Who is a better heel than Randy Orton?

Dark Match Jobber
Ok, think about this...
What heel has done more devious and overall bad things than Orton? This list of things this man has done to numerous wrestlers and their families goes on and on. I was just wondering. Let me kno

Certainly Randy Orton is a great heel, and has done some great things to put him over as the top heel of the company currently.
But there are people that are better heels than Randy Orton, not by actions alone, but by the way they carry themself as heels, Triple H for example, his heel work in 99-2001 and again in 2002-2005 was absolutely amazing, to me Triple H is also the greatest heel of all time (as I believe I stated in a favourite heel wrestler of all time list)

Chris Jericho might also go as far as being better, his promo's are most definatly better, and he has some mean tactics in the ring too, and outsite of it, the yelling at commentators, the yelling and slapping of opponents, the humiliation of putting people in The Walls of Jericho after the match, everything about Chris makes him a great heel, and better than Randy Orton.

Now don't get me wrong I like Randy as a heel alot, and I hope he remains heel for a long time to come, because I simply cannot see him as a babyface character, but the two above mentioned (I could add Ric Flair, but I'm sticking to WWE employees at this point) simply has a better flow as heels.

If you want to base it on family matters, then what about Ric Flair, during his fued with Macho Man Randy Savage, claiming to have had an affair with Miss Elizabeth?

Or Raven, during his ECW fued with Sandman, when he turned Sandman's own son against him?

Well if you are talking devious and sick things you have one man in the WWE who is above and beyond. Try and guess.

He kidnapped a female
He hooked up man's testicles to electricity
He physically murdered an unborn baby
He lit a crippled human being on fire.
He forced a women into marriage
He allegedly had sex with a dead corpse.
He also set his own brother on fire and tried to chop him with an axe.

Including all this, he is violently paranoid and mentally disturbed.

Wearing a mask for over 20 years of his life to hide scars that never existed.
Believing he couldn't speak at all or couldnt speak without the use of an electrolarynx.
Hearing voice in his head about a certain day of the year.

Yeah orton has nothing on Kane.

(side note, Undertaker killed his own parents and murdered paul bearer by burying him in cement)

While there have been other that have done more devious things then Orton, none do it better then Orton. The others have jumped back and forth across the fence many times while Orton has spent the great majority of his career as a heel. Imo, he's becoming the next Stone Cold...getting good pops even though he's a number one heel.

Old School, the orginal Sheik. I wasn't born yet when The Shiek was terrorizing the midwest (namely Detroit and The Joe Louis Arena and Cobo Hall) but The Shiek without a doubt struck terror, fear and worry in the minds and hearts of the fans who paid to see if their heros (namely Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk & Bobo Brazil) could detrone the U.S. Champion. The Shiek was notorious for throwing balls of fire into his opponets eyes and even pulling out his famed pencil to either gouge the eyes & foreheads of his opponets or their mouths. The Shiek was the greatest heel ever...

Recently, Triple H has been a tremendous heel. I always loved his heel work, especially as the leader of Evolution when he turned against Randy Orton and when he gave the pedigree to Shawn Michaels after trying to recurit him to come back in the 1st place. His series of matches with Mick Foley (especially the Hell in the Cell match) and The Rock were classic heel bouts and even when he had his issues with Austin were great as well. Nobody better at playing the heel today than HHH. You can't help but hate him.

IMO, Triple H is the greatest heel of all time as well. His work in the Mcmahon-Helmsley Era and Evolution was absolutely fantastic. His promos were gold.

I really like Orton and I'm curious as to where this face turn can go, but I miss the "Legend Killer' Orton. This viper gimmick has gotten very old imo. I miss the Orton that showed emotion and was cocky as hell. He always looks like he's about to kill someone nowadays, I miss when he had that "I am better than everyone else" look. IMHO, the cocky young orton of yesteryear is definitely up there with 99-05 heel Triple H.

He's not really a good heel because he's always getting cheers.

Vickie Guerrero has to be the best heel in the WWE today. It's hard to top the heat she gets, no doubt about it.

