Pre-Show Stalwart
For me it has to be HBK vs Angle.

This to me, was SLIGHTLY better than the first HBK-Taker.

It might just be me, but I don't see it get nearly as much credit as it should.

Honorable mentions would be HHH-Taker from WM17, Flair-Savage, and Edge-Foley.

I believe the most underrated Wrestlemania match of all time was The Undertaker vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Title at 24.

The build up for this match was absolutely incredible (stemming all the way back to when Edge first cashed in the MITB on Taker a year before). In addition to that, it was one of the most spectacular matches I have ever seen by two of the best performers of all time. Edge countered every single move that Taker had to offer, and I believed that the streak could really end that night. The entire match was booked perfectly (awesome ending) and executed to perfection.

It's one of my favorite Wrestlemania matches of all time, however I never see it get mentioned among the all time greats.

Edge's pre-match promo and the video package before cemented it's legendary status. If you don't remember these things, look them up. The whole affair was sensational.

I'll never put it up there with an all time great as neither one is a regular performer, but Shane vs Vince in the street fight at Wrestlemania X-Seven was a phenomenal match. The buildup was great leading up to it with the Linda under sedatives and the Vince/Trish affair. The storytelling in the match, to me anyway, was right up there with any match on the card (which says a lot considering how amazing WM17 was) and were it on another WM would get a lot more credit than it does. Says a great deal about those 2 and what they'll do to entertain the fans. And the spots by Shane were awesome and original.

I never see this match mentioned even as one of Vince McMahon's most classic matches, which is unfortunate. There may be others right up there with it for underrated, but for me it's Shane vs Vince at WM17.

LOD 2000 at WM 14 was under rated IMO sure they were a surprise tag-team but when they came out in new body armor & sunny as a manager

To me, the most underrated WrestleMania match was Bret Hart vs Owen Hart at WrestleMania X, I've seen that match a dozen times, there isn't one flaw in that match, 20 minutes of great wrestling from two of the best in ring ever, and the build up to that was great, I think that if Bret didn't have to wrestle twice that night it would have been even better, and there would be no way it went on first. of course it would be overshadowed by that great ladder match that HBK and Razor Ramon had, and the fact that Bret would go on to win the WWF Title later that night.

For me the most underrated match was Edge vs. Foley in a Extreme Rulez match(It was Extreme Rulez not a hardcore match, not a street fight it was Extreme). That matched i believe more "OH MY GOD's" then taker vs. hbk. Plus Foley wrapping himself in barbwire to block a spear was just awesome. Also having Joey Styles and Jim Ross at the announcer's table just made that whole match perfect. The best part of that match was Edge Spearing Foley through a Flamming table, that match was more Hardcore than most of TNA's monster ball matches and it brought back some great memories of ECW. Also it was Foley's first ever wrestle mania moment which was truly special and I will always remember Edge's face after he speared foley and how he was shaking too that match will always be my personal favorite.

Edge/Foley, Edge/Taker, Taker/HHH, HBK/Angle, Savage/Flair, Bret/Owen are all phenomenal picks. All of these were at least 4 star matches that get little to no praise or discussion. It would be tough to pick the most underrated, however the HBK/Angle might be my fave.

I would like to add in Batista/Taker at WM23, Orton/Taker at WM21, Kane/Taker at WM14, HBK/Diesel at WM11 (w/o this match it easily becomes the worst WM ever), Piper/Hart at WM 8, Warrior/Rick Rude at WM 5, but the cake topper is HBK/Y2J at WM19.

This match may or may not be considered underrated to some as it does get brought up from time to time, however with the clinic these two put on, it deserves to be mentioned as often and as highly as Savage/Steamboat at WM3.

The most underrated WrestleMania match of all time is Ultimate Warrior vs. Macho KING Randy Savage. The two had a tremendous match where they not only told a good story but cut a good pace as well in the ring. Keep in mind this is with the Ultimate Warrior in it. There are several things that put this match over the top for me: First, the fact that there was as much drama outside the ring as inside of it as Sherri kept interfering and Elizabeth was sitting at ringside witnessing the whole thing. Secondly, in an era where kicking out of someone's finishing move isn't a big deal, Savage and Warrior made each other by kicking out of the other man's finishing maneuvers (Warrior kicking out after five Savage Elbow Drops is a WrestleMania moment to me). Third, Warrior sold how big the match was the entire time with his entrance, attire, and attitude during the match. Lastly, the sequence after the match with Sherri, Liz, and Savage was pure WWE theatrics (in a good way). Savage goes from being a Macho King to being retired to in the end getting back together with Elizabeth after a two year separation on-screen.

