Who Are the Arctic Monkeys?

Sound like another generic UK Band to me. What is their appeal? The fact that they are frozen monkeys? Theoretically, monkeys couldn't survive in the Arctic...so technically, they are a dead band.

In other words...good name...

So, Luther, being apparently the one AM fan here....tell us what's good about them.

I was thinking the same thing, I've never heard of this band until a couple (as in 2 or 3) people on this site were talking about them

The Arctic Monkeys suck. But they are certainly mainstream, if you think they aren't, you're simply ignoring the music world that isn't America. They're freakin' huge in the UK.

Oh man, you need to chill out. Only the 50's/60's and 70's regions are even done. And even in a field of 64, it will be hard for the Arctic Monkeys to break through. Maybe they get an outbracket match if they have enough support. But nothing is final in the tournament yet.

Hey I'm just merely pointing out that you would choose to put in a band that would potentially not get very far in the tournament and by decision leave out a band that could have otherwise proven to be either be a regional favorite or a darkhorse later in the tournament

Why do you learn that there are bands outside of the American bands? Arctic Monkeys are huge in the UK, and rightly so. They're a good band and definately deserve to be in the tournament.

Maybe so. But most bands are nowadays. Honestly, name a few bands that we'll honestly talk about highly in 10 years? There's not many. And that's not down to bad taste or whatever, it's down to how commercialised everything is lately.

I hate to defend the Arctic Monkeys, because their music is shit and when I saw them at V-Fest they put on one of the worst live shows I have ever seen, but they did release a record a year ago that was in the top 10 on the music charts from 15 countries. It hit #7 in the states. I'd say that kind of makes them mainstream.