If we are talking current WWE it is Chris Jericho and CM Punk. Those two guys are by far the best two heels in the E at this moment. Hell throw Edge into the mix. I thoroughly enjoyed Edge's run as a heel more so than I have Randy's.

But if we are talking all time, how have we not mentioned Jake "The Snake" Roberts and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. Jake Roberts had his snake attack Randy Savage and that was serious one of the scariest things I saw growing up. Roberts was vicious and cynical, the guy was just flat out one of the most underrated heels ever. Roberts had the look of the heel and the E made the mistake of turning him face and I think that hurt his reputation a bit. And Ted DiBiase, do I really need to explain him? The guy was sly and sneaky and used that money to his advantage. He bought Andre, he bought Sapphire, he screwed little kids out of some big bucks, the list goes on. Hell look at some of his old vignettes with the public pool and such. The guy was as devious as it gets. Orton is good, no doubt, but nowhere near the greatest ever.

I'm surprised that no one has yet to mention Vinnie Mac. Vince McMahon is a better heel then Orton because Vince is just plain easier to hate. From his arrogant strut all the way to the way he speaks on the mic. Vince McMahon is just one of the easiest people to hate. He knows he has the power and uses it to every advantage he can think of. He has grown men kiss his bare ass for crying out loud. I'm sure people will agree to this because Vince has always been one to get a big crowd reaction as a heel. People just love to see this man get the holy hell beat out of him.

I think the best heel would have to be Jericho or Punk. I think that they can both really make a crowd boo them big time. CM Punk's gimmick of being "better than you" because he's straight-edged really gets a crowd. All he has to do is say that and he's getting flooded with boos. Chris Jericho always manages to impress me as a heel because he does things like insult the crowd for absolutely nothing. Constantly calling them parasites and hypocrites really gets people wriled up. Sure Orton was great at being heel, when he had Rhodes and DiBiase come out and help him. But I still think Punk and Jericho are bigger heels. Plus, Randy's sort of in a tweener role, not face or heel.

It would be hard to top Orton as a heel currently,BUT during his title match with Sheamus...the crowd was noticably behind Orton,Could we be seeing the Austin effect happening here?..where he is such a good heel,it wins people over??

But for all time...I got to go back to 1990-91 Sgt. Slaughter..
back when he "became" an Iraqi. The heat he got was so bad,the man needed armed gurads at one point!! There were actual/credible bomb threats against him and his family

When the heat gets so bad it crosses THAT line...it is hard to top!

Right now, at this point in time, I don't believe there to be any heel as meaningful as Orton. That being said, this implosion of Legacy angle is either a pretty weak face turn or a badly booked face turn for Rhodes and DiBiase. He's lost the steam he had coming out of the Koft angle since going against Sheamus at the Rumble.

The guys I see standing in line right behind Orton as top heels are:

CM Punk
I hadn't watched wrestling from 2001 to early 2009, and I hated Punk the first time I saw him, as a face. Boring as ALL hell. But his heel gimmick is 100% gold. I've since looked up his past work. I don't think many would work in his role, as he lives the gimmick.

Post heel turn, I have been amazed at his ability to work up good heel heat at almost any time, in or out of the ring. His taunts are some of the best (I loved him pointing at Cena, mouthing "go to sleep", and placing his hands by his head and lying his head on them. GOLDEN!). Also, he got screwed a bit by the back office while overseas (resulting in his HIAC match being bumped down the card and rewritten into a squash), and he took it like a man, never gripping online, not threatening to jump to TNA, etc.

Lastly, I love the SES as it reminds me, and I'm sure many others, of Raven's Flock. Again, if anyone can do that gimmick perfectly, it's CM Punk. The beard is a nice touch.

The Miz
Again, another one I hated when I first saw him. I was solidly on the Morrison bandwagon. Miz was coming into his own post draft night, picking fights with Cena and getting embarrassed. Almost banned from the Summerfest, I hear.

