What would have happened if?

The Ultimate Warrior went to the AWA or Crockett promotions instead of the WWF? Would he have became a big star eventually or would he have just faded away into obscurity? I really don't know what would have happened.

I got the idea of this after watching the Warrior Hogan internet feud plus I watched the Ultimate Warrior DVD today.

Faded into obcurity. Remember, he was the Dingo Warrior, not something that really screams main event, before going to the WWF. Guys like Lawler and Hennig Got out of AWA because they had a peigree. The Rockers went to the WWE because at the time, there was a real focus on tag team wrestling, hence why the company brought in team like the Rougeau's, Demolition, British Bulldogs, etc. Barring something like the above mentioned, no one really got out of the AWA and became a sure fire main eventer

I don't understand. Shawn Michaels was definitely a main eventer.

But I don't think that would have happened. He just seems like the guy who would have always gone to WWE. Although if he did choose AWA I don't think he would be as well known as he is today or would have gotten the chance to rival people like Hogan.

It's hard to say what would have become of Ultimate Warrior had he not gone to the WWF. That's like asking what would have happened to Goldberg if he went to the WWF instead of WCW in 1997 (according to his book, he met with Jim Ross and almost signed with WWF).

Back when he was Blade Runner Rock in the UWF, Bill Watts didn't think very much of him. When the Blade Runners threatened to walk in 1986, Watts let him go but made an effort to keep Sting.

Having listened to the Warriors two part interview with MLW he talked about this very topic. He said he wouldn't have worked out in those promotions because they were more strict and authoratative then the WWF was. He said the WWF incouraged creativity and gave wrestlers input in their character whereas the other guys where more do it this way. Warrior also said that Sting was able to flourish there because he was ok with taking orders and doing what he was told, but for himself he couldn't work under those conditions and would not have lasted.

sorry dude, but you are way off there. Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Bobby Heenan, Gene Okerlund, Paul Orndorff,Adrian Adonis, David Schultz, Rick Martel to name a few were all poached by Vicne from the AWA in 1983-1984. Vince raided the talent of NWA, AWA, World Class, Memphis wherever to get the roster he wanted to take WWE from a state promotion to a world wide phenomenon. Lawler didnt make it to WWE until 1993 full time,. and this was only because his promotion was going belly ip. Hennig had been in WWE in the early 80s and left to gain more experience before Vince bought him back in 1988. The Rockers got their big break in the AWA true, but to say Lawler and Hennig are the only guys from AWA to do anything is ridiculous. Sorry man, but check your AWA history

If he stayed I don't think he would be as big. I mean all the AWA star listed made their way to the WWE where they became really huge. Most got there start in AWA, and then went on to bigger things. Not to say they weren't stars in AWA, but WWE gave them the exposure and character they all needed to get super over.
