At this time of year there always comes a lot of Royal Rumble stats/records, but which to you always stands out as the most impressive?

-*Also as a side note, I noticed through putting this together that each "generation" (or "era") seemed to have one Superstar that dominated the Rumbles. It was Hogan for "Hulkamania/Golden Era", HBK for "New Generation Era" and Austin for "Attitude Era", but so far there hasn't been really anyone who can claim that since.

Kane being in 13 rumbles but not "impressive" for a good reason. It astonishes me that Kane has seemingly DOMINATED the rumble for 13 YEARS yet has never won it. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I feel last years rumble should have gone to Kane. He destroys Cena in a pre-rumble match then goes into the Rumble itself breaking his 11 man record in route to winning the rumble. Then you can have Cena come out victorious in their Elimination Chamber PPV without hurting Kane's credibility that much because he still has the WHC title shot at the Rumble (Let's be honest, Kane's monster persona took a BIG hit after the loss to Cena at Elimination Chamber because he had no upside)

Back to the point at hand, Kane being in 13 rumbles and never winning. They make a huge deal out of his 11 eliminations in 2001 but the fact is he DIDN'T win. He was eliminated last by Austin. I've always felt Kane's 11 eliminations was more about getting Austin even MORE over than getting Kane over.

I feel the opposite of Horndog. I feel that 11 eliminations is very impressive, even if he didn't win. It is over 1/3 of the people in the Rumble. They have had some big men in the rumble, One Man Gang, Yoko, Earthquake, Big Show, Great Khaili etc... Any of those men could have thrown out many men but throwing out more than 1 of every three people is impressive.

While writing this I realized another option for the pole, Being in 13 consecutive Rumbles and not winning---KANE. It is kinda sad, but it show his dedication and that he is a work horse and I hope he stays with the company, behind the scenes when he is finished wrestling

I voted for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin winning the Royal Rumble three times. Personally, I think that this is the most important of them all. Firstly, Austin winning three Rumbles provided him with multiple opportunities at WrestleMania. The first was 1997, where he was eliminated by Bret Hart, but the referees didn't see, allowing Austin to win, but face Bret Hart in a classic match at WrestleMania 13, spring-boarding his popularity and respect from the fans. In 1998, he won his first WWE Championship and launched the Attitude Era, which we all know is the most popular time in wrestling history. In 2001, he won one of the best Rumble Matches and went on to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania X-Seven. Even though his heel run wasn't the best, the match itself at WrestleMania was really good and it gave him his longest title run with the WWE Championship.

So really, all three Rumble wins were important. A memorable match at WrestleMania 13 that put Austin in the main event, as a fan favourite and as a respected superstar. WrestleMania XIV launched the Attitude Era and WrestleMania X-Seven capped off an event that many consider to be the best WrestleMania of all time.

Threads choice on HBK's total eliminations is out by 3, he's had 40 eliminations not 37. 37 was prior to the Royal Rumble 2011 in which he eliminated 3 people

Kane didn't beat his record last year, it's still 11 set in 2001, he only got a few eliminations last year, but the record that was closer was HBK's 40 total eliminations going into that rumble. Should be noted he'd already competed in falls count anywhere match with Cena b4 the Rumble match last year.

there's your record holder and my pick Most Rumble Records for a single competitor, HBK is close behind in total records.

Glenn Jacobs
Most Rumbles Entered - 15 (2 as Issac Yankem, 13 as Kane)
Most Eliminations in a Rumble - 11 (2001)
Second highest total eliminations - 37 (only 3 shy of HBK's 40 record) will surpass this year if he's allowed to.
he's also the third longest time spent in combined rumbles - 176mins, so if he goes 50mins this year he'd surpass that record too

Most wins is neither here or there cause it's all pre-determined, the only other stat that is worthy IMO is longest time in a single rumble (Rey Mysterio - 1:02:12) and the longest total time in combined rumbles (Triple H - 221:12mins) since that takes endurance even if they aren't going to be eliminated they still have to look like they are running a muck and surviving near elimination after near elimination.

I chose Kane's most eliminations since a combined wasn't a choice :)

Another vote here for Kane eliminating 11 men in 2001. If there was ever a no nonsense display of domination in professional wrestling. This was it! Stone Cold having to brutalise Kane with a chair before finally throwing him out was quite a picture and told a story in itself.