Bragging Rights changed that. The Miz looked stronger in the promos with JM leading up to it. The Miz looked stronger coming out of their match. The Miz has stepped up, from annoying big mouth to annoying big mouthed up and comer. His push keeps growing stronger, now holding the Unified tag and US titles (coming out with 3 belts looks bad ass, no matter who it's on). Somewhere along this line I started seeing him as a threat to others, and ready to move out of the mid card.

His work on NXT with Daniel Bryanson has sold me on his potential as a top heel. He just has it; the intangible characteristic of being able to stand out amongst many of the others before and after his rise. While JM has floundered on Smackdown with little direction, Miz has been given the ball, to a degree, and damn has he run with it.

The best heel at the moment is definately CM Punk. He get soooo much heel heat its not even funny. Im actualy watching SD right now on my DVR and when he interupted Rey hegot the biggest heel reaction I've ever heard, then it was even worse when the segment ended and sang Happy Birthday. Not one person was silent. It was great.

Honerable mention Chris Jericho. Great heel over the past few years, but to me he has lost is luster and is becoming a little stale.

Honerable mention Eric Bischoff (excuse the spelling) I dont think any 1 mentioned him. He gets great heel reactions, especially as Raw GM.

As for Orton, I love him. He is a great heel, but he is starting to have the stone cold effect, and i cant wait for the face turn. Watch out Cena, Orton is becoming the guy and quickly.

Edge did an awesome job as a heel. In his moment he was way over Randy. During the feud with Taker x example he had moments to be remebered, especially when doing promos. You can't forget that great promo with Mick Foley, when Foley "made him bring the real Edge out".

Jericho in the feud with Shawn was simply superb.

I see in an earlier post that someone mentioned old school, which was foolish of myself to overlook the old school heels such as The Sheik. There was also Kevin Sullivan who was the biggest heel here in Florida in the early to mid 80's, how about Larry Zbysco, he was hated everywhere he went, he's probably the only man that could draw heat in the arctic circle> Rowdy Roddy Piper was another old school heel that people loved to hate.

no one is a better heel than orton, punk is close.im im more of a tna fan than wwe but they have no one close to these two ,aj is heading that way but hes not there yet.

This is a tough one because many great heels have had different styles. Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase owned a slave; Big Boss Man fed a dog to its owner and crashed a funeral; Jake Roberts sicced a cobra on Macho Man (TWICE - one at the wedding and another bit him); but then there's Sgt. Slaughter circa late 1990-1992. I don't think anyone received as much death threats as he did... hell, he was such a good heel, the WWF had to change their WrestleMania VII venue! Slaughter is way better than Orton ten-fold.

I love this! I agree in a way but its hard to look pat Triple H (McMahon-Helmsley and Evolution)

Edge (With Lita and then with Vickie, I tuned in everyweek to see what he was gonna do!)

Classic Kane---good but scary stuff!

Chris Jericho- from as afr back as his WWE/F debut! Great on the stick

William Regal- He used to get great heat!

CM pUnk- I love PUnk as a heel, he's like a mix or Orton and Jericho!

Big Boss Man fed a dog to its owner and crashed a funeral;

Hah!! Totally!!! The funeral crashing storyline with the Big Show was ruthless. Completely unnecessarily evil. Orton's stuff about Eddie Guerrero being in hell was pretty bad, but dragging a coffin away with a police car beats it, I think.

Is Orton the best heel right now, though? Yeah, I guess. Punting the whole McMahon family last year was pretty mean.

Here's a link to the Big Show/Bossman funeral thing, if anyone's interested. It gets good at 2:10.

I'm probably just reiterating what has been said so far, but here goes.

In terms of heels in the WWE during my 15 on and off years of watching, there are just a few that stand out more than Randy.

Triple H - What can I say, he's a guy you can love and hate at the same time. I've always been a big Triple H fan, even as a heel, and there have been times where the character would piss me off to no end. His psychology is on another level when it comes to get under peoples skin. He's without a doubt the greatest I've seen.

