Where Not To Go On Holiday

Don't take the title literally. No listings of places in Bulgaria please.

If you go to Bridgend in Wales, and have a My Space you're fucked. FACT. It's proven. 17 (or so) people have killed themselves in this village in the past year. Which is different to Stoke where people don't kill themselves, other people do it for them. Apparently it's some sort of suicide cult. I thought Bridgend was where my fathers parents lived. I was wrong, that's Bridgnorth. True story, I've not seen them in years. They didn't even go my pops funeral. Bastards.

Anyway in my opinion if people are killing themselves because they think it's cool then who cares. They shouldn't be so stupid. And if it's because they're depressed then it's waht they want. Just make sure X-Pac doesn't visit Wales.

It's true, they must think it is cool, hear about the last ones, that where cousins? they obviously decided to do it together.
Although it does remind me of the book I just read, which turned out to be a murderer doing all the 'fake suicides'...

Yeah pretty sure that's just some impressionable teens. I doubt the bad guy from I Know What You Did Last Summer has anything to do with it.

I feel sorry for the people who've killed themselves because they were sick of life. A few were bound to be like that, now they're bunched up in a group with loads of crazy emo kids.

Yeah, it's a shame though, a waste of life, which probably could have been saved if they has someone to talk to, but have you heard they have put like counsellors in like every room of every school and college...

Why would you talk to a counsellors? If you can't talk to family or friends why would you suddenly start talking to Dr. Bob? They're a waste of time. I'm depressed and I find the best way to cope is to tell nobody and cope on your own. If it works for me then it can work for the Welsh.

It all depends on the person I suppose, something if you can't tell a family or friend its far easier to talk to a stranger, for the simple fact you don't want people to know your feeling that way, and sometimes its nice to have someone who you don't know.
I suffer from bi-polar and have seen my fair share of counsellors, or now as some like to be referred to which is so Americanised but as 'mentors' the majority of them don't help, but you sometimes find the ones you can really connect with and it does help, I also suppose that that place in Wales has to look as if they are doing something to stop it, which they really can't do.

It's a phase. Most of them are doing it because they think it's cool. And they feels it's the only legacy they'll leave. They should just let them get on with it. Eventually it'll stop. If it wan't documented in the papers then the death rate would be lower. A lot of them surley must be doing it just so they can gain a bit of notoriety.

That's the sad thing though, what has made them so desperate for attention that they would actually kill themselves? Fair enough you get your name in the paper, but you are not exactly there to see it.

Yeah but people don't think like that. The thing with death is that eventually you get over it. Even the parents of those children will. It'll always be at the back of their mind, but they will get over it. You don't spend the rest of your life mourning. Both my parents are dead and I'm totally over it. I think about them but I'll never cry over them again. i'm sure it's different over a child, but you still move on.

Well obviously I wouldn't know about children, but yes I am sure you would eventually get over it, but I doubt you'll ever fully get over it, Well I doubt I ever would, again its different for every person, but back to the subject, I don't understand suicide, to a small extend I understand in extreme context, but I don't understand young people who do it, I mean they might be having a shit time right now, but they never know what will happen. I could never commit suicide now, for the simple fact I am far too curious about what will happen in my life.
The other thing that really annoys me is when people commit suicide over debt, people take money far too seriously.

Well going bankrupt is no big deal. 12 months later you can get a mortgage again. So I don't understand the debt aspect. I think that has more to do with pride than anything.

But I totally understand suicide in general. If you're permanently depressed then you don't see your life ever getting better.

I suppose I never see it like that, I have my up days where I am happy, so I am never permanently down.

The other type of suicide that also annoys me, is the one where people actually blame others in like a suicide note. My mum works for social services, and she recently had to deal with a young mother, who was incredibly depressed, because the father of her child killed himself when they split up, and he wrote in his suicide note that it was her fault for stopping loving him, and that she really killed him.

I don't see much point in suicide notes. If you do it so a loved one knows why you're doing it then they'll ask themselves what they could have done to stop it. And people who aren't depressed or have never been depressed just aren't going to understand. Somethimes it's better if people don't know the reason.

the whole bridgend thing has actually knocked north belfast off the top of the highest suidicide rate in UK.

gotta agree with danielle though. like im 22 and i feel i'v plenty to keep on going for. my life may not be perfect but i feel theres more than the present. extremes maybe i'd start to understand...but you can get try to get on with your life.

as far as dealing with it, different things work for different people. personally, i used to bottle it up a lot as i didnt really have any1 i felt i could trust to talk to. i dont think it worked for me but i have someone i can talk to now and it helps.
