Who needs a heel switch more: Kofi or MVP?

Occasional Pre-Show
I guess it was almost 2 weeks ago I read on the main page that WWE management was considering giving a serious heel run to either MVP or Kofi Kingston. I was wondering who could benefit the most from this out of the two.

Most of the IWC has been clamoring for MVP to turn heel for the last year and a half. I can't really say I disagree either. I know there was a thread started about how he in fact doesn't need to turn heel....and I intend to read that whole thread soon. And yes, maybe being drafted to Smackdown was a blessing for MVP, as it seems that his face character has been freshened up a bit in his new (yet familiar) blue brand surroundings. But I was thinking in his case.....a brand switch combined with a heel turn could maybe even blow the roof off of his career. And I know some will say his career is doomed already anyway, but I still think there's alot to salvage.

Kofi, on the other hand....well I've been a fan of his since day one, and have never wavered. He's progressed along pretty nicely in my opinion too. He gained momentum when he ditched the Jamaica crap and began feuding with Randy Orton, then admittedly lost some steam afterwards. (Perhaps it was due to the way Randy crushed him?) The brand change is also a major positive for Kofi in my opinion. And the thing is, he is so immensely popular and has such a crowd pleasing style that it would seem to make sense to keep him as a face. But then again, since I like him so much I want to see him achieve bigger and better things. I know there's a portion of the fans that believe he is kind of one-dimensional in his current state and a heel turn could be a good way for him to evolve and really break out.

So who would you like to see more as a heel? And how do you think they could benefit from it?

i would like to see MVP do a heel switch, well he has been joining Rey Mysterio to go against C m Punk and the S.E.S member. during Mysterios and punks match the ref gets knocked out and Mysterio looks liek he is about to put the 619 on punk but have MVP get involved in the match knocks out rey, puts punks arm over rey, then wakes up the ref and Punk win.

MVP definately
Kofi has the image and with the South Africa World Cup coming up, I can see him embracing more African culture and getting over with the fans
MVP, as a face, is a career mid-carder, the guy just doens't get over that well, sorry but its true, listen to the crowd reaction
As a heel, he can be a main eventer, his original rich sports guy gimmick was great because it was so relatable to real sports so it was good

MVP NEEDS TO BE HEEL TO STAY RELEVANT

MVP, without question. Kofi is a great face, the crowd loves him, and his moveset is for faces. I could see a heel turn possibly occur for him, but it wouldn't be that good in my opinion.
MVP on the other hand is bland and boring as a face. Yeah, Jonnie knows they mean the same thing, but Jonnie doesn't care, and that's the bottom line, if you smell what Jonnie's cooking. I'm sorry about that. Anywho, MVP can play a heel, and he can play a heel damn good. I think he needs to lose the braids, because, well, who the fuck has braids anymore? Even JTG doesn't. But MVP is not a good face. It's very unnatural, and he just can't seem to get past the "I'm trying too hard" phase. His name is MVP. Nobody goes around calling themself MVP unless they actually are an MVP, which he is not. He can play the arrogant role very well. He needs to. He will be future endeavored pretty damn soon if he keeps playing the face role, Jonnie doesn't care how many tag matches with Rey and JTG he's been in recently.

As much as I would like to see Kofi experiment with a heel turn. I'd rather see MVP have it and I think he needs it more. He could have been over huge as a face, but Raw screwed that up for him by the third week he was drafted to Raw last year.

I love Kofi as a face and I don't know if he could be convincing to me as a heel. MVP, on the other hand; it would do him good.

well i think both would be great heel. Kofi could be a great break out on smackdown. If they both go heel lets face there not alto of hell unless you in the SES, We lost alot of wrestler to raw. Coem ever thing i read on there is the black guy not gettig the push. Mvp was heel he got boring and went face and chage. I think he should chage be lie randy orton i mena i could belive he could be dager maybe nto turn him turn him liek a tweener. Kofi remind of of john cena nto im oves or anythign but he is over wtih the kid and that what wwe is marketing toward so i have fun felling MVP will go hell and heck it woudl be great if they coudl do a stable with cuple of black guy who it like our time something. you oba in the white house it time to take over or somethgin it coudl work!

Hands Down MVP. Someone hit the nail on the head. MVP needs to be heel to be relevant. But....Could you see both of them heel? Combing forces? Maybe like a new school Nation of Domination? MVP, Kofi, Shad and Teddy Long? Just a high though.

