Which wrestlers would be good in MMA?

Uncle Sam

Rear Naked Bloke
I can't think of any, so I'm going to steal Konnan's. Yes, that's right - Konnan's.

I think his first suggestion may or may not have been Kurt Angle. He's at least forty now, isn't he? He's said that he'd be capable of beating Chuck Liddel. I'm not entirely sure he couldn't what with Chuck's uncanny ability to get whooped these days. Still, he's in his forties now, isn't he? He can't fight for any prolonged amount of time.

He also said Senshi. The logic being, I suppose, that his kicks are quite hard. The technique, as far as MMA goes, would be shit of course. He tries to throw any of those fuckers in an MMA match and he'll be unconscious before he even pulls his leg back. Still, he's young (um, probably) and agile. He may have even had some formal training.

Samoa Joe was another one. Again, I'm guessing it was because of the kicks. Fat fucks can do MMA too, y'know. I read an article criticising his MMA technique though, so that may be a no-go. Then again, it was from FSM. Could be totally untrue. His punches weren't short enough apparently.

AJ Styles was one. We never did get Konnan to explain. Maybe somebody could help me out here. Would be nice.

I think that CM Punk could do MMA, I think he would be the best or anything like that, he is a muay thai kickboxer, but hes 220 pounds though which would put him in the heavyweight divison where I don't think he would fair to well.

I agree with you on Kurt Angle i think he could be a good MMA fighter, but I don't think he can beat the iceman.

Shelton Benjamin, easily.

First of all, he was Brock Lesnar's team and roommate in college. So, there's one angle for you. But plus... his record was great.

I could very well see him becoming a GSP-like fighter. I mean, think about it. GSP is a fantastic wrestler, but why is he better than all the other wrestlers in the sport whose background in Amateur Wrestling is far superior to GSP's? It's simply because of GSP's athleticism, and athleticism is one thing Shelton Benjamin definitely processes. Plus, with a lot of work, I'm sure Shelton could develop a great striking game as well.

Shelton Benjamin by far and large would be the most successful at Mixed Martial Arts than anyone currently in the professional wrestling business, and there's not a single doubt in my mind about that.

I'm going with Kurt Angle & Shelton Benjamin.

Why? It's simple. They both have the amateur background needed to help them succed in mixed martial arts. Quite easily, they could hold on their own in their weight catagories. They're both quick and agile, and I can see Benjamin being very good with the grappling. Plus, Angle would just kill on the submissions.

Why no mention of Charlie Haas? He has an amateur wrestling background... I think. He's just as qualified as Shelton Benjamin. Probably. I reckon he could manage big slams and the like.

The only problem with Haas and Benjamin is that they are both well over 205 pounds which means they would have to compete in the heavyweight division with the likes of Mir, Lesner, and Couture. I can see them doing ok in this division but I can't see them winning a title or anything like that.
