What WWE needs to recreate theire womens' division

I wouldn't necessarily say a complete change. What has changed is that many of the WWE Divas can now actually wrestle. Alicia Fox is pretty good inside the ring as is Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Tamina, Natalya & Michelle McCool. Jillian is someone that's really impressed me with how much she's improved. The match that she had on Superstars a month or two back with Gail Kim is probably the best women's match I've seen the entire year from either WWE or TNA. It wasn't a barn burner but compared to what we usually see out of the Divas on Raw or Smackdown, it was pretty close to epic. Eve Torres has also improved noticably as has Layla.

However, the Divas are primarily used as shit filler on both Raw & Smackdown. Usually, the only opportunity you'll have to see a good women's match in the WWE is, sometimes, during a ppv or on Superstars. It's a shame because most of the WWE Divas are actually pretty decent inside the ring.

At the same time, I think we also have to be realistic. I know that we love the idea of any company having a lot of depth and focus in every division, but it's just not going to happen with the Divas. As has been said numerous times in other threads like this, women's wrestling has never been a signifigant draw in the United States. That isn't something that people say only because Vince McMahon said or believes it, it's historical fact. All you have to do is look back through wrestling's past here in the states and it's clear that women's wrestling never has been and probably never will be a relevant force in the states. There have been various times in which the WWE has attempted to have a serious women's division but it's just never really caught on. They've had women wrestlers that've put on good matches, but the reaction has always been rather lukewarm. Even TNA has given up the idea of serious women's wrestling, and the Knockout Division used to be one of the best things about TNA.

For all intents and purposes, most internet fans would love to see the Divas become relevant in the WWE but I don't believe it's gonna happen because most other fans just don't care enough about women's wrestling for the WWE to make the effort. Aside from that, wrestling history is working against it.

Well then why have Divas wrestling at all? If they don't draw then cast them aside. Nothings going to be a draw if you don't give it a chance, and right now with the Divas as they are, they're certainly not being given a chance.

And for the record, Jillian is far better than someone that's "improved". She's a hugely decorated women's wrestler that has been buried in the WWE from day 1.

they really neeed to give some of the better divas more in ring time to help build them up and establish them more..when lita and trish would wrestle there matches were always pretty lengthly i believe they even main evented on raw once for the womens title and had a very long match..i can see beth phoenix..melina and some of the other more established divas putting on a good long match

WWE needs to want a women's wrestling division. They seem perfectly happy having swimsuit models throwing each other in the mud. I take their women's division as seriously as they present it. If they did want a women's division they would go raid Shimmer for the awesome talent.

Very true. The problem isn't the women on the roster, it's how they're being used. Back when there was Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Victoria, Jazz and others; the women had a good portion of television time to develop characters and storylines and play an overall important factor in the weekly show. The matches, especially those for the Women's Championship, would run about 10 to 15 minutes. Now, the women get probably three minutes of match time. It's not enough to really get them over.

so i heard something about them doing a casting call for models or actresses to become divas an idea i got from that is that they should have a show somewhat like NXT/Tough Enough but for divas like a reality type show having them in a house together and having them go and train at a wrestling gym somewhat how they did on tough enough and bring back trish stratus, ivory, finlay as trainers for them..i think this will give them some more exposure and take time to develop both wrestling and personality

WWE wants more models (bad) but the ones that they should replace imo r:

Bellas-not good at all
Tiffany-ok not good nuff imo
Alicia-i see nothing there
Rosa-y does she still have a job there

I dont get y WWE cant actually think about hiring real wrestlers unless the models can ACTUALLY wrestle this time

Love this thread! One of the huge reasons I watch the WWE after all these years is, or was for the Womens division. It sadly has got a little lackluster since they fired Mickie, and Beth and Melina are side-lined. I think what the WWE needs to do to re-kindle this division is: FIRST, rehire Mickie James, that to me was one of the most tragic firing's the WWE made, she can WRESTLE! Not to mention Mickie James had to really lead the womens division for a couple years after Trish and Lita left. I also think that the WWE needs to showcase the women that CAN wrestle more: Jillian, Tamina, Natalya, Serena, and even Gail Kim. These women are put on the backburner while the Bellas are "wrestling" Alicia Fox on Raw, time to keep the ones that arent good wrestlers OUT of the ring, until they get more training and can perform more than one or two solid moves in a match. Lastly I think they should allow both Womens and Divas titles to float between the brands. Switch things up, one title doesnt always have to be on one show, and allow the divas to intermingle between brands too, it would GREATLY open up some story line opps! I am still hoping when Melina and Beth return things will get better, and I am still routing/wishing for the day Mickie James is rehired with the WWE, things would then be awesome :)

Okay first off I think that the WWE should re-hire one of the greatest womans champions if not the greatest of all time Mickie James. That would help the divison a lot. I mean the divison is getting better, but it still isn't as great as it could be or as great as it was during the attitude era.

Its okay if the WWE wants to hire girls that are pretty I get that, but hire pretty girls that can wrestle there has to be some out there somewhere. Also I have heard about this girl AJ Lee if she is as good as everyone says bring her up to the main roster that could help to.

Also get some good storylines going like ones from the attitude era I don't mean copy the ones from the attitude era just make them as interesting. Also the storylines don't always have to centered around the title.

Use your divas that can actually wrestler like Gail Kim, Serena {heard shes good}, Natayla {I mean come on shes great shes a part of the Hart Family}, Tamina and Jillian Hall.

