Now I was looking through a the WWE section of the forums, and I thought of something that I believe would be an interesting topic.

Who has been the best TNA superstar to never win the TNA World title?

In this thread I am including the NWA/TNA World title, and the current TNA title. The NWA/TNA title was used from 2002-2007, while the TNA championship has been used since then.

Now to me, the man who is the best to never hold the title, is none other than the Fallen Angle, Christopher Daniels. Chris has played a few characters in TNA including Curry Man and Suicide.

Daniels has held numerous titles in TNA/IW. This is a list of his accomplishments in TNA:

NWA World Tag Team Championship (6 times) – with Low Ki and Elix Skipper as Triple X (3), James Storm (1) and A.J. Styles (2)

TNA World Tag Team Championship (2 times, current) – with Kazarian

TNA X Division Championship (4 times)

World X Cup (2004) – with Jerry Lynn, Chris Sabin, and Elix Skipper
Feud of the Year (2005) vs. A.J. Styles

Match of the Year (2004) with Elix Skipper vs. Chris Harris and James Storm at Turning Point, December 5, 2004

Match of the Year (2006) with A.J. Styles vs. Homicide and Hernandez at No Surrender, September 24, 2006

Tag Team of the Year (2006) with A.J. Styles

Daniels should have been World Champ a long time ago.

Bully Ray. was half of the best tag team in wrestling, and now that he is kind of repackaged, he has become a dominant singles wrestler. If given a big enough push, I think he could serve as a solid champion for a decent period of time.

I have to say, Matt Morgan was a missed opportunity, for the company to go with a youth movement and be believable against any opponent...

As soon as I read the title I instantly said Christopher Daniels. This guy consistently puts on 5star matches, can work with anybody and is seriously vastly underrated on the mic. Been a fan of Daniels since the mid 90s and he continues to impress me

Honorable mention to Magnus,Douglas and Petey Williams, Bully Ray and Matt Morgan

Daniels easily, because he is one of the company's oldest veteran and has won numerous tag team title and X-Division titles. He is a good talent no doubt, but that combined with his past record with the promotion, he deserves at least one world title reign. I don't see a long world title reign for him, but anything would do. To me he is more like Benoit/Mysterio/Kane of the company, who would win a World Title just because of his talent and loyalty to the company alone.

They have tried pushing him twice, twice for the World Title in a PPV Main-Event, once in a feud with Sting.

I say give Daniels a feud with Angle, try to build him up from there. He deserves at least one shot at being a permanent maineventer.

Alex Shelley also comes to mind, but he never got any kind of main event exposure in his career, so I don't see him deserving anything. Wolfe was talented too, but his stay in TNA was very short. If TNA wanted, they could have pushed him to the main event right after his feud with Angle ended.

What about Hogan? He is the biggest name in TNA. Guys like Hogan and Cena create mass appeal. Thats why throughout their carreers they were always close to the world title. You go with the money in a business, not the art.

Daniels was never champ? Wow, well my pick would definitely have to be Chris Daniels.

But other than that i'd have to say Matt Morgan, everybody was waiting on it but it just straight up never happened, which is a shame. Missed opportunity

What has Hogan done as a wrestler in TNA other than lose to Sting? But I would agree with the person who said Matt Morgan.

I dont understand why people say Daniels deserves a reign. How does he deserve it. Working hard and sacrificing doesnt make you the best. Being the best deserves the gold. Theres thousands of people who try hard at sports, or acting, or music that bleed for their art- but they dont get the top prize because not only are they not the best- they are not that great. Daniels doesnt draw money- never has never will.

The topic was who was the BEST to never win- the BEST in TNA is Hogan and he has never won the title. You cant argue that Hogan is not the biggest name and star to ever set foot in a TNA ring. Hogan doesnt really care- hes getting a paycheck- he could be out promoting the hell out of TNA if he wanted to. And he could still generate a buzz and interest in the media. He wants to be paid. Good for him- easy money- thats what most people want.

When I read the title of the thread, Daniels is the first name that came to mind. When I first got into TNA I was surprised to hear that he never was champ. He is really good in the ring, and he and AJ, along with Joe performed magic in their X division matches. It's a shame now that he probably won't win the title before he is finished.

