What the ECW Roster Should Be

With the draft and the recent draft I was thinking of what ECW should be. I'm thinking that they could just put all the under utilized guys there and have it be a pure wrestling show. The roster could look somewhat like this:

CM Punk
Jamie Noble
Matt Sydal/Evan Bourne
Brian Kendrik
Paul London
Charlie Haas
Shelton Benjamin
Shannon Moore
Jimmy Wany Yang
Matt Hardy
Gregory Helms if/when he returns
Bryan Danielson if he's signed

And then you could throw in some extras as needed. I've always had it in my mind that RAW should be the edgy mainstream mix, Smackdown should be the kid friendly show and ECW should be the pure wrestling show. Then again I also think that it should once again be one brand and we could cut a lot of dead weight. But given what we have, I think that could be a fun roster.

Thoughts...

I agree with I_Like_All_Wrestling on this. If you guys have read my posts in other threads, I always advocate that ECW should be the pure wrestling show. currently, RAW, Smackdown, and ECW are just mirror images of one another. They're practically the same. There's no diversity. That's why WWE is getting boring. It's the same thing three times a week.

Therefore, I agree with I_Like_All_Wrestling's draft picks for ECW, with the addition of Finlay, Super Crazy, Carlito, and Ron Killings (once he arrives).

And see above. Vince enjoys making money, not loosing it. None of those guys could draw flies to shit. So it would be an absolutely horrible idea.

Thats what vince would do if he wanted to loose hundreds of thousands of doallars every week :lmao:

LMFAO! SO true...

If ECW had that roster, nobody would watch it except all the smarks. Hardcore WWE fans are not into the pure type of wrestling. That would be like a mini, WWE-ifyed version of ROH. While ROH does have its own fan-base, that fan-base isn't near big enough for the ratings the WWE is looking for. For WWE to have a working show, they need a mix of superstars, including heavyweights, middleweights, women, and cruiserweights (notice how women were before cruiserweights, as that is how low WWE considers those guys). I'm not saying that those guys aren't good at what they do, its just that their style doesn't bring in ratings, or money, which are the only two things WWE cares about.

EDIT: LOL at Norcal's last comment!

Its two perespectives. Would I personally watch that show every week?? Fuck yes I would. It would be entertaining as all get out. To me. But it would never make any money. Those TV segments cost somewere in the range of 300,000$ per segment to make, and that JUST TV time. None of those guys draw at all, the WWE would be absolutely BLEEDING money on this show. Would be fun to watch, but it would be a terrible idea on Vince's part. Sorry.

In theory it's good but it needs more well known names, give them some Jericho, maybe even some guys that arent being used all that often like Jeff Hardy, have him tag with matt, though Vince isnt a fan of tag teams but yeah.

I think it still needs that WWE storyline edge or else it would just Sink not swim.

So you are saying nothing would change. You can't honestly tell me that this idea could be any worse for ECW now? You've got to be out of your mind. Vince is bleeding money now with ECW because it's filled with guys that aren't draws. But if you atleast put in your best wrestlers into one program and give the fans something different what's that going to hurt?

I honestly think this would work. ECW wouldn't lose any fans, the guys that watch ECW now still would watch it, only they'd be drawing in more fans who want to see this. Kane didn't bring in a bunch of new fans to ECW. ECW has 2 different fans, one that watch it and ones that don't. Either this would be good for the WWE or it would be no different, but it would not be worse. Especially as bad as you are trying to make it.

I'd also like to add that these guys aren't draws because they get burried into the midcard on shows like SD & RAW. The WWE doesn't do a good job at promoting & pushing it's talent, so to place them on a show where they don't have guys like Cena & Triple H, they could shine and become draws.

So you see nothing bad comes out of this. Either WWE strikes gold or nothing changes.

They should have a stable on ECW. Heel. They take over the show. Never lose. Make every other roster members life hell. Then have them finally take over the whole of the brand. But refuse to move. Then have a stable from SD or Raw come over and challenge them. The ECW wrestlers wouldn't be as big stars as in the other stable. But by the end they would be equal.

Not on topic. But this is the spam zone. So there.

I don't see a problem with ECW being a pure wrestling show. And why wouldn't it not be profitable? RAW is losing ratings right now. Smackdown doesn't have as high a rating compared to RAW (which is losing ratings). Make ECW into a different type of show instead of making it another RAW/Smackdown, and ECW's rating will increase. Those who watch the current ECW will continue to watch it. ROH fans might get into it. Heck, even those hardcore original ECW fans who had walked away might return.

And sure, if a monster heel stable is on the cards, why not? At least Snitsky wrestles reasonably on HEAT.
