Do you guys even LIKE pro wrestling anymore??

wrestling been on and off for me, i start i stop then start again but will always love it. I think this new roster has potential and a lot of stars are going to be made. So yeah Raw isn't always good, but the bright side Smackdown is as interesting since Paul Heyman use to write it. Nxt is pretty solid PPVs has been hit and miss but the cards keep my interest. The roster pretty much young so soon you'll see everything you complain about will stop just be patient

Excellent post OP. I have been pro wrestling fan since about 1988 or so. I'll tell you what bugs me most about the IWC...

I get so tired of the people on here talking bad about WWE legends. I hate when people call Hulk Hogan stuff like "Grandpa" and bash him for being a "self promoter." WTF do you think wrestling is if not "self promotion"?. IWC folks are always wanting something new. They sit here and worship Seth Rollins and Damien Sandow, but say that they don't wanna see the Rock take on HHH because "they've seen it before". The IWC continues to bash John Cena because he doesn't pretend to be crazy like Dean Ambrose. Because he is a the hardest working superstar and doesn't need to revert to vulgarity or silly gimmicks to make himself popular.
And most sickeningly, the way the IWC has anointed CM Punk. If you ask them, they'd tell you he was the greatest wrestler ever, and got screwed over by not being declared "the guy." Truth is Punk is just an average pro wrestler who was lucky enough to be in the WWE at a time when there just wasn't a lot of top tier talent. If that guy had debuted in lets say '95 he would have just been an afterthought. Imagine if CM Punk's competition had been Austin, Rock, Foley, Taker, HBK, HHH, Flair, Sting, Hogan, Savage, Luger, and the rest of the REAL modern legends of wrestling. Punk would have been a once a month on tv jobber who didn't even get entrance music.
The IWC lacks perspective.
If you are watching wrestling it should be because you like wrestling, not because you want to watch sports entertainment history happen, or because your expecting something brand new every Monday. You have to be entertained equally by all aspects of the show. You should laugh when Santino puts on his cobra sock, and you should hold your breathe when Jeff Hardy takes a dive from a 30 ft. ladder. You should scream at the top of your lungs when Hogan cups his ear in your direction, your side should be the loudest. You should smell what the Rock is cooking, and the hair on your neck should rise when the Bell tolls for the Undertaker. You need to be shouting either "lets go Cena" , or "Cena sucks", You should gimme a hell yeah, when the glass break's for Stone Cold, and hold your phone up when Bray Wyatt comes out.
Pro Wrestling is the one place where all forms on modern entertainment come together, theres something there for everyone.

Punk was easily the best wrestler for 3 years straight and those 3 years he actually made wrestling fun to watch, i had stopped watching wrestling for years until Punk's way to the top. Thats why you hear CM Punk chants every night on Raw because every fan knew he was the best. And you really wanna say we lack perspective Hogan wouldn't last 5 min in this day and age because he sucked lets be honest, Foley would have been useless because everything he was popular for he won't be able to do. You can't put superstars in other time periods because it different times.

Dude, CM Punk was popular for 3 years, sure, but at no time was he anywhere near the best wrestler. He's about as sloppy as they come. Just watch a mashup of his GTS finisher on Youtube.

Pro Wrestling is the one place where all forms on modern entertainment come together, theres something there for everyone.

The "IWC" DOESN'T Exists!!! Its a fairytale. We are all WWE fans and as a community we are known as the WWE Universe. That's the way its supposed to be. "Internet fans" are just fans of the internet and like to talk about the internet. Being a part of the WWE Universe means we voice our opinions and communicate with others on the great match last Monday, or the funniest segment on Smackdown, or how awesome that rivalry was in the summer. WE also want this Superstar to climb up the ranks or that guest host to never come back. The internet is just one platform where we communicate. The same things us fans are posting online are the same things we would say in the school cafeteria with our buds or in the barbershop with fellow members of the WWE Universe. I don't hear people talking about the "Barbershop Wrestling Community". That's silly. WE ARE THE WWE UNIVERSE!!! And calling Hulk Hogan a GRANDPA is just playful banter that we as WWE fans and members of the WWE Universe have the honor to do so. That's why we still chant 'You sold out' to Seth Rollins even though its been 6 months since his betrayal. Its also why we chant "What?" when a disrespectful Superstar like Rusev is talking. Its all part of being in the WWE Universe and its a fun privilege. We can't start "What?" chants when our teachers are talking or yell " You sold out" to the fellow employee who got promoted to higher position. Each week we have great wrestling and intriguing storylines that captivate us fans and I couldn't think of anything else to be excited for on a day-to-day basis. The WWE is the GREATEST form of entertainment and it is fun to be a WWE fan in WWE Universe!

you should know GTS needs to be sold, if you have a wrestler who doesn't bend down when the knees comes then of course its going to look sloppy

Nope.

They've been running off of the same formula for years now. Last exciting thing was The Shield and prior to that, Punk's 500 Day Reign.

