Which Push Did You Never See Coming?

For me it's got to be a tie between johnny nitro and santino marella, i never expected either of these guys to win single championships already

I'm gonna say John Cena. I remember Cena being just another wrestler in the WWE, fighting mid-card guys, but then I see him fighting for the title and now he's had it forever. Maybe some people don't see it this way, but it definitely caught me by surprise.

BTW, I don't hate Cena, but get the belt off him and give someone else a run.

honestly MVP or Mr. Kennedy......................................................................................................Kennedy

I think the amount of pushes on men with no talent is limitless, as listed on here, spirit squad, 3 second warning, umaga, heindenrich, nathan jones, marella, and etc. I remember seeing Cenas first match, when angle called out the hometown boy and he showed up, I knew then that he had the 'it' to be somebody, just had to find his gimmick, which he did with the rapper thing. Im sick to death of him now, with his 5 moves of doom, and lame firemans carry finisher. Thank god Trips is healing well and will be back to save the day soon. If the injury bug keeps up, the ratings will go down.

I never EVER saw Kennedy as a main eventer, not even close. The first time I saw him, he was on Velocity wrestling as Mr Anderson, but he still did the same intro with the mic and repeating his name. I never even saw this guy making it to Smackdown, let alone a main event. Even though He won that match, I still didn't see it coming.

Didn't know if this was a thread about recent pushes or not but Kevin Nash...."Big Daddy Cool" Diesel was a shock to me. I mean this guy went from being Shawn Micheals bodyguard to holding the title before Shawn... not to mention he didn't even when the title at a televised event i mean watching WWF Superstars one week and Backlund is champ next week we see Diesel....:wtf:

I figured I'd scan through the thread, and I'm glad I did, as these ("WTF?" included) were pretty much my exact thoughts. Bret Hart won his title from Flair in similarly strange fashion, but even as a kid I could sense that Bret was destined for great things.

Well I haven't followed wresting in a few years and have just recently gotten back into it, so for me a lot of these guys are a suprise lol. man things have changed.

Morella def, he's shown not alot to me thus far but hasnt really been given a chance, so im willing to give him time

Carlito and that Jesus guy ... first match, beats Cena and wins title? I hate when they do that

Orlando Jordan, altho they cut him short real quick, probably for the good

Nathan Jones + Matt Morgan ... why just cause the guy is huge do they think he can perform? Where r they now?

That Lock Ness Monster guy in the WCW was the worst. Came in, cleaned house, got owned by The Giant and went missing ... think he came back as Reece in Ravens flock just to get Jackhammered by Goldberg alot ... good fun

Umaga 100%. The talentless lump of lard shouldn't be on tv much less main event anything. He must have a big 13 year old following because its a gymic that makes wrestling a laughable. He was better as S.H.I.T.

Deuce and Domino...They have talent but 50's greasers. how did they get here a time machine.

Nitro suprised me but he has turned out to have major talent.

Vince seems to be pushing the gymics more lately like he did in the 80's.

Loch Ness was actually Giant Haystacks from the UK... Reece was a different guy, Ron Reis I believe...

D-Lo Brown was pretty shocking back in the day, that he came from a no-name member of the Nation to the first "Euro-continental" champ... was such a shame that WWE cut him down when Droz got hurt...

two things terribly wrong here with your post

1.Umaga is not Rosey or S.H.I.T. as you call him, it's his old partner Jamal.

2. WTF is a gymic? I believe you mean gimmick, I thought you were trying to say Vince had a thing for muscular guys who spend a lot of time in the gym.

But to add to this thread I never thought C.M. Punk was going to get his chance to shine in the WWE but I'm really glad things turned out the way they did for him.

My personal choice is Lance Storm when he went to WCW. Every other ECW star that went to WCW ended up being jobbed to death, or given some ******ed gimmick that no one wanted to watch. Remember what they did to Sandman? Hell Raven was a glorified mid-carder when he should have been more.

Lance storm was pushed like Crazy and the suprizing part is his gimmick worked, until they got bought out and WWE butchered his gimmick, turning him into a glorified jobber, and a nobody. He had so much potential, but it seems like they made him tone down his matches (his matches in WCW were 100x better than anything he did in WWE) to make their guys look better, even though they couldn't keep up with him. Hell if I remember right, the fans in WCW were starting to cheer him because he put on a great match, even though he started out as a monster heel that everyone loved to hate.

I would have to say London and Kendrick. The WWE usually uses smaller teams to feed to monster team or as transitional champions (see Rockers, Bushwackers, etc) I would have to say to see this team time and time again retain the titles in title matches and yet lose singles or non-title matches (and pardon my french) shocked the shit out of me. I was so sure that teams like Regal and Taylor or practically nay other team would have taken those titles off of em. But to end up as having the 4th longest tag title reign and probably the longest in the modern era was truly truly suprising.

Dude, if you ever saw Kamikazi Ken Anderson in the old Steel Domain wrestling out of Minnesota, you would have seen the potential that this guy posessed. he was kick ass, but was ignored by the big boys for far too long. Only thing is that Davari was actully better in Steel Domain and is now being barried in the WWE. Such a shame.

For me it was Rey Mysterio. I never thought he would be more than a Cruiserweight Champion. Never in my wildest imagination did i think he was going to become the World Heavyweight Champion. But they gave him a monster push and now he is a top dog on Smackdown.

i totally agree i never thought he would be playing with the big boys for such a little guy but hey i guess it works

What about Snitsky? He hasn't technical done anything yet, but it looks like they are priming him for something big. I mean, he fueds with Kane, does one or two promos as one of Eugene's "freaky friends" and then disappears. Then he comes back, destroys everyone on ECW except the top guys and then moves to Raw. This post could be premature, but it does seem like there are plans for Snitsky...

To be honest, Umaga's push i never real saw coming. I mean obviously if they transformed him into a monster fine, but coming from being Jamal of 3 Minute Warning, a tag team that were good but not great, IMO, to a monster like this.

Yes you are probably saying, what push? Well I think the biggest push he had, IMO, happens to be Battle of the Billionares. As stupid as it was, it wasn't for the popularity or media thing for Trump or Vince, it was for Lashley and Umaga!

And speaking of Lashley, he is another one because coming from a man who beat Simon Dean in his debut? He hardly has any mic skills! This makes WWE hypocrits, giving Lashley and run at the ECW belt and now for Cenas belt! How does this make them hypocrits, well if they say that Shelton Benjamin cann't become a star bc of his poor mic skills, then why give it to Lashley?

CASE CLOSED! Anyone object?
