What is going on with MVP?

Getting Noticed By Management
I thought he couldn't be in a worse spot after his losing streak on Smackdown. I thought he couldn't be in a worse spot after moving to raw and turning face. For a bit there, i thought his momentum would pick up with his feud with Miz for the US title, and it would have been a good feud, but for some reason they cut it short. Now ever since then hes been moving down the roster, being placed in jobber matches, hell this past smackdown he was teamed with masters and JTG and fed to the SES. what exactly is the reason for this sudden drop in position for MVP? I dont think he should be main eventing, but he should definitiely be feuding for a US or IC title.

He's been well and truly lost in the shuffle. He's not the greatest wrestler but he's got good mic skills so he's kind of out of place on SD! and they already have their own plans regarding several wrestlers, etc. and when he got 'drafted' back onto the SD! that was probably what's kept him in the company.

Atm he couldn't work with the big guys on SD and isn't over enough for Raw. Right now there's also a big push for younger stars and of course that means he's going down but soon enough he'll come back up - hopefully as a heel.

MVP is starting to fade away into obscurity, and it doesn't surprise me at all. He's as overrated as they come. His mic skills aren't all that good, and his matches are usually terrible. The match he had with Gallows a while back on Smackdown was an abomination. I don't think MVP should be in the hunt for the Intercontinental Championship. Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, and Rey Mysterio would all be better choices for Intercontinental champion, and with more time, I believe Cody Rhodes could be worthy of wearing the IC title.

Quite frankly, MVP just isn't worth anything to the company anymore. Back in 2007, he was actually pretty good. He had some good matches with Benoit, won the U.S title and had a fairly interesting feud with Matt Hardy, even if it did go on a bit. Fast forward to today however, and it's no surprise that MVP is where he is. His matches are mostly forgettable and he just doesn't seem to have that spark he did back in 2007.

I'll admit the face turn probably has a lot to do with that, but the problem is that even if turned heel now, it wouldn't matter because no cares about him enough to take any notice. Mitch is right when he points out who deserves a mid card title reign more than MVP, and I would add Christian, McIntyre and Matt Hardy to list too. Also, when you consider he is in his late thirties, he is more useful putting over younger guys with more talent and brighter futures.

What is going on with MVP? Nothing much, that's for sure. To me, the only time he showed any real promise was when he first debuted on Smackdown. He had a decent feud with Kane, an excellent feud with Chris Benoit and an enjoyable program with tag partner, Matt Hardy.

However, since he went on that terrible losing streak, I don't think he's ever recovered. People say losing streaks can always be recovered from, but I think MVP is an example that this isn't always the case...oh and not to forget, he's not that great a face, MVP is just one of those guys who is made to be a heel I think.

MVP has never really garnered any sustained 'pops', in fact, at times it seems as if he's just desperate for the crowd to react at all. However, I like the guy, I think he has talent, he can talk and is charismatic...he just really needs to be heel again but as Smackdown is already quite packed with heels, it ain't likely to occur soon. Sad really...

What's going on with MVP as of late? Nothing. Why? Because like Carlito and others before. He just doesn't care.

MVP started off on fire in WWE. He was pushed to the moon almost instantly in WWE having his first match on PPV. He entered a feud with Kane which got him over rather quickly and culminated in a rather entertaining inferno match. He was still a rather bad wrestler but soon enough he began getting trained by Benoit while simultaneously feuding with him which was very entertaining and put on several good matches including a good two out of three falls match. He then had interesting feuds over the US title with Kane, Ric Flair, Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio.

Soon he entered a rather dull losing streak where he lost about 15 straight matches which had him turn face and win the United States title from Shelton Benjamin in a rather dull and forgttable feud. He was drafted to RAW where most of the IWC expected him to be in the main event but that didn't happen. Instead MVP lost the title to Kofi Kingston and formed a lame jobber team with Mark Henry and slowly depleted into the midcard and lower midcard.