Christopher Daniels, without any shred of doubt. He is a phenominally gifted all around performer. He has everything needed to be a World Champion. He can wrestle five-star matches and his mic work/promos are golden. I was laughing last week on Impact when he got called out by RVD and Bully Ray wanted to take his appletini. Bully:Give me your drink, bro. Daniels: No. Bully:Give it here. Daniels: You don't even drink appletinis anyway! Priceless. Daniels also gets that you have to emotionally involve crowds, which 99% of the Impact roster fails to do successfully. Ever notice how he taunts the crowds? Like when he won the match against RVD and kept holding up the seven fingers[for the points he gained] to the fans. He was almost rubbing it in their faces.

His work has been overshadowed by AJ Styles and the numerous WWE,WCW,ECW rejects. If you look at the history of TNA and see The Fallen Angel's work, you see a skilled worker who should've been champion long ago. I thought 2006 was going to be his breakout year when he faced Sting at Slammiversary that year. Sting won and it didn't happen. TNA has Daniels in a great position these days and I cannot fathom how they keep looking past him. Imagine Christopher Daniels against Austin Aries. That would be a feud for the ages, I'm sure.

I'm sorry for not wording my thread correctly. I meant who is the best TNA Wrestler to never win the title. So not someone who has wrestled one match for the company. Once again, sorry.

i voted chris daniels. he should have won the title a long time ago. you never see him wrestle a bad match and he is a great talker. i just hope he gets his shot before to long he would have some great matches with people like aries, roode, storm, joe, and of course aj styles.

I agree with everyone else about Daniels. He definitely deserves it and i personally think that a feud between Daniels and Aries for the title would be better than his feud with A.J.

Most of those options are mark choices who never had a chance.

I agree with everyone that Chris Daniels is a hell of a talent, but I never saw him as a main event player. Sorry. No company is going to build their product around him. One thing he's achieved is absolute 'internet darling' status. Jeez.

I have 4 options that come to mind, ALL come from the early days of TNA. My missed opportunities for potential champions would be
-Monty Brown
-Kevin Nash
-Raven
-Jeff Hardy

Now let me clear up the last two before anyone flips out. Yes, Hardy and Raven eventually claimed the championship. But that's just it, they did EVENTUALLY! They missed the boat with both, Hardy during his initial run with the company from 04-05, and Raven when he first debuted. Both were WHITE HOT and fans wanted them to dethrone Jarrett. They missed major opportunities to make those guys stars in THEIR company. Same can be said about Samoa Joe when it comes to timing. Bottom line.. they've taken too long to pull the trigger.

Monty Brown and Kevin Nash fell victim to the same situation, hot contenders spoiled to strengthen Jeff Jarrett's reigns. Rumors were Nash was to dethrone Double J at the inaugural Bound for Glory. But him being unable to make the show led to the eventual reign of Rhyno that had no momentum or build, and ended within the week. Monty Brown was a real shot to create an original main eventer that no other company had their finger prints on, but they continuously killed his momentum in favor of others, and eventually just turned him heel and made him the champs lackey.

There's a number of wrestlers TNA completely dropped the ball with. That poll above barely scratches the surface.

What about Hogan? He is the biggest name in TNA. Guys like Hogan and Cena create mass appeal. Thats why throughout their carreers they were always close to the world title. You go with the money in a business, not the art.

Dude, the guy can't even wrestle anymore. He's had way too many surgeries over the last few years to even THINK about getting in a ring (outside of talking). PS - no one wants to see a 60 year old champion, I mean he's way too old to believabley beat someone in their prime. This has to be one of the worst ideas ever, sorry, but Hogan as champ isn't gonna draw any more money, if anything it would lose them money.

My pick is Matt Morgan. He's been SOOO close on so many occasions. I hope they bring him back and put him in the title picture again. He's got the look, the promo skills, intensity, and in-ring work. It doesn't make sense for him not to have had it.

A very close second for me was Pope. He went from being the hottest thing in the company with a title shot at Lockdown against AJ 2 years ago, to being barely utilized just months later. I still am a huge fan of Pope, but I fear he'll never get the push he had, and boy did he utilize that push. Real shame.

i agree with people about morgan but i also think the man one tna has messed up on is hendenz sorry for spelling cant spell is name but when he went single afta breakin up lax he was brilliant he like matt morgan but stronger and more high flying

The best to never win the world title on the current roster is, hands down, Chris Daniels, honorable mentions go to Bully Ray, Magnus, and Gunner (excluding his mic skills.)

