What Kind Of A Name Is Nature Boy?

I'm watching a WCW PPV and Flair's robe says Nature Boy. What does that name mean? I know it's supposed to mean he's a ladies man and limousine riding, jet flying and all that jazz, but when you hear the term nature boy out of context, doesn't it seem like he should be a tree hugging hippie or something?

I think it is just a play off of something like "the natural" although the song from the 40s that I think is rumored to be where Buddy Rogers got the name makes you wonder about the liking boys angle.

In one of those history of prowrestling biographies they talk about Buddy Rogers and I think Flair does an interview where he talks about what the name means among other things.

SD has it right. I think I read it in an interview that it's a play on wrestlers being called "The Natural". It ties into the long-bleached-blonde-hair-with-tan look.

I think Goku was once called "Nature Boy" in Dragonball. But he was a tree hugger. Not a blond. Yet.
