What music artist are you ashamed of liking?

Ferbian

Has Returned.
We probably all have that band, singer, boyband etc. that we're ashamed of saying "Well I like them" when people talk about them.

Even if they're a great band by your own opinion, and you like them, but you openly deny it when people around you talk about how much they don't like them (bands like Nickelback and Creed getting a lot of heat on this forum for example)

But what band do you like? but are ashamed of admitting to your surrounds that you like them?

Personally I like the following:

A1 (boyband): I don't know why, but there's just something about these guys, I liked their music, they disbanded many years ago back when I liked them with the song "caught in the middle" and one day I found it on youtube in one of the featured songs, and decided to listen to it, and I started listening to them more, and started liking them.

Nickelback: Yes I said it, I can't say I've listened to all of their songs, I've listened to the complete Dark Horse album (multiple times) and I admit there's about 1-2 songs on there I don't like, but the rest of it I like, and I haven't found one of their singles I didn't like yet, so I'd consider them to be pretty good if I haven't got any hate for their singles.

How about you? what / who are you ashamed of?

Edit: Justin Timberlake: You can't deny this guy's talent, he has a great voice, and I've grown to like him especially over the last couple of years since the "FutureSex/LoveSounds" album, his style changed nicely over the years from his first album to this one, and I think it was a positive change, I liked him back then, but I like him more now.

Well, I'm not generally ashamed of anything, especially not what I like in musical taste, but I do have one I'm always worried about mentioning when I first meet someone.

My Chemical Romance: It doesn't reflect to well on a genre of music when the genre is called shit by the lead singer of the poster band of that genre. When people think emo music, they think My Chemical Romance. The last thing I would want to be associated with is a group of people that regularly cut (or say they do) themselves to repress painful emotions, so I'm pretty hesitant telling people I like the band even though I do once I know someone well enough.

And..

If you weren't Ferbian, I'd red rep the hell out of you for this. ;)

There aren't too many bands that I'm ashamed of liking. Usually doesn't make sense to like an artist you would be ashamed of listening to. However, one that I am a little ashamed of liking is Maroon 5.

They aren't the usual rock music that I listen to, but I like their almost jazzy funky sound. They are just great at making quality and intelligent music. The music is catchy. They use many different sounds ranging from peaceful and slow, to upbeat and funky. Its something different from I what I usually listen to, which I guess is a good thing.

Damn, you beat me to it. I've noticed that people usually don't react well when I mention that I like MCR, but that's fine with me. I actually used to hate them a bit myself, until I actually gave them a chance. That's something I've started to see a lot; if I try to like a band I feel that way about, I may end up loving them.

Another one would have to be Panic! At The Disco. I haven't heard their first album, but Pretty, Odd is pretty great(pun not intended).

I'm not ashamed of liking any band I have listened to and rocked out on. I don't think it makes me less of a man to say I liked Britney Spears and N*Sync back in the day. I would be honest, because real men don't lie to themselves.

Now as far as Guilty Pleasures go, there is one man who's music is catchy, exhilerating, and just makes me wanna sing along in the car to. I'm not even a real fan of Rap, but this guy to me is the Chuck Norris of Rap.

I am talking about "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and his inspiring single "Be A Man". Can't get enough of that shit.

The artist I'm most ashamed of liking is probably 3oh!3 need I say more? Their song Don't Trust Me got me hooked on spring break last year and I still love that shit. Alot of people I know think they suck, but I say fuck that.

Another one that got me last year wasn't really an artist so much as the song. "I'm On a Boat" got me and got me good. I love pretty much everything about the song.

Taylor Swift. I thought she was just another pretty face with not much actual talent, but she is actually surprisingly good. Her second album is way better than I expected.

3oh!3 was a major addiction for me a year or so ago as well. I thought it was catchy as hell, and well.. it helped me meet one of my now ex-girlfriends. haha. I still know the words to most N'Sync songs, I listened to them alot as a kid. I really don't know why.

