps not, but getting the last word does serve a great purpose. I'll let others try to figure out what that purpose is.

I'm not sure you quite understand the gist of the thread. You're supposed to take me down a few notches, not regurgitate the same things I say about myself. Get with the program, young man.

Which is why I always choose to be top notch.

General forum thoughts:

1. The consensus for what constitutes as a "good" poster around here is stupid, considering it just boils down to how many people agree with your opinions. The attitude that people have when they separate entire communities into groups of people based on how "good" they are probably comes from people wanting to feel "elite" in some aspect of their lives. The easiest way to do that is to spend more time than you really should discussing a glorified soap opera on the internet.

2. I don't see Sly or any of the staff as better than any other poster, but many people (including myself) won't step to them because of their rabid groupie fanbase. The amount of dick-sucking that goes around on here is unbelievable. Most of the time, I don't feel like defending my thoughts to 17 people who don't understand that Sly, KB, [other staff member] is a grown ass man and can speak for himself.

2a. I actually quite like Slyfox, KB, and most of the staff, so I thought I would use that to segue into my next point: If someone disagrees with you on whatever given topic, it doesn't fucking mean they hate you. I'm looking at you, Dagger.

3. Doc is a fucking lunatic, and I judge everyone who considers him a friend.

Specific people thoughts:

1. I don't understand why Milenko sticks around. Everybody hates him. It's bizarre.

2. D-Man has a weird obsession with Doc's virginity.

3. J-Glass likes to aggressively spout his opinions, litter them with borderline personal attacks, then privately message those people with, "are we cool?" It seems a bit disingenuous.

4. Sound of Madness is still ******ed.

That is all.

My reputation sure as hell doesn't seem to be built on how many people agree with my opinions...

if I have said it to D-man once, ive said it to the lot of you a million times.

You can just proper chemistry for hatred by doing the "put spiders in a jar and shake it around" method.

Shit like that isnt manufactured, the real good fights grow organically

SNS's comedy is anything but second rate

I was overzealous. I saw a few of his one-liners and was unimpressed. But, after seeing he wasn't the poster I thought he was, I don't have any beef with him and retract everything I said.

Edit: This is probably going to nullify everything I said here, but I need to clarify. I thought SNS was a shitty poster. I thought he didn't deserve his rep (because I thought he was shitty). Somehow instead of talking about the "quality" of SNS, we got off on rep. I don't know why I even continued as that wasn't my problem. But, through my halfhearted continuation of the argument, I saw he wasn't the poster I thought. Therefore, I honestly don't care about his post count or rep; I just thought he sucked and didn't deserve it. I was wrong, though. Now, I probably look slightly two-faced here, but at least I tried to save face.
