Where would Chris Beniot be today?

TerryMagowan

Dark Match Winner
And I dont mean if he won the ECW title.
I mean if where would he fit into todays wrestling product.
Raw, Smackdown, TNA? Maybe even retired?

After thinking about this I couldn't imagine him in todays WWE Product, I simply don't know where he would fit.

I'd imagine him in TNA putting on fantastic matches week after week with the likes of Kurt Angle and Sting.

I just wanted to know what everyone here thought.

Opinions Please?

Thank you. :)

I wouldn't call them "fantastic matches" They would entice the fans who only want to see the Cirque de Soleil show...but his personality was one of the worst in the history of the business.

Hopefully, had he not been a mass murderer...he would have retired long ago instead. Either way, I would have never liked to see him again and I'm actually glad I don't and that all his images and videos are removed so I never have to.

And he would probably fit in well in today's WWE market...they have Daniel Bryan or whoever who is just as boring without a personality being a big fan favorite over there.

Wrestling certainly isn't as entertaining as it used to be. They basically removed all of the fun stuff from it...and added boredom. Took away the cool names, cool gimmicks, cool wrestling attire, cool theme songs, and personality and added boring names, boring gimmicks, boring wrestling attire, washing machine sounding rock music that all sounds the same for theme music, and no personality.

How that's better than it was before is beyond me. My head continues to spin in circles.

I see him in the main events in TNA. There was clearly nothing left for Benoit in WWE which is why they must've stuffed him on ECW to win the ECW Title and carry the brand when the brand was only there to make new stars.

I actually liked him as a wrestler. He had no personality, but I did not really care because I was still young and did not really pay much attention to that. By the standards of boring I used to think Edge was boring and now that I grown up I find him entertaining. Anyways, I think he would be retired. He could have put over CM Punk bigger than John Morrison. I do not think his time in ECW would have lasted. It was just a way to give them some ratings, but he would have probably retired on Smackdown or Raw after a great Wrestlemania bout. His personality was not great, but for some reason I think he had the "it" factor. Maybe it was because he looked bigger than he was because of the 'roids. Bottomline is he would be retired.

I think he would be retired or on Raw putting over heels like Sheamus, Miz and others as he was good at that but the man never could cut any promo in the time I saw him as a wrestler but anyway he would be putting over young talented in the WWE and the getting inducted in the hall of fame.

One of two places. He'd either be retired or he'd be hanging around the mid-card for the money.

Sadly, before he went psychotic, he was a novelty act in the Heavyweight title picture. WWE's way of giving back to him and the IWC for loving his work so much. However, I doubt he was going to ever get another title run unless it was near the very end of his career. And even then, it may have only been for storyline purposes and he may have come up short.

So, he'd probably hung around the mid-card, helping younger talent get over.

Or, he'd have retired in a few years... and then gone crazy.

I recall him stating a little bit before the tragedy that he'd be a WWE guy for life, so no TNA.

I think he'd have been in the upper midcard, maybe getting another World Title reign as a transitional champ before dropping it to someone like Swagger or Sheamus.

A feud between him and a heel Jericho would have been gold.

I am struggling to decide where Benoit would be in the WWE if he was still with us, really struggling.

Now Benoit was not a young man when he died, he was in his 40s so was coming towards the end of his career. WWE obviously had no long term plans for him so had sent him to the ECW brand, which was never a good thing! He was continuing to put on good matches, as usual, but WWE was looking at the future, and it was becoming clear that Benoit was not going to be around much longer.

I do not think Benoit would have retired around the time of his death, he loved the business and would have tried to have kept going as long as he could. But here is where I am having the difficulty. Benoit had stated in the months leading up to his death that he would always be a WWE guy, but with his mounting injuries, advanced age, and fading career opportunities, would he have been willing to put up with the endless travelling that being on a WWE roster requires?

If he had decided to remain in the WWE, I could see him having had a smaller role, maybe more of a mentor to a new technical wrestler, with Benoit acting as the manager of and occasional tag team partner to the young up-and-coming star (perhaps this is what Daniel Bryan would be doing now if Benoit was alive????).

I think that eventually Benoit would have become a trainer in one of the developmental territories, like Finlay, or a road agent. This is if he had wanted to stay with the WWE.

If he had left, maybe he would have appeared in TNA, as they would definately been interested, but I just cant imagine The Wolverine on Impact. However, with the money they would have thrown at him it would be quite likely I guess. Angle V Benoit again would be great to see.

However, at this point in time, several years after his murder/suicide and several years older, I would imagine Chris Benoit would be on the verge of retirement, after years of gruelling matches, concussions and several severe injuries.

He would certainly be worthy of a spot in the WWE Hall Of Fame had he not commited his terrible actions, and it is sad that a man who gave so much to the business and would have been remembered as a great can now forever be remembered as a murderer, and has almost been written out of wrestling history.

I'm guessing he would have been retired right now due to an injury. Lets face it, he was already messed up pretty bad physically. If he retired at the right time, they could still have him be a backstage agent, or trainer. I think that's what he'd be doing. Either an agent, or down in FCW helping train the up and coming talent. Also, Benoit would probably be getting an invitation this year to the HOF. With the whole WCW theme going on.

He would have went to TNA and been a top tier talent there in my view. He pretty much did every single thing in WWE and I don't see how he would have changed his character at all to become different. TNA was the way to go, would have had some really good matches with Angle

The reason Chris Benoit died is because he carried on being a wrestler too long. Granted, he didn't have to kill his family, but had he not done so, he would have probably died anyway in the meantime, given the state his body in. For Benoit to be alive today, he would have had to quit a long time before.
