What's in your DVD collection?

JamJam

It's goin' down forreal!
Pretty self-explanatory here. List movies that are in your DVD collection and talk about them a little bit. This way, we can bring up some old movies that were pretty good and can have some discussion about it. Also talk about what genre's you have as it can add to the discussion.

My collection has a lot of action films in it as well as comedy films. Die Hard and the Hangover series are in them as well as the Fast and Furious franchise. I have a lot of franchises now that I notice it which includes: Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR, Harry Potter, Rush Hour. The ones that I've recently watched are Step Brothers and Doom which I liked a lot.

Your turn.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but for a while I tried to keep some semblance of order with my collection;

I have 2 big units that are just over 6 foot, with about 3 and a half feet of shelf space on each. On the top shelf I keep TV shows like South Park, the wire, the shield etc, but I've got the complete box sets of shows like sopranos, peep show, Boston legal and oz which are now perched atop the big unit.

I've got sections for animated films, comedies, action and world cinema, but also a De Niro/Scorsese/Pacino section too.

Since buying Blu rays, the sections ar e getting a little lax but at least all the Blu rays are together I suppose.

Everything I want....almost. I'm waiting on a proper Halloween box set anthology, because I refuse to buy the current/old incomplete piece of shit. I also want to buy the Wrestlemania anthology, but I guess I waited too long, because they're hard to find online now a days. And I guess I can say the same thing about Star Wars. I have Attack Of The Clones and Phantom Menace on DVD, but the prices online for the ones I don't have (Revenge Of The Sith & the originals) are beyond ridiculous. I also wanted to buy the complete Sopranos box set. Saw it at Best Buy one day, but it was too pricy for my taste at the time, and as the years went by, I just forgot about it.

But yeah, I already have each LOTR film box set (the extended versions), both seasons of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and select seasons of South Park (seasons 5, 8,11, 12, and 1). I have a shitload of various movies, and only one Blu-Ray (Halloween II- the original). It's probably the only Blu-Ray disc I'll ever have, because I refuse to trade-in and sell-off my DVDs, and replenish my collection with Blu-Rays. Nope. Not gonna happen. And I'm not keeping DVDs and Blu-Rays, because it wouldn't make sense to have TWO sets of identical films.

Still trying to organize the mess of crap in my room (new stuff and DVDs I've owned for years), and I am my own worst enemy, when it comes to the never ending mission to straighten everything up. As for now, I'm just focusing on horror movies.

Damn MovieStop and their irresistible sales, prices, and grandiose selection! I'm counting down the days to their annual October/Halloween sale, and it's hard to pass up some of the buy 2 get 1 free deals, especially the cheap used DVDs.

I've got a reasonably small collection of DVDs which are

A hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy
Spider-Man 3
The Amazing Spider-Man
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
The Avengers
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
You think you know me: The Story of Edge
Jeff Hardy: My life, My Rules
Money in the Bank 2011

Here's my collection of DVD's so far, disregarding any of the WWE ones.... I used to have over twice as many more but I sold back several of my movies and cd's a few years ago when I was very short on money.

I like a large variety of genres. From action to horror to Sci-Fi. I'mnot done yet though. I'd still like to watch Prometheus and see if it's worth owning. This is also not including all of the movies I have on my external hard drive.

I used to have a huge collection of films, but now I've refined to a smaller collection full of mainly what I think are classics with some fun action and comedies thrown in.

Like I said, there used to be a lot more films in the collection but I have either got rid of them or left at my parents house when I moved to university. I have a few wrestling DVD's such as the ladder matches, elimination chamber and Shawn Michaels ones. I have some TV series such as Heroes and Lost too. I have tons more films on my portable hard drive.

I have my DVD collection split into 4 seperate sections:

1. Wrestling DVD's.
2. TV Shows
3. Movies
4. The crap my wife watches. ;)

With regard to my wrestling collection, here's a sampling of them.

Breaking The Code: Breaking The Walls of Chris Jericho
CM Punk: Best in The World
Ladder Match 1 &2
Night of Champions 2009 and 2012
Royal Rumble 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013
Allied Powers: The Worlds Greatest Tag Teams
TLC 2012
Wrestlemania 21-28
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
Edge: You Think You Know Me

Being the history buff that I am, Heenan, Punk, Edge and Jericho's DVD's top my list. It's a treat to learn the backstories of wrestlers as people and see them out of character.

My TV DVD collection:

Justified Seasons 1-3
Psych Seasons 1-6
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Seasons 1-7
Burn Notice Seasons 1-5
Scrubs Season 1-8

Justified has surpassed Psych as my favorite TV show, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. I've been meaning to set up a Justified thread for some time.