I'm glad to see the match is getting more attention in recent years. Still, however, this match deserves to be mentioned in the upper tier of classic WrestleMania encounters. And most times, it is sadly forgotten.

one of my favorites was benoit/angle/jericho at WM 2000.
a fantastic match featuring some of the best wrestlers of all time

There are a few I can go with that have been mentioned already. A good one was HBK vs Diesel at WM11. Incredible match that should have went on last, not Bam Bam Bigelow and Lawrence Taylor!! This was actually the 1995 match of the year so it did get some recognition, but its hardly ever mentioned by the WWE or on fan lists, and its overshadowed by the match these 2 had the following year at In Your House.

The match I consider as most underrated is Triple H vs Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 18. The biggest reason for this is the match that it followed. WM18 was not a great PPV, but when it got to Rock/Hogan that place went absolutely insane, and remained that way for the entire 25 minute match. Probably one of the loudest reactions to a match of all time. So by the time HHH/Jericho went on, only minutes later, the crowd was burnt.

I feel the match had a pretty good story coming in, with HHH winning the Royal Rumble after missing 7 months due to injury. It also signified the end of the marriage between Triple H & Stephanie, as Steph was in Jericho's corner. I thought Stephanie was great that night, she looked awesome, and her comments and interference throughout the match really helped the drama. Hunter and Jericho put on an awesome, brutal, back & forth match that in the end, ended Jericho's 4 month reign as the companys first undisputed champion.

There is no way you can look at this match as anything but underrated and underappreciated..

Edge/Taker was good, but I personally liked Batista/Taker a little bit more.

I don't think Bret/Owen is underrated. From what I've heard and seen online, the match is almost always mentioned in top 10-15 lists. Although I do see it get overshadowed by the ladder match.

Another honorable mention would be the triple threat World Title match at Wrestlemania 22. I don't know how in the world this match only got 9 minutes. It should have gone AT THE VERY LEAST 15. If they had more time, I think the match itself could have been better than the triple threat match at Wrestlemania 20. Rey and Kurt always had incredible chemistry, and Orton filled in nicely.

I would say wresltemania 2000 hhh vs the rock vs big show vs foley

This match was great. It had 4 of the biggest names in the same match. It had a great storyline with practically everyone one of them fueding with each other. foley finally got his wrestlemania main event. The four mcmahons added a touch of power, and it was the first time that a heel walked out the winner in wrestlemania history for the main event, with a twist ending that is only surpassed by the obviously shocking rock vs austin the next year. Absolutely golden in my opinion.

Randy Orton vs The Undertaker at WM21. Definately a completely underrated match and doesn't get enough shine. Verrrry good match, probably the closest I've been to thinking that the streak would end. Entertaining as hell, and the interference of Cowboy Bob had me thinking it was over and the streak would be finished with a screw job.

It was even better because Orton was booked as someone who could legit be the guy to end the streak. It would've fitted him perfectly and would've skyrocketed him and his character. Great suspense and drama in the match. Unfortunately, Cena-JBL and HBK-Angle were great matches and overshadowed it. Shame.

This is a thread where none of the posters can really be wrong or right. It is clearly just opinionated. So I will have to go with Hart/Piper. Tremendous match between friends. Had a little bit of everything and to me really helped propel Hart into the upper echelon of main eventers. With that being said, the Angle/HBK match was pretty good but they barely ever talk about Piper/Harts match..honorable mention I will honor the late Savage and throw he and Warriors career ending match in there strickly bc it was such a gimmicky match ending in Savage and Liz back together.

I have two. The first:

X-pac vs Shane Mcmahon (WM XV)- the storyline was pretty good. You had X-Pac (the degenerate) feuding with Shane 'O Mac(the boss's son, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth) over the European Championship. Then, Shane has his boys, The Mean Street Posse, jump X-pac. Plus, the ending when HHH turns on DX after coming back earlier that night was crazy. But the match over all was pretty straight.

Number 2:

William Regal vs Chris Jericho (WM X-SEVEN) - The curtain jerker of possibly the greatest WM of all the times(Santino pun). The IC championship on the line, two of the finest, most technical submission wrestlers duking it out in a fairly descent match! The storyline was pretty cool, with Y2J peeing in Regal's coffee. Highly underrated!

One of my favorite "big man" matches was at Wrestlemania 12. Undertaker vs Diesel. The chemistry was there, and heck, it actually appeared that Taker could lose.

I also completely agree with Bret vs Owen. One of my personal favorites.

WrestleMania 12, Undertaker/Diesel.
Two big guys only ever wrestled ONCE I could be wrong but I don't believe they ever faced each other on TV and I know they didn't on any other PPV, House Shows aren't included.