Ric Flair becoming the first man to win the WWF title via the Royal Rumble, and having to do so against what was arguably the best WWF roster at the time back in 1992.

Im gonna have to go with Triple H having spent the most total time in the Rumble. Its never brought up and I honestly never would have guessed that Triple H has spent close to 4 HOURS in the Royal Rumble match. His average time in the Rumble is over 27 minutes. Its pretty incredible considering he only won it once.

I have to go with the 15 Rumble appearances, that's gotta be the most impressive record, and for a multitude of reasons.

1.) The majority of superstars don't even make it anywhere near 15 years in the company, let alone being in 15 Rumbles. That's longevity at it's finest and just goes to prove the point that I try to make all the time, Kane is the most consistent superstar that the WWE has ever had, period.

2.) It's the only one, besides Kane's other record of 13 straight Rumbles (which is also VERY impressive, I'd have that 2nd) that can't be based on any type of storyline, it was all done by Kane himself. It's the only, I guess actual record there is with the rest being 'made-up'.

If this were a real sport the # of wins would be the most important stat so I'm going with that even though it pains me to do so. If it were real 3 wins would be quite impressive for such an "unpredictable" match. Of course in reality this was the most predictable time period for the Rumble because Austin was obviously going to main event Wrestlemania so if the Rock had the belt it was likely Austin would win the Rumble or vice versa. The only truly surprising Austin victory was his first one which he didn't even really win. Ref not seeing his elimination? WTF?

First of all, that 'Rumble graphic is really sweet!

Second, I voted for Stone Cold's 3 wins. When it comes right down to it, it is all about victories. Okay so someone was in the rumble more than the rest, it also means he lost more times. Okay so someone has the most eliminations, which means nothing because you can eliminate 28 of the 30, but if you're elimination #29, you still lose. I hate to say that, because HBK's 38 eliminations is impressive, but wins are what counts. If you can't seal the deal, the rest of the stats are pointless.

I can't believe nobody said Ric Flair winning the WWF title from the #3 position. At the time, it was the longest appearance ever in the Rumble. On top of that, Flair wasn't just inactive most of the time he was in the ring for it. He was taking bumps and really proving his worth as a champion. For the first time in a long time, he made the WWF championship mean something because it wasn't a cartoon character champion like Hogan, Warrior or Undertaker, it was a real world champ going the distance to become champ and giving credibility to a title that needed it badly.

For me, I would say Kane's 15 years of being in the rumble. the first two as Yankem and the fake Diesel, then the 13 as Kane...Another one that stands out for me, is the fact that Vince McMahon "won" the rumble, looking at the list of who actually "won" it, his name stands out like a sore thumb.

I always thought winning from Number 1 or Number 2 is the most impressive. That's why I voted for HBK/Benoit.

It means you're the workhorse of the company. Vince puts guys in first who he knows can work a great match and tell a good story. Guys who spend a lot of time in the Rumble end up making the Rumble match itself as entertaining as it is. So being there the entire time and winning, in my opinion, is the most impressive.

I'm having a hard time deciding what the most impressive feat in Royal Rumble history is, but HBK winning at #1 doesn't do it for me. The year he won from that spot was the only year the Rumble had a new entrant every 60 seconds. I hope they never do that again, because it was probably the worst Rumble of them all. Shawn was still in there over a half-hour, but blah--Greg Valentine and Rick Martel had more impressive Rumble showings in prior years than that.

I'm leaning towards Austin's three wins, but Kane deserves to win SOMETHING for his Rumble accomplishments since WWE won't let him win an actual Rumble. Maybe KANE!'s most eliminations in one Rumble takes the cake--that was really exciting to watch. Yeah, I'm going with that.

Not a record AS SUCH but I think that in terms of biggest differential in prestige to eliminate somebody (so talking about a jobber knocking out a big guy, I think you all know where I'm going with this), Maven knocking off The Undertaker has got to be up their maybe as the record for 'Most Shocking Moment' or something

I am torn with this one, but I voted for Austin's 3 wins. Like another poster said each win set up an important moment at Wrestlemania. The legendary match vs Bret Hart at Mania 13, the match that started the Austin Era vs HBK, and the main event of what a lot of us call the greatest Wrestlemania ever against the Rock also starting the Austin heel turn. Those were all pretty important moments that came about from Austin's wins. Coming in at a very close second for me is Flair's performance in Royal Rumble 92. I have stated before that this is my favorite Rumble, and Flair really went the distance starting and winning from number 3. He was active a lot of that time as well, and won the WWE title in impressive fashion. Great thread by the way.