My goodness...People PLEASE use spell check. It is free and completely available for your use. It's only a click away. I felt like I needed to search the internet or go on an archeological dig to find an ancient scroll to decipher hc's post...
Anyway, back on topic. If I had to choose between the 2 as for who needs the heel change, I agree with the majority that it should be MVP. I did like how they handled his face turn by having him lose to everyone and it got to the point where the fans started feeling sorry for him. Hell, even Mr. Kennedy I believe it was before he departed had "words of encouragement" for MVP backstage. But he played that arrogant, cocky, "baller" persona extremely well as a heel. I don't think it should matter, IMO, but the only reason I see the WWE being careful with turning him heel again is because in the recent past they have made it a point to bring up his criminal record on several occasions. But again in my humble opinion, I don't see that as a problem either for 2 reasons. One, most people probably don't even know he has a record. And two, I doubt too many people really care. I just really think he could play the part better than Kofi.
I wouldn't mind seeing Kofi experiment as a heel, but I think it would be an utter failure. His move set screams "I am a face". If they were to turn him heel, I think they would almost need to repackage him. Move-set, MUSIC, no more Boom, Boom, Boom. And people have come to expect that from Kofi.
I do like The Damieon Humber's idea of the stable as long as it isn't ran with some thug street gang mentality. Personally I've seen enough "Yo, yo, yo" with the old Cryme Tyme. But do you think if they had Teddy turn heel that whoever the RAW GM ends up being would have to be more of a face? It just always seems there is one of each on the shows?

MVP clean sweep. MVP is just perfect as a heel. I don't know if he's an asshole in real life, but he plays it very well. Kinda like Batista, only difference is he IS an asshole in real life. I think he's just too afraid to switch probably for some stupid reason like the fans will stop saying "Ballin" whenever he does his elbow move. But he needs to let go over his fears and become what he's meant to be. SD needs another tried and true heel. CM Punk is definitely good at it, but Drew just can't get the crowd into him.

Kofi, just cannot be heel to save his life. His moveset screams face and the crowd is really into him. Right now there's nothing Kofi can do to become the bad guy unless we find out he punches kids.

Its definately mvp. Kofi is very over with the crowd and turning him heel right now would be a huge mistake imo because he still doesnt carry the mic skills to be a great heel. Mvp on the other hand is boring as hell a heel turn would be perfect for him. hes got the mic skills hes got the cocky superstar gimmick plus the attitude to be a very succesful heel on smackdown. So I gotta go with mvp

For the sake of arguement, I'm gonna say I'd rather see Kofi as a heel. But don't change his character ONE BIT. Think about this, if Kofi comes out, does his usual thing with a smile on his face, but he's a heel instead, wouldn't you think that guy was an absoultely deranged lunatic? I would love to see this kind of character in the WWE. I'm also suggesting this possibility because I believe Kofi's move-set would suffer almost to the point of a complete character overhaul if he was your typical snarl and pout heel. It's really hard to describe how Kofi's ideal heel character would be. Maybe he would need a music change, but that's pretty much the definition of character overhaul. It could work though. His boom hand claps would turn into a sign of impending doom, instead of shameless crowd interaction. Honestly, I don't care too much HOW they do it. Just as long as it's not like he's starting back at square-one, I'd like it. Oh and MVP will never win a world title guys. Name a former felon who's ever won a world title in WWE. Come on guys, we're smarter than that.

come on mvp needs a heel change he was great as a heel till wwe ruined him by turning him face he was a us champ logest ever i mean come on thats enough reason he had heaps of heat to

My guess would be MVP. Heres the thing, im guessing Kofi Kingston will win the IC title at Over the Limit and on smackdown team up with MVP to face Rey Mysterio and CM Punk (New Straight Edge Society). MVP turns on Kofi and beats the living crap out of him with a steel chair ETC.

C'mon, MVP needs to get into the IC title picture so why not have a kinda 2 month fued with Kofi but loses with the title on the line. Say about another 2 months after he fights Kofi again on SMACKDOWN and defeats him. So we got a badass MVP who does what he likes with the title on his shoulder, he can abuse the fans and act cool saying hes been to prison and people were to afraid to touch him because hes a monster and 'BOOOOM' Kanes pyros go off he comes to the ring saying over the years he hasnt been as destructive as in the past so hes becoming the Monster once again with the two of them fueding over his IC title.

IM COREEEEY AND IM AWESOMEEEEE :)

Neither, really. I was the one that made the thread about MVP's heel turn being unnecessary, and I still believe it. If he showed some edge (much like he's been doing on Smackdown, actually) he could be big. If not big, he could be fairly over. The crowd does love to shout "Ballin'".

Kofi is just a natural face. He's massively over, has the exciting, high-flying moveset, and I really just can't see him as a heel. If he were to ever turn they would need to completely change his character, and I don't want to see that. If there's one thing I've learned this weekend, it's "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Neither wrestler's face runs have run their course. There is plenty of life in them. Neither of them "need" a turn.

Oh and MVP will never win a world title guys. Name a former felon who's ever won a world title in WWE. Come on guys, we're smarter than that.

I believe Booker T would be the answer to that. As a matter of fact the WWE even ran a story line about Booker's criminal past before he won his first "official" WWE branded title.
