Which WWE Superstar's Theme Fit Their Character the Best

TJ Matics

It was never the same.
I think a theme is a huge part of the character, so when we get theme's with no words I'm always kind of bummed. Like seriously, I want more than just a beat, I want a story behind the character, at the very least, how they see themselves...
The Characters whose theme's were God handed down to fit their character

HHH

"It's all about the Game, and how you play it, it's all about control, and if you can take it, it's all about pain and who's gonna make it..."

This to me just completely sums up HHH's whole heel run, especially during Evolution. And also his transition into King of Kings

"...On your knees dog..."
"Where the traitor lost both his name and his face..."

This also sums up HHH when he was at that point of his career, where he felt he reached the level that he literally needed to be bowed to :worship:

HBK

"I think I'm cute, I know I'm Sexy..."
Just summed up Shawn in ther ring and out back in his old days :lmao:

VKM

Fits Vince to a T, because old Vince, not old feeble Vince, but Old Vince with hair, this theme is just, HIM

Randy Orton

Voices, forget about it. Everyone I know, well me and my brother, were so pissed when he lost his old music, because we loved it. But this theme went right along with his story and character :

"You have your rules and your religion, all designed to keep you safe, but when rules start gettin' broken, you starting question your fate, I have a voice that is my savior, hates to love and loves to hate, I have a voice that has the knowledge, and the power to rule your fate."

CM Punk

This just goes right along with his now main-event persona, he started all this backstage outsource material, the cult of personality :)

Honorable Mentions
Batista's Theme - I Walk Alone
CM Punk's first theme - This Fire Burns

I agree with all that you've said, Punk definately fits his theme perfectly but for me there are two others.

Ziggler's theme. Fits him perfectly as his character is so vain and the lyrics really signify this.

Cody's theme. Its weird because there are no lyrics but this for me is an absolute gift of a theme for his gimmick. Its almost as if WWE had this in the works for years for the right gimmick.

Pathetic IC run ? When Drew McIntyre was IC Champion he brought the prestige back to the IC Title.Drew's fued with Matt Hardy was one to remember.

This I actually agree with. I know Matt hardy is a touchy subject nowadays, but his feud with McIntyre was very entertaining TV at the time...in my opinion.

One guy who I think has a very fitting theme song was Edge.

"On this day, I see clearly". He first got this theme song around the time he turned heel and won the MITB ladder match, so in a way it was a perfect way to describe his mind-set at the time.

Cody's theme. Its weird because there are no lyrics but this for me is an absolute gift of a theme for his gimmick. Its almost as if WWE had this in the works for years for the right gimmick.

Amen, I loved his "smoke and mirrors" theme song but this one is so reminiscent of Mankinds remix once he'd done his full blown face turn back in 1998, but with Cody it's was from the dashing theme song to this grotesque song with heavy guitar riffs and loud drum beats that just doesn't fit the dashing persona yet he's embraced the song and really played it up well to the point that it's fitted his persona should be his theme song of choice once his "injury" angle is complete going forward.

Everyone has that one song that fits them, Shawn had "sexy boy" Undertaker has his current one but mixed with more gong and longer and short intros, Bret had "hart attack" like Austin had "hell frozen over" and Randy has his "voices" and HHH has "the game". Theme songs don't make gimmicks/personas they enhance them and if xyz has the right theme at the right time he could get himself over greatly, like Drew has the sinister scotsman persona and that theme song with lyrics about broken dreams, then again you had RVD with one of a kind and i never really thought that theme fitted him, I much prefered his original wwf theme song or walk by pantera. But each to their own.

The one guy I believe needs a new theme is John Cena he really needs to tweak the song up at least, I'm all for guys keeping theme songs for years but 6.5 years something needs to be done to tweak it, if only to freshing the wrestler up.

Cody Rhodes.
It gave me chills the first time I heard his new theme. A distorted version of his previous theme - just like his character is now a distorted version of his former character. It fits perfectly.

How can anyone be a better answer for this question than Undertaker. IMO no star has never had music flow with their gimmick as well as the Undertaker did. The mortician theme, then the Ministry when he became a vicious cult-like leader, then Rollin' as the American Bad Ass, and back to the Mortician theme as he reverted back to the Deadman. The only person in history who comes close to this type of seamless evolution between in music and gimmick is Triple H, who used "My Time" when it became his time.

I think some themes these days are better than the wrestlers themselves, but for me the themes that have no lyrics are better. My favorite theme is the nwo theme it was perfect for the group, two others that i like are the stone cold and the rock themes because the first few seconds of the theme are the most powerfull part of the theme, i like the cm punk "this fire burns" theme also for the same reason

Definitely have to go with Punk's here, the reason I think it's the best option here aside from the fact that it fits his personality and his character is that other superstars have their themes tailor made by Jim Johnston(who is awesome btw), but Punk's is a song that was already popular on it's own and made it his. On top of that the way that he worked it into his contract that he get to use an outside song that would have to be payed for by the company adds to it's brilliance because that is the epitome of what Punk's character is and who doesn't love Cult of Personality. The song is about someone who uses mass media or propaganda to create a heroic image, and with this song and how he obtained it, that is what makes this the perfect fit.

Ok... even though it's only like the 8th post in the thread or something... but how in the blue hell has only one person said The Undertaker? I need to be the second. There is NO THEME that is better than Taker's... as far as fitting for a character goes. It really can't be said any simpler than that.