CM Punk - A straight edge messiah can pull at the heartstrings of even an atheist. Punk has been given the freedom to use his creativity as a heel, something I don't believe the company did enough of during his face run. His character is a social zealot, and it brings forth ideas and memories of religious zealotry. This is something just about anyone, aside from said zealots, can relate to disliking. The better than you taunts are just wonderful icing on an already delicious cake.

Chris Jericho - He's not menacing really, not like Triple H or Vince, but he is not only entertaining, he's able to endear the character to marks and smarks at the same time. His little idiosyncrasies are what make him great, the yelling, the taunting, the setting up himself to look silly or cowardly. It's a perfect mix of cartoon and real life. He has a level of subtlety that goes unmatched.

Others would have to include Brett Hart, who even in the turmoil of 97 put on a great anti-american performance. Same goes for Sheik, Slaughter, any anti-american.

Don't forget Hot Rod though, CM Punk wouldn't be the same without him. Punk grew up idolizing him, and he had subtlety too.

Before I make my point I'd like to state that I'm a big Orton fan and really enjoy his work every week and believe he's one of the best in the company. However...

He can't be that great of a heel if he was getting cheered before they even turned him.

Historically he's been a good heel but in the last year or so he's been getting R-K-O chants consistently from pockets of the audience. In the last month or so it's been more than pockets. When Randy and Ted have faced each other in the past Ted got the cheers and it appeared the story would be Ted taking a stand and fighting his mentor, but now because of the audience reactions to Randy it's become Orton getting sick of his two proteges. It's difficult for two to get cheered against one.

I will say that I'm glad he is still acting like a heel despite his crowd reactions.

Well I actually think there are much more entertaining heels than Randy Orton, or atleast more than his recent persona. I preferred Randy Orton as a heel back in around 2005 - 2007 when he was the cocky arrogant guy, but when he became this sort of "disturbed" type character with the slow walk to the ring and the wierd anger, I thought he became more boring and so much less..lively. I preferred his old heel character.

But I have always loved Edge as a heel, he does it so well and is very entertaining, in my opinion, the best heel of his generation and of recent times. It dissappointed me now that he has done a sort of face turn.

Vince McMahon is also a terrific heel, i know some people don't like the McMahon family on television but I have always loved every second they are on television with their "dysfunctional family" routine. Stephanie and Vince McMahon in particular are amazing heels and very entertaining.

Triple H between 2002 and 2005 was untouchable as a heel, there was no one better. I would love to see him go back to that character again.

CM Punk Having him cut promos During Matches just shows how arrogant he really is. Also Having him come out Week After Week maybe stale and boring to you but the amount of heat he generates from the crowd is simply amazing.

Chris Jericho I think having Jericho as WHC leading up to Wrestlemania was an excellent choice. Jericho is by far the Best Promo Cutter in the WWE right now Along with CM Punk. So it would make sense to have him as a Heel.

Randy Orton's current character is hardly even a heel. He is a tweener well on his way to becoming a babyface. He has officially gotten the Stone Cold effect.

However, the entire time spanning his "Legend Killer" gimmick all the way up until right after his "I.E.D." gimmick, he was unarguably the best heel in the business. To start things off he RKO'd his then kayfabe girlfriend Stacy Keibler. Then he had a 9 month long feud with the Undertaker, in the middle of which he was claiming to have "killed" Taker. Then he said Eddie Guerrero went to hell. That comment got the most heel heat I've ever seen a single comment get, EVER. Then he was picking on WWE Legends, including Hulk himself, and he was flirting with Hulk's daughter. Then he punted John Cena's father in the head. That was another one of those "did he seriously just go there?" moments, much like the Guerrero comment. Then he feuded with HBK and Jeff Hardy, two of the most over babyfaces in the business at the time. After he came back from injury and formed Legacy, had the huge feud with Triple H, and pulled out the IED card, which made people DESPISE him. I mean, you had this guy who had just punted the owner and his two kids threatening to sue the WWE for all they're worth and make sure that Wrestlemania doesn't happen. Every mark in the world was FREAKING OUT at that point.

I'm not saying he's the best ever, but Orton is definitely one of the top 2 or 3 heels of the 21st century so far.