When we look at other past wrestlers however, that comes in to question, I always felt like Monty Brown could have done good with the NWA title, and i was kinda surprised that TNA never gave Booker T the world title, same thing goes for Matt Morgan.

Mentions of former wrestlers goes to Kevin Nash, Chris Harris, and Bobby Lashley

Also i believe Desmond Wolfe would have won the world title had he not been taken out of action by his medical issue.

Most of those options are mark choices who never had a chance.

Who are you? The mark police? Seriously, people around here have a tendency to somehow think their opinion is superior to others. We all have our favorites and claiming those choices are "mark choices" is an ignorant statement in and of itself. You have your favs I'm sure. We all mark for who we like, which means you yourself are a mark in your own way.

I agree with everyone that Chris Daniels is a hell of a talent, but I never saw him as a main event player. Sorry. No company is going to build their product around him. One thing he's achieved is absolute 'internet darling' status. Jeez.

You've truly spoken like an old timer fan. Daniels was one of the original guys who cemented the X-Division into what it is now. He is a great competitor who has a unique look and can work a crowd. Size is the only thing most people claim is his downside, which is laughable to me. When guys like AJ Styles, Austin Aries, and other smaller guys are main eventing it is entirely possible that Daniels could too. What would TNA have to lose in giving Daniels a title run? It certainly could be no worse than some of the previous title holders who were less than deserving.

I have 4 options that come to mind, ALL come from the early days of TNA. My missed opportunities for potential champions would be
-Monty Brown
-Kevin Nash
-Raven
-Jeff Hardy

I have to ask, how the hell can you claim a company shouldn't be built around Daniels but these guys could? Monty Brown was a decent competitor but really green. He had a unique look but was God-awful in the ring. Kevin Nash? Really? His better days were long past him when he was trying to win the then NWA Title from Jarrett. His injury history was another reason not to put the title on him. Raven is probably the best of this list. He was a great debut when he entered in TNA, but, they didn't book him well. It was to the point of obsurdity on some occasions and by the time he did win the belt, most people had lost interest because they knew Jarrett would regain it. Jeff Hardy was unreliable and had no showed on several occasions during the time period you are referring to.

Christopher Daniels has alot more to offer than you seem to give him credit for. If we are judging by who has been in TNA the longest and deserves to win the most, I believe Daniels has to be the top choice.

I have to give the devil his dues, so I think that Christopher Daniels is the best to never win the World Title. I'm pretty sure that he isn't the type of guy where you can bet on because he doesn't have a marketable look.

However he actually gives everything he has to have great matches in every single feud they put him. I wouldn't be surprised if some way or another he actually fights against Austin Aries/James Storm for the championship in 2013. He showed a lot in his last rivalry with AJ Styles, so he deserves that push.

Other guy that comes to my mind is Magnus. I know that he is very young, but the guy is the total package, he's a boss on the microphone, he looks like an Hollywood Movie Star and he backs it up in the ring. I would actually want to see him or Joe turning and having a good rivalry. It would provide some good matches and some good promos.

Yeah definitely Christopher Daniels, I don't think he will ever have the TNA world title but he will go down as one of TNA's best for sure. Guy is in his 40's now and still amazing ring worker and his mic work is superb too, especially his current heel self.

Desmond is second for me but if he didn't have to retire I think he would've definitely been a world champion eventually, probably around now.

Don't worry, if Magnus stays with TNA, and I think he will, he will be world champ someday like you say he has it all and he's putting on strong showings in the BFG series. And since everyone has to face everyone at least once Magnus will face Joe at some point so that will be interesting!

"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Matt Morgan are equally tied in my book for best never to win. Each have a different style BUT ARE WAY OVER with the crowds. Morgan had some killer matches with Angle and Hernandez. Daniels has ALWAYS been amazing in any match he's put into. I think his age is what cost him. I hope they eventually put the belt on him. I get the feeling Morgan is WWE bound.