WrestleMania 14, Undertaker/Kane.
This is the first and only time I've ever believed Undertaker would job @ Mania, plus the match was pretty hard hitting and fun.

WrestleMania 17, Hardcore Championship Raven/Big Show/Kane.
Watch it, quiet possibly the best hardcore match that happened once the 24/7 rule was in effect.

I'm gonna have to go with Special Delivery Jones v King Kong Bundy at Mania I. I know it's an unconventional pick, but these two chain wrestling technicians put on a clinic in this bout of epic proportions, which for some unknown reason has gone largely unnoticed and unappreciated for the last 27 years.

Okay fine, that's actually not my first pick for most underrated ;-)

How about Matt Hardy vs Rey Mysterio at XIX. It was only a 5 minute match, but it was really solid bell to bell, a strong opener to what I think is one of the best Manias of all time, the two of them just worked really well together. Matt was unfortunately at what turned out to be the peak of his WWE singles career, and Rey was much younger, faster, and in better shape, making his Wrestlemania debut. They were both really tight in the ring with a lot of close finishes and well performed spots. It's hardly a classic, but if you go back and review it, definitely an under-appreciated Mania match, and better than half the card at this year's Mania (not that that says much).

Im going to say Macho man vs Crush at wrestlemania 10. I dont remember what kind of match it was i think it was a falls count anywhere but you had to make it back to the ring or someshit.. but the match was pretty cool

Savage v Warrior WM7
Edge v Foley WM 22 Big Time
Rey v Angle v Orton WM 22 Big Time
Bret v Piper WM 8
Flair v Savage WM 8
Yoko v Luger WM X
Taka Michinoku v Auguila WM 14
Eddie v Rey WM 21

These matches do not get the credit they deserve and each one was highly entertaining. Some of these are historic as WWE cannot recreate those moments (esp.Savage/Warrior and Edge/Foley)

I am going to possibly regret this but I am going with Goldberg vs Lesnar

To me the match was really good and was glossed over by a lot of people due to the story around it and it being both of their last match...

Am I completely off with this one? feel free to let me know...

ima have 2 go with wrestlemina 10 bret heart vs owen heart that match was so hot yet no one ever talks about that match at all y is that?

ima have 2 go with wrestlemina 10 bret heart vs owen heart that match was so hot yet no one ever talks about that match at all y is that?

Probably due to the WWE not mentioning Owen pretty much at all since his death (that and the not Vince/Bret issues of the past).

To me, the most underrated Wrestlemania match ever is HBK vs Vince at Mania 22. Yes, it did win MOTY that year, and it was probably undeserved as there were much better matches that year, but because it won MOTY there is a huge backlash against this match. Everytime I hear someone talk about this match it is always about how it was shit and it should never have won any awards and so on and so forth. No, it shouldn't have won anything, but it was certainly not a shit match either. It was actually a highly entertaining contest that saw Vince get his ass beat very very badly. IMO, there are three non-wrestlers in history that everytime you get to watch them get their ass kicked it is automatically a great match: Bobby Heenan, Vince McMahon, and now Michael Cole (unless it is for the 4th time in a matter of months, then it just loses its charm). So yeah, while not an all time classic, I definitely feel like this match entertained, which is what wrestling is all about.

Im going to say Macho man vs Crush at wrestlemania 10. I dont remember what kind of match it was i think it was a falls count anywhere but you had to make it back to the ring or someshit.. but the match was pretty cool

This was actually one of my choices so I'm going to elaborate on it further.

This match had awesome build up and I believe was one of Savage's last matches in the WWE. The storyline went something like this: Crush turned his back on Savage because Yokozuna banzaii dropped him like 7 times or something ridiculous and Savage didn't come to his aid? I never knew they were friends in the first place looking back, but at the time it didn't matter because heels were heels and faces were faces and the two sides were friendly with eachother and hell bent on stopping the other side..

Anyways the match was set for, if I'm not mistaken, the first ever Falls Count Anywhere match in the WWE. Of course it was a lot different than what a lot of you probably know as a typical Falls Count Anywhere match you'd see today. In 1994 once you earned a fall on the outside, your opponent had until a count of 10 to make it back into the ring. In retrospect I'm glad this aspect of the match has faded away but for the one time it was pretty cool. After what was a pretty decent brawl for 1994, the end of the match had Savage tying up Crush backstage with some kind of cable rendering him unable to return to the ring.

I think if nothing else this match is legendary because it truly was ahead of it's time. This would eventually lead to the likes of Benoit vs. Sullivan over in WCW, the future Hardcore division and perhaps even the foundations of the evolution of ECW? That maybe far-fetched, but if you watch this match you'll see what I'm talking about.
