I have my DVD collection split into 4 seperate sections:
1. Wrestling DVD's.
2. TV Shows
3. Movies
4. The crap my wife watches.
With regard to my wrestling collection, here's a sampling of them.
Breaking The Code: Breaking The Walls of Chris Jericho
CM Punk: Best in The World
Ladder Match 1 &2
Night of Champions 2009 and 2012
Royal Rumble 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013
Allied Powers: The Worlds Greatest Tag Teams
TLC 2012
Wrestlemania 21-28
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
Edge: You Think You Know Me
Being the history buff that I am, Heenan, Punk, Edge and Jericho's DVD's top my list. It's a treat to learn the backstories of wrestlers as people and see them out of character.
My TV DVD collection:
Justified Seasons 1-3
Psych Seasons 1-6
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Seasons 1-7
Burn Notice Seasons 1-5
Scrubs Season 1-8
Justified has surpassed Psych as my favorite TV show, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. I've been meaning to set up a Justified thread for some time.
I'll narrow my DVD collection down, because it's huge.
Favorite Thrillers:
Memento
The Usual Suspects
The Game
Taxi Driver
Seven
Minority Report
L.A. Confidential
A Clockwork Orange
The Prestige
Heat
Memento, The Game and The Usual Suspects top my list, as they brought ominous themes and excellent mysteries that had me guessing until the end. Movies like The Shining and Clockwork Orange are both utterly disturbing yet engrossing at the same time.
Favorite Dramas:
Up In The Air
Shawshank Redemption
Schindlers List
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
The Green Mile
Twelve Angry Men
American Beauty
American History X
The Departed
Out of Sight
Some of these I had a hard time deciding between action and drama, but I felt movies like The Departed and Pulp Fiction, though filled with action, explored the character's depths, motives, and slowed the pace down enough to classify as dramas, telling a story from start to finish. Up In The Air and Out of Sight show why George Clooney is one of my favorite actors, and American Beauty is Kevin Spacey's best work.
Top Action Movies:
Die Hard 1-4
Batman Trilogy
The Avengers
Iron Man
300
Lethal Weapon Series
Drive
Boondock Saints
Looper
Favorite Comedies
Office Space
The Big Lebowski
Airplane
Breakfast Club
Happy Gilmore
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Pineapple Express
There's Something About Mary
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Office Space is a movie I can watch over and again and not get tired of, similar to Sarah Marshall, which really shows Jason Segal's brilliance. Sometimes I feel like I'm on speed watching Fear and Loathing, but Johnny Depp is absolutely hilarious. Happy Gilmore and Something About Mary are the only Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller movies Ive ever really liked.
Top Horror Movies:
Saw 1-7
Interview With The Vampire
Carrie
Silence of The Lambs
The Shining
Halloween
Misery
The Others
Fraility
Scream
Some are old classics, others are just stand-alone movies that I love. Fraility is a brilliant performance by Matthew McConoughey that's downright scary, and The Others is Nicole Kidman at her best. The original Scream was a really good horror movie, and Silence of The Lambs, Carrie, and The Shining are old favorites of mine.
I probably have about 200 DVDs in all, these are just my favorites. Ive been watching alot of wrestling again these days, and psychological thrillers have always been my favorite genre of movie. There's a few movies on my favorites that are considered terrible, and understandably, but they're fun popcorn flicks. When Blockbuster near my house closed down, I cleaned up, cheap, and Family Video near my house sells all their movies cheaply as well. I think I have a fairly diverse and comprehensive collection, although Im always looking to add to it.
