Which was the greatest parking lot brawl match in history?

CM Steel

A REAL American
Over the years we've seen some classic and epic wrestling matches. Hardcore matches, falls count anywhere matches, I quit matches. But the parking lot brawl matches are often forgotton in the world of wrestling. Like one of the very first official parking lot brawls that took place at Wrestlemania 12 between WWF/E legend Rowdy Roddy Piper and Goldust. When the Hot Rod beat the living shit out of Dusty Rhodes kid in Anaheim at the pond. Speaking of Dusty Rhodes, does anybody remember that parking lot brawl match later on that year in "96 between Steve Regal and Fit Finlay in WCW?

In 2003 in the the WWE we saw the very first "Latino Street Fight" between John Cena and the late great Eddie Guerrero on Smackdown. A match that isn't even re-visited on WWE classics. John Cena and JBL had a pretty decent parking lot brawl match at the now defunct Great American Bash pay per-view a few years back.

We will never see an award presented to any two wrestlers at a wrestling show (I.E. the Slammys). But here, what is your opinion on which was the greatest parking lot brawl match in history?

A few of the best parking lot brawls are the Regal/Finlay parking lot brawl in WCW, the Piper/Goldust Hollywood Backlot Brawl at Wrestlemania 12, John Cena and JBL in a New York City Parking Lot Brawl and the Steve Blackman/Ken Shamrock Iron Circle Match. Out of all those matches, I'd pick the Finlay/Regal parking lot brawl. I've been a fan of both Finlay and Regal since the mid 90s, so this match is definitely my favorite

It's already been mentioned, but Cena vs Guerrero was a heck of a brawl. I really enjoyed that match, and the short little feud that led up to it. That fight elevated Eddie and Cena to a new level of relevancy on SmackDown, at least in mye eyes.

I would agree with most & say that this match has never been a huge favorite of mine & most seem to be done poorly or just plain wrong.

But I EASILY think that the first true Parking Lot Brawl in WWF, with Mr. Perfect attacking Shawn Michaels from behind in 1993 prior to their IC title match at Summerslam was the best! It was a true 'brawl' & it seemed extremely authentic. Not to mention, I think it was Mene Gene's or someones car got legitimatly damaged in the process. An absolute CLASSIC IMO!

The other that stands out to me is the 'Hollywood Backlot Brawl' at Mania between Goldust & Piper. I great brawl all through out LA & the stadium. Again, it seemed like a true knock down, drag out fight.

Out of all those matches, I'd pick the Finlay/Regal parking lot brawl. I've been a fan of both Finlay and Regal since the mid 90s, so this match is definitely my favorite

I agree wholeheartedly, Regal vs Finlay in WCW was one solid, stiff brawl. Nothing I believe can compare to that cracker.

Goldust Piper comes to mind because of the whole OJ car chase that I remember thinking was hilarious. That was just a fun match to watch that I believe started the PPV and then ended a few matches later. Good time.

I actually liked it a lot when Crash Holly was hardcore champion and instated the 24/7 rule because every episode of raw and smackdown had a creative tom and jerry like segment.

I might be missing the point since most of the match was indoors (in fact I think it was an indoor parking garage where it ended even), but Halftime Heat empty arena match between Rock and Mankind is a favorite. Looking back and watching it, it's really really corny. Theres sound effects, Vince McMahon's goofy commentary, and rock getting pinned by a forklift in like slow motion. It's ridiculous all throughout! But Mankind came out with the WWF championship, just crazy.

i too concur Goldust Piper is the only one that really is memorable just because it was so weird and the whole car chase thing with video from OJ's car chase.

and the other would be Eddie vs Cena, since not only was it a circle of cars there was people cheering them on too.

as for best backstage matches, any of the Boiler Room Brawl matches between Taker and Mankind. Road Dogg vs Al Snow (hardcore title) ending outside in the snow (pun intended), Big Show vs Kane vs Raven. and Half Time Heat Rock vs Mankind (world title).

Regal/Finlay easily. Two tough guys going at it in a parking lot is a winner for me everytime. It doesn't get any better than that. For entertainment purposes I liked Golddust/Piper too. It had the OJ chase, and had some pretty good action in it. This is not my favorite type of match, but these were two really good ones IMO.

While technically not a match, The Jerry Lawler/Eddie Gilbert parking lot brawl from 1988 was classic! They brawled all over the studio and into the parking lot. Eddie Gilbert eventually body slammed Lawler through a windshield. Rumors were people across the street from the studio saw this going on and didn't realize it was part of the show and called the police!

regal vs Fit Finlay wins for me. WCW had another one that was weird. The Hardcore Invitational sometime in 99 or 2000. It was in a junkyard maybe? Not sure really but it was full of a lot of midcard wrestlers trying to hang on in WCW PLUS Fit Finlay. The match was terrible with explosions and the like and nearly every worker in the match ended up legit injured.

Piper vs. Goldust. If there's anything besides Shawn vs. Bret and Taker vs. Diesel that was memorable about Wrestlemania 12, it's the Hollywood Backlot Brawl. For a pretty piss poor undercard, Piper vs. Goldust and the OJ chase was the only thing keeping me entertained until it was time for the main events.

I've seen Regal vs. Finlay and I know I liked it after watching it but because it's been such a long time, I really can't remember what happened in that as much as I do Piper vs. Goldust, so that's the only thing holding me back from picking Regal vs. Finlay. Maybe if they booked it on PPV, it might've been more memorable.

Going out on a limb here to say to my opinion is Angle vs Jarret. The whole locker room surrounding these two guys wanting to beat the hell out of one another was intense. The match was intense as it was the final battle between the two. I believe it was 'loser leaves iMPACT!'. The match was intense and was hard hitting. You could see the hate between the two. Was crazy, was awesome and was worth the watch.

This is my opinion on the best Parking Lot Brawl.

by far the best parking lot Brawl is the Piper vs Goldust match at Wrestlemainia 12. it was very well done and if it had not been for the Iron man match at the end of the night then it would have been the best match of the night.
