Who is the best you dont pay to see?

Occasional Pre-Show
Ok, so maybe the title doesnt make sense, but lets go for it. We all have main eventers like Orton, Taker, Cena, or HHH that we will plunk down our money to see. But, who are they guys you love to watch, but not the guys you by your ticket to tune in to the station to watch. Im talking about the guys you love to see, but arent the ones you think of when you sit down to watch.

For me its the Miz. Im entertained by the Miz, I like him. I think he puts on good matches, he has charisma, and he can play a face or a heel. But is he so great that I cant miss him when hes on. No, not really. So what about the rest of you in forum land?

Whose the best guy you wont pay to see?

I wont pay to see BIG SHOW...BIG SHOW is a top guy in the WWE since he debuted and has main evented a lot of times.. But i wont pay to see him sice he debuted...

Hard to say. I haven't paid for anything WWE-related in a long time because I'm sick of almost everything they do. I catch clips and reruns after the fact so I can skip the horrible parts, but I haven't spent a dime unless you count the ad-money I'm giving them via YouTube hits. So that being said, any of the top guys like Punk, Cena and Bryan would qualify as guys I like but aren't paying to see.

But you don't want me to answer with top guys, so I'm going to try some others:

• Heath Slater- I love his schtick and wish he was given more to do.
• Santino Marella- I always thought he could be a future main eventer if pushed right. But they went in another direction with him. He's still fun, but not someone anyone would empty their wallets for.
• Drew McIntyre- I'm a huge mark for Drew unlike most of the people here and can't wait for him to be pushed like I believe he deserves.
• Cody Rhodes- I've really liked him ever since his tag team with Holly. People always said Ted was the star of Legacy and even though I never debated whether Ted would go further, I always said Cody was my favorite.
• Tensai- I really like him and wish WWE would push him as a top monster heel. Just dump the stupid Japanese gimmick and make him a giant. "Giant Albert" is fine.
• Alberto Del Rio- No one seems to like him anymore, but he's still one of the most consistent wrestlers on the show. If only his gimmick matched his intensity in the ring.
• Summer Rae- I ADORE her. Every little thing she does makes me happy. Can't get enough. Slight nod to Fandango here too.

That's pretty much it without spamming the thread. I could go on with guys like Christian, Evan Bourne, Hunico, William Regal, The Miz, David Otunga, etc, but this seems like a pretty good list to me.

I don't pay to see anybody in particular. If I'm going to a WWE show, I pay to the see the production, the unfolding of storylines, a stacked card most of the time. I've dropped $20 for nosebleeds at live events, and loved it, and I've dropped $300 for ringside seats for a PPV, and loved it. It was never for a person, or a match, but because I like WWE and their shows are always fun to see. You never quite know what you're going to get.

If it's an indie show, I go to see great wrestling. Not for the TV production, because if they have an iPPV or film crew, it's probably not great. But because great wrestling is great fun. If there's wrestling, and I'm in the area, and if I have money, I'll go. I went to a Raw last year, just because it was in town, and it ended up being amazing. Shawn Michaels was there, the Undertaker was there, Triple H, The Rock, John Cena, and the entire regular crew. It's almost always worth it to go see live wrestling.

I will and have paid to see The Undertaker, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and a few legends of old. Guys that I love seeing, but aren't the reason I've spent money include The Prime Time Players, The Real Americans, 3MB, The Shield, The Wyatt Family, John Cena, and Paul Heyman. Seems like a strange list, but that's it.

I'm a complete fanboy of the guys I will pay to see. But these others, they just usually entertain me. I'm not fond of all their work, but I'm definitely interested in what they're doing most of the time.

- Alberto Del Rio: I think he is on the top of pretty much everybody's list when it comes to this subject whether they admit it or not. Del Rio consistently has some of the best matches week after week on the entire roster but most fans hate on him as a performer instead of just hating him for the heel he is, he get's a very limited response with almost everything he does & for someone who is already a multi time world champion & a former Royal Rumble winner I never see anybody wearing any of his merchandise at events or hear anybody anticipating his match-ups or what he is going to do next. I think Del Rio is the perfect example of the performer that enhances almost every card he appears on but literally almost no one actually goes because of him or to see him.
- Divas Division: Women's wrestling is a novelty, sorry if that sounds messed up but it's a fact. Very rarely in the the entire history of the sport(s entertainment) has a women's match even headlined a show (unless of course it's an all women's promotion like Shimmer) & even then a lot of fans argue how successful women headlining is & if the fans still even came to see the ladies. I have seen some amazing womens matches & whether it be with beauty or athleticism the ladies always seem to add to the show in some way or another but I can honestly say I have never paid for a ticket, dvd, t-shirt, etc. because of a female wrestler or because of a womens wrestling match.

I love this post, because it's representative of today's wrestling market. A lot of people in the forums are still under the impression that a guy like Cena or Bryan or Orton can "draw", but that's just really far from the truth.

Today's draw is the WWE brand itself. People will go see WWE shows no matter what. If John Cena goes to TNA tomorrow, very few will follow him. Some might check it out and abandon it because it doesn't have WWE's "star-power".

It's WWE who is the star of the show. Look at how Jeff Hardy was really over and one of their top guys and hardly drummed up a modicum of interest in TNA. Same with Angle, Hogan, Booker, etc.

WWE is the draw. The rest are just there to entertain the fans that WWE drew to its own shows. The wrestlers today can get over, can sell merchandise, and they can KEEP fans watching, but they can't GET fans to watch them without being in a ring with a WWE logo.

An issue with buying a ticket or a ppv is that I may be paying for the guys and gals I want to see, but I'm also financing the stuff I don't care about. I get to see The Shield, Punk, AmDrag, Cesaro, Sandow and Ziggler, but I have to get stuck watching Del Rio, Mysterio, Big Show, Sheamus, Ryback, etc. It is a give and take with the product.

My answer is Chris Jericho. He hasn't been featured like a key guy or in big matches in a long time and I wouldn't qualify him as someone who is massively important in buy-rates anymore. Yet when that guy is on the card, it may not be a key match that sells the PPV, but I am going to like seeing him. The match is also going to be good no matter who it is against.