Ric Flair becoming the first man to win the WWF title via the Royal Rumble, and having to do so against what was arguably the best WWF roster at the time back in 1992.

Flair winning the Rumble and the WWF Championship definitely stands out for me as the biggest. It's the only time that the WWF title was on the line in the Rumble and it was Flair's WWF title after all his time in WCW.

I went with Stone Cold's three wins. It's unprecedented, and the only guys that are in range to match it are retired. It's also a credit to just how big Steve Austin was. Nobody groaned or lamented that it was more of the same when he won his second and third Rumbles. What's more, they were memorable victories, each booked differently and cleverly, and each setting up feuds/angles/matches that themselves were memorable. A lot of these are great records, and there's a good argument for them. For me, though, Austin's three victories stands out as the greatest.

Rey and Vince getting zero votes with Benoit and HBK getting 13 makes no sense to me. Starting number one and number two in the Rumble is the exact same thing.

I voted for Austin winning three times. Most stars don't even whiff a final four in their career. Austin won three Rumbles and went to three Manias because of it. That is your big payoff, so hell yeah that's the most impressive.

Obviously 3 wins is quite an achievement.

But I gotta say I'm really impressed by all of Kane's achievements. Eliminating more than one third of EVERYBODY in one match is damn impressive. The quickest elimination was his deed, too. And 13 consecutive Rumble appearances speaks for his longevity. And let's not forget that Kane may yet break HBK's record of overall eliminations as well.

Kane's da Rumble man, even though he never won it and never will.

Flair going in at No. 3 and wrestling an hour to win against the most stacked roster ever in a Rumble is more impressive than HBK winning from the No. 1 slot but wrestling almost 20 minutes less. Anyone who can last an hour in this event and be heavily involved in the action through out is pretty impressive.

The 92 Roster for the event was unreal.... There were 7 World Champions in the event NOT including Flair (Hogan, Savage, Taker, HBK, St Slaughter, Kerry Von Erich in one of his last wrestling appearances before his death, and Sid) plus some of the biggest and most popular legends of all time in Piper, Ted DiBiase, and Jake Roberts.

That kind of performance among that kind of star power has to be among the best ever.

Besides that, Austin winning it three times is impressive but Kane making it 13 consecutive years is impressive too. How many guys even make it 5 or 6 times, you have to be healthy, name worthy, and active on the roster 13 straight years ?? I imagine if HBK hadnt injured his back, Flair hadnt left for WCW, or maybe Hart had stayed and not gotten injured one if not all of them would have a similair streak. Fact is they dont, so Kane deserves some love here.

Kerry Von Erich was never World Champion in the WWF. The WWF Champion you missed is Iron Sheik, wrestling as Colonel Mustafa. But, I agree that Flair's effort that night was extremely impressive!

I will vote for Kane's longevity. Austin won three times because Vince decided he should win three times. Of course, his awesome character and performance throughout his tenure resulted in being chosen three times; but, it's not like he actually won a battle that wasn't predetermined. Kane's numbers show that he has been relevant for a very long time--even though he was not always a main eventer. Kane's 11 eliminations in one year is no big deal to me...Vince had him eliminate that many. I don't get a kick out of "records" that come from script writing. But, the way he has been able to stay in this business, and in the biggest company there is, for so long gets my cumulative vote.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Kane.

Stone Cold Steve Austin - Austin to this date is still the man with the most wins in the Rumble (3), he is the third man to accomplish the back-to-back Rumble wins. While Austin might not have won from #1 his lowest number was 5, which is still respectable. But as far as Royal Rumble wins, he is the guy at the top of the mountain.

Shawn Michaels - Shawn might only have 2 wins in the Rumble, but despite that, one of those wins came from the very first spot in the Rumble, he is only one of two men to accomplish that feat. On top of that, he was the second man to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles. While on top of this, holding the record for eliminations in the match.

Kane - No Rumble win, list would not be complete without this guy, tossing people left and right out of the ring and a record for most eliminations that rivals that of Shawn's. He might not have won a Rumble match, but at the very least he deserves to surpass the elimination record for his efforts.

It's too tough a choice for me honestly.

Hogan would be there as well, being the very first man to win back-to-back Rumbles. Chris Benoit has a mention for being the 2nd man to win the Rumble from #1.