It speaks for itself. Mark Henry has a theme called "Sombodies Gonna Get It", how else would any other song suit someone better? The lyrics fit him perfectly too, "the mean of the mean, the nightmare dream." Before Henry's Hall of Pain persona I hated the dude but always loved his theme, it's badass and suits him to a tee. Plus, now that Henry is actually relevant time to get him more acknowledgement.

In the immortal words of howard finkel THE ULLLLLLLLLTIMATE WARRIOR.....Loved the drums in that entrance just intense and so was he......The Undertaker's too

Gotta agree with the evolution (no pun intended) of Triple H's themes from My Time to The Game to King Of Kings, and also The Undertaker as stated above. I really liked JoMo's theme but it's getting a little stale now. NWO had a great theme too. Loved Eddie's Latino Heat - fit him perfectly, as did Benoit's entrance. Both Punk's Living Colour and Killswitch Engage tunes were perfect for him, and Batista's I Walk Alone was mega. If I had to make a choice I'd go with HHH The Game.

Whether it be the Evolution theme or either of HHH's themes...I go with Motorhead because of three little words all must know...

LEMMY IS GOD!!!

With Living Colour coming in at a close second, been a fan of them since Vivid came out in 88!!

im gonna say the undertakers actually fits with or with out johnny cash, i also think kanes one as well while he was the whc and i no im gonna get ripped for this but also cena but onyl due to the fact that he has the whole u cant see me thing going and the song is called u cant c me

In the past I'd say Macho Man had the best suited theme, Pomp & Circumstance was pretty fitting for his character and it always got the crowd going. Also Flair's use of 2001's theme was awesome.

Punk's use of Living Colour is pretty good, in fact I think WWE should ante up and let more guys use legit music. Nothing against Jim Johnstone, but I think today's era needs more...

Currently, I think the best one is Cody Rhodes, it reminds me a lot of Gangrel's back in the day.

If i have to chose it's
Undertakers - Graveyard Symphony, Prince of Darkness, Ministry all these themes screamed someone that wasn't mortal or atleast dealt in the occult and u didn't want to mess with.
and in a close second
Triple H, My Time and The Game (+King of King edit) both My Time and The Game are exactly what he is in character at the time.

other obvious choices for other to possibly chose
Hulk Hogan - A Real American, that's exactly what he portrayed though it was all a lie :)
Randy Savage - Pomp'n'Circumstance (exactly what savage was) very flashy
Demolition - no need to describe, the song reeked demolishing things
Sycho Sid - Snapped. (Sycho themes)
Mankind - Ode to Frued (so different)

there's a few, there's plenty more that could be chosen

I know the Hardys are not exactly well liked here, but I just thought this theme fits him like a glove.

From the music, to the lyrics such as "a thousand threats I've heard before" represents him even till now.

Undertaker and HHH are easy ones. HBK w/ Sherri was ground-breaking.

But Bret Hart's music suited him the best. It was hard hitting and to the point a lot like how he worked. He got people fired up and really gets the adrenaline pumping.

But who could of pictured a guy like Mr. Perfect coming out to anything else?

Although I'm personally not a huge fan of his, Ric Flair using a piece of classical music (Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss) that was instantly recognisable and suggested class as well as a sense of timelessness was a perfect fit for one of the all-time greats.
From the 'Woo!' at the start, to the triumphant heralding of the trumpets set against the booming drums, it says so much without any lyrical re-enforcing of what his character is all about. Just about perfect.

CM Punk by far. If you listen to the words of the song its pretty much describing what Punk as become in recent months. Its basically talking about different leaders and how tehy had the ability to make a change through their words and gain a following because of it, which is EXACTLY what Punk has done

Randy Orton

This song fits its Superstar better then any other theme song in the WWE. Randy Orton uses Rev Theory's Voices and what a theme song it is. I think it's damn near impossible to find a better suiting song for The Viper. "I hear voices in my head they council me they understand, they talk to me," that's basically Randy Orton's entire gimmick right there. Sometimes, I believe the WWE took Randy Orton and scultped him, his character and his gimmick to this song perfectly. Awesomeness.

Mark Henry

Dragon Saga hit the nail on the head and didn't even smash his finger. Another great pick is Mark Henry's theme by Three 6 Mafia in Some Bodies Gonna Get It. His entire current gimmick is based of his song and it fits well. I like Three 6 Mafia and this song was done great. Whoever said Henry's song needed changing was high on shit Amy Winehouse wouldn't touch.

Nobodies theme fits them better than undertaker's theme.

This is a silly thread all wrestlers music is taylor made if not chosen to fit a chatacter. Cm punks two themes fit him well...edge's theme is perect for him, there are some wrestlers who havent found there theme like daniel bryan...justin gabriel, wade barrett, and even ted dibiasse needs a new theme.

Undertakers Graveyard Symphony is the best fitting theme of all time without a doubt its dark eerie and together with the lights out its the perfect fit.

in recent days Cody Rhodes theme is the most fitting with the grotesque character and more evil music than the original smoke and mirrors version making his character darker

Sorry, but it is really silly to think that only WWE can come up with the right music, when historically they used licensed music. It breaks my heart now to watch a WWE DVD of an old event... Rick Derringer's Demoliton Theme, Koko's use of Morris Day's "The Bird", Dusty Rhodes "American Dream" theme all replaced with generic cheaper in house themes...

Licensed music has a large place, but only seemingly if the talent is worth spending the money on... WWE spent $600,000 to get Voodoo Chile for Hogan, sure that was a stupid deal but "Cult" has cost WWE peanuts for a much bigger return for artist and most importantly Punk.