I'm a relatively young dude, I'll just say I'm at the front half of college, but I definitely feel like I've outgrown the spectacle of pro wrestling. And as much as the WWE sucks creatively, at the end of the day it is still going to be JUST fake fighting; at its best, it's cheesy acting and acrobatics. Maybe it's not an entertainment form meant to be enjoyed lifelong?

I try to get into the UFC every now and then but it's pretty boring because first off, I don't know the personalities, so I don't really know or have a preference in who I want to win. I definitely enjoyed the (possibly scripted) Jon Jones/Daniel Cormier shenanigans and am anticipating that bout. I do like Jon Jones. But for the most part it's hard to get into. Another thing I don't like is that judges can decide who wins, and it's not like it's an objective way to decide that like in any other sport.

I also saw that segment where Bellator tried to mix pro wrestling stories into MMA buildup and it was the corniest thing ever, worst than any TNA, WWE or WCW2000 Segment I've seen, maybe because MMA fighters heads are already beaten to mush, so it's kind of crazy to expect them to be actors too.

I don't know. Like I said, I like Jon Jones. Maybe CM Punk will bring some spice personality-wise to the UFC, but meh, nothing from pro wrestling or MMA is really captivating me right now. Maybe I'll come back when I have a son and enjoy watching him think it's real. Maybe I'll come back the next time I hear about something from either world in mainstream news because I'm losing the patience for them to work out the kinks.

Hey Sherlock, the idea that "if you dont like it, dont watch it" also applies to everything in life.

Aka if you do not like people complaining, then do not address them or pay attention to them? See how that works?

Why should you be able to dictate who can comment on what? What makes you so special?

There is irony that i am now complaining about you complaining about them, complaining about WWE or whatever. But you see the circle we are in. If the product truly satisfies you, why the F do you care what someone else thinks? If you are so sure the product is good, then you are obviously the winner here right? You get to enjoy "amazing" WWE product, you won. Congrats

I take the good with the bad. Last RAW/The Slammy's were pretty rough but the main event with Cena and Big Show actually surprised me with all the spots and run-ins... a match on paper I would have probably not even bothered to watch or had it running in the background.

Wrestling is hit or miss. Of course we still love wrestling or we wouldn't be here. I know this is "sports entertainment", but it's not so different from football fans who have shitty teams year after year but still support for the "good moments"... and looking back, 2014 was not the abysmal year it was painted to be. There were a lot of cool moments and painful-to-watch moments, but that's always been wrestling.

I actually think that a lot of people on here may not love wrestling.

Then why would they post on here?

It seems to have become cool to troll boards, and have haters come on and criticize anything and everything. Many boards I have visited are full of negativity and hate, so why wouldn't wrestlezone be one?

I mean, I firmly believe that Mark Madden hates wrestling. He calls it "fake fighting", showing that he has no respect for the sport whatsoever. He only writes about it because there is money to be made and a wide readership to read his drivel.

If you truly love something or someone, you stick with it through thick and thin. You forgive their mistakes. You jump to their defence when anyone says something negative about them.

Do many here jump to wrestling's defence? Do they jump to WWE's defence when it is criticized? Or do they join in with the criticism?

You can always tell a hater. A hater criticises, but offers no solution themselves. They will bag WWE for something, but then not say how they would do things better. How do you know something is wrong, if you can't say what a better alternative is. Maybe the way WWE does things is the best way, unless you can suggest something better.

Also, haters only ever criticise, and never complement. A hater will say that Vince McMahon is old, is out of touch, has no idea what he is doing, but never credit that he is the same man who invented Wrestlemania, and that without him, wrestling in the U.S.A. would be dead today. You can't be too critical of someone who you never had high expectations of to begin with.

I see many here demonstrate their hate. They only ever talk about the bad from the PG era, never the good. They always complain about new guys being buried, and never admit that some guys didn't have it to begin with.

If a star gets over, they got themselves over, but if someone doesn't get over, it's Vince fault. Yet you forget that, without Vince McMahon, "Stunning" Steve Austin, Flex Kavana, Mark Callaway and Terra Ryzing wouldn't be the stars they were today, without the WWE machine to repackage, market and push them. If they could make themselves stars, they would have done it before they came to WWE, not after.

Also, if you stop watching wrestling, if you don't care about it anymore, then you are not a lover of it. Would you stop loving your kids if they do something wrong, yet you would abandon wrestling when it does something you don't like. You stick to your football or baseball team, when they may not have won the championship for decades, yet you lose interest in a guy the moment they lose their first match, and won't support them anymore. Anyone who does that obviously doesn't love wrestling, or they would stick to it to the death, like they would with their family or their football team. You never leave that which you love.

You can't fall out of love with something. If you do, maybe you never loved it to begin with.

I watch WWE and TNA. I don't like anything else. I gave them a chance but Japan, Mexico and ROH styles do NOTHING for me. Japan is too quiet. Mexico is just silly and uber fake. ROH is a the biggest joke. MASSIVE spot fests. They put on hour long matches and the guys are landing 1000 finishers per second. They no sell so bad. That is just boring because I have no idea when the match will end and yeah.

