What match got you into pro wrestling

80s 90s 00s I'm sure there was a match that got you into pro wrestling. I always remember watching wrestling as a kid with my dad, but I remember the match that made me watch all by myself. It was wrestlemania X and the match was between shawn michaels and razor ramone in what was arguably the best if not in the top 5 ladder matches. But as a 12 yr old boy the action excitement this jedi craved more of this. So the point of this thread what got you into pro wrestling don't care if its WWE/F TNA ROH ECW WCW or what.

For me and I'm guessing several other Britons, the PPV that probably got us started was the 2000 Royal Rumble as it was broadcast on Channel 4, a free channel. After that, Heat started making appearances too as well as maybe a year or two of sporadic PPVs.

As for the match of the card that got me hooked, I'd say HHH v Cactus Jack. The tables match was awesome, I liked seeing Tazz choke out Angle and the Royal Rumble itself was top-notch, but the promo and match for HHH/Cactus Jack were almost TOO good of an enticement!

The match for me was Undertaker vs Bret Hart (with Shawn Michaels as the guest referee) at SummerSlam 1997. That was the first time I'd seen a wrestling event and I was into the entire pay-per-view, but the main event in particular, sold me on wrestling.

After that, I watched wrestling religiously for almost 10 years until late-2006 when the WWE was feeling stale to me. I still occasionally watch, and I've been a lot more interested lately with the whole C.M Punk and HHH happenings - but Bret/Taker was the match that reeled me in!

Being that I am only 25, the first match that made me like wrestling was the Royal Rumble in 1998. Stone Cold Steve Austin being a marked man was great.

Hogan vs Andre & Savage vs Steamboat.

Really couldn't tell you which one I liked more back then. Even still I like both, but between the two I like Savage vs Steamboat now.

I kinda fell out with WWF for a while, got caught up in school and whatnot, the one that sucked me BACK in after several months of not watching was Undertaker vs Kamala at SS92.

Again, I fell out of wrestling for a while when I was in highschool, the next thing that slowly brought me back again, was Goldberg's streak. I saw his debut, I remember that much, then I was doing something else while I had nitro on tv, not really paying attention, and it went on that way for a number of weeks as I slowly got more and more interested in the different characters. But I remember many of Goldberg's first matches and I really got into his streak storyline, plus nWo was pretty badass too.

Then the next time I stopped watching wrestling was when I got married and bought a house, but I heard that nWo was coming back and I had to see that, so I watched for another 2 years before stopping again after Goldberg, Rock, Austin, Hall & Nash were all gone.

And finally Bret Hart's return in 2010 was what brought me back again, and I've been watching ever since.

edge vs kane steel cage on raw sometime in summer of 2005. my cousin had introduced me to wrestling a couple of weeks before that but i was not intrested in thoose episodes of raw so i gave it one more chance. the match was great and i finally realized how exiting a match could be as well as brutal. afterwards i fell in love with WWE and found out about TNA only a few short months later and i have not fallen out of wrestling since.

Well let's see.

What got me into wrestling for the very first time in 1996/97 when I am six years old? I actually played WCW vs. NWO World Tour and THAT was what got me hooked.

What got me BACK into wrestling? When Sheamus beat Cena at TLC 2009 and won the WWE Championship it gave me a glimmer of hope for fresh talent in the main event. And as a result I have been a fan ever since and Sheamus has been my favorite.

I'm glad some people posted in this thread from reading you guys responses I hit up youtube and relieved the past glory. I love the trip down memory lane keep them coming folks.

I actually can't remember a single match, when I was younger I got into the characters. I remember the first wrestling show I saw was WCW Nitro. It was 1997 and I was having a sleep over with a friend and he introduced me to wrestling. Bill Goldberg was the first thing I remember about wrestling and it was him that made me really start to like wrestling. He told me all about the streak and how he destroyed everyone he faced.

After that Nitro I didn't watch wrestling for a while until sometime in 1998 when my older brother started to watch WWF/E. We both had televisions in our rooms and I remember every time something crazy would happen we both would start to run to one anther's room. It was Stone Cold who really hooked me into becoming a hardcore fan.

It was probably in 1991...I seem to remember seeing a clip of Randy Savage getting his arm chewed by a huge snake and thought this was the best thing i'd ever seen! The first show I watched was the Tuesday PPV which had Bret Hart vs Skinner, Savage vs Jake the Snake and Hogan vs Taker and after that was pretty much hooked. I was always interested in wrestling, but have been totally addicted since I discovered i-tunes did wrestling radio podcastsm and just cant listen to them enough while i'm working.

hell yeah podcasts are the shit. I'm a huge fan of the AOW with colt cabanna, I remember the jake the snake fued with macho man. That was a good match I remember seeing it but it was just want what got me into the sport.

Im only 17, so the first match I watched that really got me into wrestling, was he match between Eddie Guerrero and The Big Show on an episode of Smackdown! In 2004. The in ring skill of Guerrero and his cheating antics are what got me into the show. I liked the innovative way in which he went about the ring and seeing The Big Show get 'fired' at this time and the fans huge reaction to this amazed me. R.I.P Eddie

Andre vs Hogan (WM 3), Savage vs Hogan (WM 5), and a Saturday Night Main Event that included a Battle Royal and a main event that had Hogan and Tugboat in a tag match, I think it may have been against Earthquake and/or Dino Bravo.

Just watched the matched mentioned and I suddenly remembered the match that got be back into wrestling. It was goldberg vs lesner, now I know it was a crappy match but I had to see if the rest of wrestling went to shit, I was surprised to see it wasn't that bad.

Weird but savage vs Santana Boston garden 1986 on VHS in 1988 I was 3 I remember watching that match only on that tape till I was 14.... coke up savage promo after was pure genius also

It's hard for me to pinpoint a particular match, but I was maybe 6 or 7 when I first saw the Undertaker debut. My whole family used to watch wrestling and it the Taker/Kamala casket match that got me really hooked.Never stopped since then.

I'm probably dating myself by saying this, but the first one I remember watching was the first Saturday Night's Main Event, a few months after WrestleMania 1. The one match I remember was Hulk Hogan vs. Bob Orton, with Mr. T and Roddy Piper in their corners. I think Piper wound up getting Orton DQ'd, but then they beat up Hogan and T until Paul Orndorff came into the ring to make the save. Afterwards, T and Orndorff joined Hogan for his post-match posing.

I started watching WWF and other wrestling after that. In the 80's, I also got to see AWA, NWA, Pro Wrestling This Week and I even watched GLOW back then.