For me it will have to be Adam Lambert.
This guy is super talented! Amazing entertainer, he puts on the craziest concerts, he really knows how to get the audience go nuts.
He can hit the highest notes, and all I can say is...damn!

I get ashamed of listening to his music bcuz
a) all my friends call me a fagid, and a homo for loving his music (which I am not, but if they think I am good for them)
B) becuz ppl know me as a guy who only likes rock and metal, not pop.
C) bc. All my friends bother me that he's gay etc .they are Homophobic
Ps: I was going to get concert tickets for Adam in Times Square, but I turned them down becuz I was embaressed.

I'm not ashamed of any music that I listen to. The way I see it, music is all about interpretation and varies from person to person. The great strength of music is that what is right for someone, may not be right foe someone else and that is why so many sub-genres and bands exist. Everyone wants to accomplish something different when they set out to make music and that is why music has something for everyone. I have never been one to get bogged down in what other people think of the music I am listening to and I love to play my music extremely loud on public transport... It thrills me. That being said, I have a couple of artists in my playlist that, conventionally, people would be ashamed of listening to.

The first one of those artists is Justin Bieber. Trust me when I tell you that I wish I didn't like these songs because they are so fucking cheesy but I just can't get enough of his style. He is undoubtedly a good singer and deserves the fame that he is receiving. I heard "Baby" a long time ago and then heard "One Time" and thought that he was quite good. Then I heard "Eenie Meenie" and eventually decided that I needed to hear the album to make up my mind on a final judgement. I downloaded it and found it to be not horrible. Needless to say, I've kept it on my iTunes.

Also, I could not tell you how much time I spent playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. K-Rose was undoubtedly my favourite of the radio stations and I haven't been able to get over it since. I deliberately made a playlist with all of the songs on it and many people would find that strange. The playlist includes Conway Twitty and Patsy Cline but I honestly couldn't care less. I like listening to them and that's really all that counts.

However, one that I am a little ashamed of liking is Maroon 5.

Hi, I love you.
Seriously though, I wanted to mention Maroon 5 too.
Their songs are often a little similar and all seem to graze the same he/she subject, very heavy on the cheesy side.
If I objectively think about their music's quality, they're really not the greatest.
However, they have captured me as a fan since This Love (hey, I was young & naive) and I still listen to them a lot.

I have seen Panic! At The Disco mentioned.
P!ATD and Fall Out Boy seem to be bands that people think they should be ashamed of liking.
I disagree. Their singers, Brendon Urie and Patrick Stump, have two of the best and most unique voices in the music business right now, and for me that is enough to overcome the "Oh, I only like them because they're so emo/hip/whatever is the latest term to be". After all, you don't have to like their fans, you have to like their music. And if you do so, that doesn't automatically make you belong in that hipster category.

I didn't even realized that people hated the Red Hot Chili Peppers until I started becoming more involved with internet communities. If you reveal that you like RHCP to someone who doesn't like them, prepare for a storm of "Oh, yeah! I like that one song they do about California and drugs. Oh wait that's every song"

Which is pretty true, for the most part. But hey, I think the guitarist, bass player, and drummer are really talented. I also like the singer's voice, but not many people do, so I keep that under wraps.

Im not really ashamed to like any, a little embarassed maybe but i dont mind because id rather like some genuinely then pretend to like the popular ones at the time because everyone buys it.
So Westlife is mine, when you have someone the romantic songs get an extra meaning.

Wait, I'm supposed to be ashamed for liking the Red Hot Chili Peppers! What the hell has this world come to! I really don't care if all their songs about california and drugs, they are a damn good band! they have a great guitarist, bassist, drummer, and i like their singers voice too. so all you internet message board posters can lay off the chilies and go back to wasting your life in front of a computer! whew, good talk.

another guy i get raised eyebrows for saying i like is john mayer. I prefer his work in the trio, but his solo work is good too. He has a great voice, and his song's have a good bluesey influence to them.