I'll narrow my DVD collection down, because it's huge.

Favorite Thrillers:

Memento
The Usual Suspects
The Game
Taxi Driver
Seven
Minority Report
L.A. Confidential
A Clockwork Orange
The Prestige
Heat

Memento, The Game and The Usual Suspects top my list, as they brought ominous themes and excellent mysteries that had me guessing until the end. Movies like The Shining and Clockwork Orange are both utterly disturbing yet engrossing at the same time.

Favorite Dramas:

Up In The Air
Shawshank Redemption
Schindlers List
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
The Green Mile
Twelve Angry Men
American Beauty
American History X
The Departed
Out of Sight

Some of these I had a hard time deciding between action and drama, but I felt movies like The Departed and Pulp Fiction, though filled with action, explored the character's depths, motives, and slowed the pace down enough to classify as dramas, telling a story from start to finish. Up In The Air and Out of Sight show why George Clooney is one of my favorite actors, and American Beauty is Kevin Spacey's best work.

Top Action Movies:

Die Hard 1-4
Batman Trilogy
The Avengers
Iron Man
300
Lethal Weapon Series
Drive
Boondock Saints
Looper

Favorite Comedies

Office Space
The Big Lebowski
Airplane
Breakfast Club
Happy Gilmore
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Pineapple Express
There's Something About Mary
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Office Space is a movie I can watch over and again and not get tired of, similar to Sarah Marshall, which really shows Jason Segal's brilliance. Sometimes I feel like I'm on speed watching Fear and Loathing, but Johnny Depp is absolutely hilarious. Happy Gilmore and Something About Mary are the only Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller movies Ive ever really liked.

Top Horror Movies:
Saw 1-7
Interview With The Vampire
Carrie
Silence of The Lambs
The Shining
Halloween
Misery
The Others
Fraility
Scream

Some are old classics, others are just stand-alone movies that I love. Fraility is a brilliant performance by Matthew McConoughey that's downright scary, and The Others is Nicole Kidman at her best. The original Scream was a really good horror movie, and Silence of The Lambs, Carrie, and The Shining are old favorites of mine.

I probably have about 200 DVDs in all, these are just my favorites. Ive been watching alot of wrestling again these days, and psychological thrillers have always been my favorite genre of movie. There's a few movies on my favorites that are considered terrible, and understandably, but they're fun popcorn flicks. When Blockbuster near my house closed down, I cleaned up, cheap, and Family Video near my house sells all their movies cheaply as well. I think I have a fairly diverse and comprehensive collection, although Im always looking to add to it.

Welp my DVD collection isn't as big as it used to be. I am seeing a definite lack of classics though.

Westerns-

Magnificent Seven
Once Upon A Time In The Old West-the best Western EVER

Sci-Fi

Star Wars
Star Trek(Reboot)

Dark Night Trilogy
Avengers

Just added the Jurassic Park Trilogy. Gotta love them dinosaurs!

Scarface! The second DVD has a feature that you can turn on where it counts the F-bombs and deaths, and sometimes we use it as a drinking game. Good times, lol

Speaking of drinking games: I also have Dazed and Confused. Try taking a swig every time someone says "man". Sweeeeeeet

I enjoy rave movies; Human Traffic, A Midsummer Night's Rave, Stark Raving Mad and Disco Donnie are a few DVDs I own that I watch when I need a pick me up.

Speaking of Donnie, Donnie Darko, another of my all-time favorites.

I have quite an extensive collection of all dvds. I refuse to switch to Blu Ray to just based on the sheer size of my collection. DVDs are the only thing I collect so my WWE dvd list is pretty extensive. I am 26 shy of having every ppv that was ever out on dvd. I have all of the superstar and best of sets minus Raw homecoming and the Trish stratus collectors edition. Needless to say my wife hates me for this. As far as tv shows go I have all seasons of south park, family guy, tales from the crypt, the sopranos, and lost. I have six seasons of the original Beverly Hills 90210 that is more for my wife, but I like the show too. My wife has a small section in my case with all seasons of The Gilmore Girls, The Golden Girls, and Army wives among other things. Movie wise I have a lot. All things Tarentino, and all things David Fincher. I also have the new Batman Trilogy. Both Stars Wars Trilogies, and a huge Disney Pixar collection. The Godfather Box set along with Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, and Scarface. I probably have a couple hundred randoms that I picked up when I saw a movie I liked. I actually want to be buried with my dvds when I die lol.

I only have 10-15 myself ranging from Donnie Darko to The Thing (all on blu ray)

but all together we (cousin and friend) have near 150, 60+ of them being wrestling dvd's though.

One I proud myself on is my Space Jame Blu-Ray