Anyway. Although I watch WWE/TNA, I don't enjoy watching them. I watch RAW because nothing else is on Monday Nights. I have more fun bashing the show than watching it. I only look at the screen when Rollins, Ambrose, Bryan or Ziggler is on the screen. Everyone else on the roster bores me....well Mizdow is awesome too.

I can't stand John Cena. He gets himself involved in every storyline to steal the spotlight. He joins with people like Ziggler to try to make himself look cool. Cena is the biggest heel on the RAW roster and I can't stand him. His promo's are cringe worthy and he constantly tells us he's the best and he isn't going anywhere.

This puts fear in me because Cena could be there for another 15 years!!! So I am highly contemplating to just stop watching until he is gone. But when Cena leaves.... Roman Reigns will become Cena 2.0 and Superman everyone for another 10 years. Like HOLY MOLY!!! Vince needs to quit it with the unstoppable monsters.

You say that you only watch WWE and TNA, but most of it bores you. You don't sound like you like wrestling very much, as not many things about it makes you happy.

You'll be glad to know that probably Cena won't be around for the next 15 years. Cena comes back from injuries way too quickly, and doing that too often eventually catches up to you. Cena's body may fail on him much sooner than his will to perform.

However, I tip that you won't mind Cena so much after he retires. Familiarity breeds contempt, so not seeing him will make you not be annoyed as much. In fact, if he returns to go into the HoF, you might even give polite applause for nostalgia reasons, and because, if you hate wrestling now, you will really hate it later when the next era won't be as good in your eyes, as the PG Era, just like the PG Era couldn't compare to the "Attitude Era", and because people never appreciate something when it is right in front of them.

So you only like the cool guys, the guys others on here like. So you can't even like a couple of different guys. No, you have to be a sheep and wheel the same four names that everyone else wheel out is going to save this industry, but if they get that push to the moon, you will complain that they are being "shoved down your throats" , turn on that superstar, and then get behind the next cool guy that the IWC get behind.

I'll preface this. I'm 44yo. And yes I still like pro wrestling - the emphasis on wrestling. Each week between family and work I still watch everything WWE can throw at me, and make time to check out ROH, TNA and NJPW as often as I can. I'm what you may call a rusted on wrestling fan.

I come on to sites like wrestlezone to see the news and the opinions and the general feedback from the IWC, of which I declare myself a part of by association. About 25% of the time it's worthwhile.

The other 75% of the time it's pissing and moaning and bitching and whining. I can live with the my favourite star isn't being pushed logic - I can deal with the Cena sux logic. I can even deal with ROH NJPW is better than WWE logic.

What I can't deal with is the so called IWC members who bash everything. RAW sucked tonight, like it sucked every week for the last 10 years, but I'll still watch it. TNA sux, even though I just read the truncated results on here and didn't actually watch the show.

Why the hell are you still watching pro wrestling for? As Vince since, there's every other form of competition to take you away. Hell, even Mark Madden says there's more people that used to watch pro wrestling than still do. It seems pro wrestling got left with the rump.

Just a thought - if you truly love pro wrestling - in all it's forms from Lou Thesz to The Damn Bunny - then by all means say your piece. If you used to love the Attitude Era and now just think it's shit - then guess what? It ain't ever going back to that, so go off to UFC or Robot Chicken or whatever makes you happy.

Pro Wrestling - for better or worse - is for Pro Wrestling fans. If you ain't a fan anymore, ask yourself, and know before you answer that Vinnie Mac ain't listening, why do you waste time on here?

If all pro wrestling fans wanted was pro wrestling, then why is WWE still the No. 1 company, and not say ROH or Japan.

Why do people not get behind people who put on great matches like Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison? It was because supposedly they couldn't cut a promo. But we only care about their wrestling, who cares if they couldn't talk?

Wrestling fans say that they like wrestling, but they actually like sports entertainment. Otherwise, why still watch it. WWE didn't lie. They didn't say that they were wrestling, but are actually sports entertainment. So, if you choose to watch it, you are watching it because it is more than just wrestling.

No, not really.

If you want me to rephrase that- yes I like Pro wrestling. But I don't like WWE or TNA or any other main stream professional wrestling company. I don't watch either WWE or TNA anymore and haven't for years. But I still like the sport of professional wrestling, the spectacle that is professional wrestling. It is that very love that even has me coming onto internet sites like this as I am (and why everyone here is a fan of professional wrestling). I fell in love with the sport many years ago, and am unable to get it out of my system- like I'm sure most people here. It is that very love that keeps me talking about it, reminiscing about it, and dreaming up sublimely impossible dreams. It is that love that has encouraged me to learn as much about the sport as I possible can. And it is that love that keeps me wanting and wishing the best for it that it can possibly be; which is why if I criticize it is not out of hatred it is out of love.

So to answer your question- no I am not a fan of the WWE or really anything happening in the wrestling landscape today. But Yes I am a fan of Professional Wrestling.
