Who is the biggest star never to sign with WWE?

Right now, I think AJ Styles, Kenzuke Sasaki and Hiroshi Tanahashi are probably the biggest stars who have never signed with WWE. Technically, AJ was employed by WWF by a technicality when WCW was bought out, but he was let go and never used. I think Toshiaki Kawada has never wrestled for WWF, but I'm not sure about that.

WCW wrestlers contracts were under time warner not WCW brand. Anyone who went to WWF in 2001 when WCW folded took a buy out and agreed to have their contract sold on to McMahon. AJ was never een technically under contract to Vince.

Yes he was. He said in an interview that John Laurinaitis called him to tell him he was going to be released and not used. The only guys who were under Time Warner were the big names like Nash who sat around collecting paychecks way after WCW folded.

I think Lou Thesz is the one to get that spot but I am not sure if he was a part of the WWWF in the old days so if it's not him I will go with either AJ Styles or Magnum TA.

I'm not gonna pretend I know a lot about Japanese wrestling, so I'm gonna say AJ Styles. The guy carried TNA on his back for the longest time, was a multi time champion in both TNA and ROH , and is currently killing in it New Japan.

A.J. Styles?

The guy is generic, and would be in the cruiserweight division in WWE. He only has any prominence because he was one of the only original guys TNA created. A.J. Lee would kick A.J. Style's ass in WWE, let alone any of the men.

When Sting came in, the last truly significant superstar joined WWE. It meant that anyone who ever meant anything in wrestling in the U.S.A. had been on WWE's books at one stage.

I can't think of anyone who hasn't signed with them who is someone WWE would grab in a heartbeat.

Sting was the last holdout. Now, anyone who hasn't been with WWE probably hasn't because Vince didn't want them.

Well there is a couple.

Magnum TA is one.

Nikita Koloff I don't think ever worked for Vince either.

Verne Gagne was a pretty damn big star in his day.

Chael Sonnen I thought was a lock to sign with WWE simply based on his name value and unrivaled charisma, don't know if you would count him

AJ Styles comes to mind offhand because he's pretty much a made man in Japan with the Bullet Club and was a top TNA guy/Indy star. Breaking necks aside, WWE would ruin him and he doesn't seem interested to go.

There are a lot of Japanese guys like Jushin "Thunder" Liger for example... but those are hard to gauge. Before I would have maybe even said KENTA but he's with NXT now with mixed results.

Lots of indy guys like Necrobutcher (was in The Wrestler, been an indy mainstay), Christopher Daniels (was in TNA I know but I know him more for his indy career/Curry Man in Japan, I don't see WWE ever calling him).

Good title on the thread, those to have "never signed" means you can still include guys like AJ and Joe who did appear for WWE albeit on Sunday Morning Shotgun.