I think you should keep both of the titles the divas title could be for the ones that are good but not the best, and the womans title could be for the divas that can wrestle really well like Mickie, Lita and Trish.

Okay now on to the current roster:

Raw divas

Bellas: Ummmmm horrible the only thing they do is switch out when the refs not looking and stay with the guest hosts besides that useless let them go.

Alicia Fox: Horrible wrestler and champion, don't know why the wwe likes her for let her go.

Eve: Can actually wrestle and is a good champion her mic skills aren't the best but she'll improve I think she's worth keeping unlike most divas she tries hard and is actually trying to improve in the ring and on the mic. Keep her!

Gail Kim: From what I've seen of her on superstars she seems to really know how to wrestle unlike most of the divas today would make a good divas champion and actually bring prestige to the title. Keep her!

Jillian Hall: Can actually wrestle, good on the mic and actually has personality. WWE should put her in the hunt for the divas title and give it to her for more than four minutes. Keep her!

Maryse: Awesome mic skills in my opinion and average in-ring skill. I think she is fine where she is at with Ted, but she could wrestle from time to time. Keep her!

Melina: Good on the mic and in the ring a former 3 time womans champion and 1 time divas champion. I hear she will be on Raw next week, she could really help the divas divison. Keep her!

Natalya: The daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Is way above average on the mic like Maryse and is awesome in the ring. Let her be a contender for the divas title she can bring prestige to it to or better yet the womans title she deserves it. Keep her!

Tamina: Just like Natayla she comes from a wrestling family she is the daughter of "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka. She just like Natyla is good in the ring and on the mic. I really hope they don't plan on keeping her the manager of The Usos. I mean it would be okay if she could wrestle to and possible wrestle for a title. Keep her!

Okay on to the SD divas

Smackdown Divas

Beth Phoniex: Good in the ring and on the mic. Was the womans champion before she got injured and if the WWE is smart she will be womans champion again. She is like the Chyna of her generation. Keep her!

Layla: Mic skills are decent and she is good in the ring, but I think she needs to improve some more before the seperated her from Michelle. Anyways haven't decided to keep her or let her go yet.

Michelle McCool: Her voice on the mic is awful but the sound of her voice doesn't take aways that she is good on the mic and in the ring. Current co-womans champion. Keep her!

Kelly Kelly: Has really improved since her days in ECW and is actually considered a threat to the womans championship. Her mic skills and in-ring skills are improving give her a little bit more time and she will be womans champion. Keep her!

Tiffany: Haven't seen much of her. Her mic skills have improved but as far as in-ring skills go not that great. However she has not been given time to improve I mean she has just gone from GM of ECW to a SD diva give her time. As for as keeping her or letting her go haven't decided yet maybe.

Rosa Mendes: Horrible in the ring and average on the mic. Shes been given time to improve and hasen't even a little bit let her go.

Serena: Awesome mic skills and from what I've heard is a good wrestle. She actually holds a record in some other wrestling company. As soon as she gets away from the SES she should be fine. Keep her!

Okay so thats all the divas.

Keep:
Beth Phoniex
Eve
Gail Kim
Jillian
Kelly Kelly
Maryse
Melina
Michelle McCool
Natayla
Serena
Tamina

Fire
Alicia Fox
Brie Bella
Nikki Bella
Rosa Mendes

Undecided
Layla
Tiffany
I think these two divas deserve more time to prove theirselves.

Also move some of the divas to SD they need some more divas do all this and your diva divison should be fine and actually improve more.:)

Also I'm going to be a WWE diva one day so I can help improve the divison then because I care more about wrestling then looks.

I think one of the worst things the WWE can do in any division is to try to go back and repackage people in order to capture the spirit of the Attitude Era. That product was fantastic, and it's over. They're in a new Era now. Actually, it feels like they're just about to end this lackluster Era and pull into something new...but the point is they need to look at what they have, build it up, and use it to the best of its ability. The women's division has great workers right now, and they don't need to mirror the divas of old. They need to use their talent like Melina, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Michelle, and Maryse like they should be used. Natalya is great, and should be kicking diva ass, but isn't because she's got to be the Hart mouthpiece. She could be the Hart mouthpiece AND the Divas champion...but I guess instead we just won't ever see her wrestle.

Also, your choices seem to be based completely on stereotypes and appearance. In no way are any of them more similar than just the way they look. Mickie was the closest thing we had to a Trish Stratus when she was here, and now she's gone. The need to kick ass, not pretend to be something they're not.

Step 1 - Ditch the Divas belt

Step 2 - Push the womens belt across both shows

Step 3 - Get Eve Torres, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Laycool, Kelly Kelly, Tiffany, Rosa Mendes, The Bella Twins as far away from a wrestling ring as possible.

Step 4 - Rehire Mickie James

Step 5 - Stop Natalya, Tamina and Serena being managers.

Then you're roster, with injuries - looks like this:

- Gail Kim
- Natalya
- Tamina
- Serena
- Melina
- Beth Phoenix
- Mickie James
- Jillian

= A perfectly serviceable division.

This is probably one the best ideas you could use for the divas. Also, if WWE hires some other talent like even Awesome Kong then they would really have a good women's division. The divas have no personality right now and no one cares about them. LayCool drives people nuts. WWE needs more hard workers that can actually wrestle and use the eye candy for valets.

There is no need for a diva's title or for 2 women's titles. Get rid of them along with the models.