MVP has said he smokes pot which is clearly the reason why his push was lost. He is now 36 and won't be going anywhere because he is too old to be pushed and is barely entertainging anymore. He is going to be used to put younger people over and prep them for the main event scene which he will never go. It has been said he never cared about where his career went and he thought as long as he was put on PPV he is fine well now he is not and his career looks to be in some serious danger. Frankly i feel he was overatted and his promos were only decent on the level of those such as Matt Hardy and didn't deserve the rub he recieved on numerous occasions.

He is moving down the card where I think he belongs. He is nothing special in the ring or on the mic so I see no reason why he should be in any better position than he currently is.

I'm continually amazed at how people will ALWAYS blame the worker and never the writer.

Personally, I think the babyface turn could've worked, but it was botched horrendously. MVP doesn't have horribly awful matches, either. It's not like he's Lacey Von Erich or something.

I honestly believe that WWE Creative just flat out sucks and have stopped trying with him, even though part of their job is to create things for the guys and girls to do.

Another factor hurting MVP: PG Era.

In 2007, he was on fire. He was in fueds with Benoit and Flair. But once the PG era started to take hold in 2008, he career and momentum started to fizzle out. Wrestlers from this point on werent allowed to say this or do that, and that definitely hurt MVP's character. Portraying a thug, he has to do more than just wrestle, he has to act like a thug and talk like a thug. With the E going PG, this was not going to continue.

Then they turn him face to talk about how he was in jail for 10 years or something like that, sort of like "hey kids dont do drug and stay in school" lecturing crap that no one gave a shit about. That didnt click with anyone.

Then, they tag him with "The Worlds Greatest Bore" Mark Henry Mr. Koolaid himself.

Both wearing that ugly red attire, and getting their asses kicked on a weekly basis.

Its over for him.

What? WWE didn't drop the ball on MVP. They gave him enough chances.

Personally, I think the babyface turn could've worked, but it was botched horrendously.

How? Coming off of a major feud with HHH, MVP got a shot at then WWE champion Randy Orton. MVP just isn't a main event worthy guy.

Well, if they aren't horribly and awful(and they are sometimes) then they sure as hell aren't good or decent. His matches can be mediocre or just bad. Please tell me the last time MVP had a good match?

I honestly believe that WWE Creative just flat out sucks and have stopped trying with him, even though part of their job is to create things for the guys and girls to do.

Maybe they've stopped trying because he just isn't that good? Maybe he's going to be stuck where he's at for a while? Yes. WWE creative's job is to create things for guys and girls to do. And they're doing that for people like Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggelr, you know, guys who need and deserve the pushes.

simple reason. He sucks. He has not done anything at all memorable except his matches with benoit which will never be remembered. Hes just another version of shelton benjamin and carlito who the IWC jacks off to for no apparent reason at all. MVP has not been relevant in god knows how long if he ever was. I didnt consider him lasting at all when he debuted. When he won the US title I was the only one who thought that that would be the only thing he will get. And guess what happened? thats all he has under his belt (no pun intended). Hes just another stereo type the WWE made a gimmick off of like cryme tyme. A black guy who thinks he is better then everyone and a "baller"

Hello, nice to meet someone who makes sense for once.

They gave him a loosing streak and a crappy face turn.End of story.

MVP came off as such a natural heel,it sucked to see him turn face, but it wasn't his decision to make unfortunately. It was the bookers or the writers or whatever WWE creative wants to be called these days. How Dolph Ziggler is any better than MVP I'll never know. After being moved to Smackdown, they simply forgot about him.

Now don't get me wrong,I'm not saying MVP is the greatest ever or anything,or that he should be pushed over Ziggler,Christian,or Mcintyre.I just feel he's a good performer, and he should be pushed ALONG WITH those other three I mentioned.

But hey,I guess good and decent aren't good enough for the fickle IWC.:disappointed:
