What Has Happened To Cody Rhodes?

At Wrestlemania 28, Cody Rhodes walked in as the wrestler to hold the IC title for the 10th-longest reign.
He walked out title-less after receiving a WMD from the Big Show.
The past two weeks on SD! Cody has jobbed due to Show walking in and playing the WMD clip from Mania.
In everyone else's opinions, I have two questions:
1.) Why has this happened to CR?
2.) What will happen in the future?
To start, I will attempt to answer and say that, as said in a previous thread, the UN-dashing gimmick ended too soon, and now that Rhodes is becoming generic, he is no longer holding said IC title.
That, and also, Big Show needed his FIRST Mania singles win...
IMO, I see Rhodes building up from this and feuding for the WHC in the future, I hope and pray...
Cody is my favorite SD! star now, and I don't want to see such talent go to waste...
Your thoughts?

Oh, God... here we go...

Stop the press!! Cody Rhodes lost two matches in the past 10 months!! Let the "CODY RHODEZ IZ BEING BURIED" threads begin!! Come on, guys...

His losses for the past few weeks were as a result of Big Show's interference. It's obvious that this feud will continue (at least until Extreme Rules) and then Cody will move onto something else. But just because he lost a few matches doesn't mean we need a discussion in precaution or fear of Cody losing his upper-midcard spot.

I can tell you this much; the guy is not ready for the world title picture yet. Right now, there are solid (short and long-term) feuds happening with a returning Alberto Del Rio and former world heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan right now. There really isn't room for Cody at the moment and too many others that are next on the pecking order behind Bryan and Del Rio for world title shots. Cody will continue to be one of the top, midcard features for a while until a few others move out of the way. But let's not over-analyze these recent losses of his. Everyone needs to lose once in a while... especially after 10 months.

Cody Rhodes will be fine. He still has a program with the Big Show and that's more than can be said for Kingston and Truth. The losses are just a way of emphasising that Show is getting into Cody's head.

His title reign had to end eventually, and in any case, the prestige of the IC belt has diminished massively. Show hasn't even mentioned that he won the belt (he just drapes it over his shoulder like something he's forgotten) and Cody used it as more of a centrepiece rather than something he defended regularly.

I'm sure he's lost in the last 10 months? Twice to Orton if I believe, which were strangely set up as non-title matches without actual mention. Just shows again that the title wasn't all that important.

I agree with D-Man that he's not positioned to head into the main event yet, and this is nothing to worry about. He's only 26, which is really young for a guy on the roster these days, especially considering what he's achieved already. They're taking their time with Rhodes and it's the right thing to do.

The only thing that has disappointed me about CR lately is that promo he did before the rumble in which he claimed he'll hold the IC title and WHC at the same time. I thought and felt that the WWE could do something really really cool with that but instead we got the great white winning the rumble and an 18 second match.

I hope Cody does go for the big one soon, this big feud is pointless IMO.

So you have a problem with Cody Rhodes fueding with a Main Eventer? Would you rather have him fueding with mid-carders then? This is his chance to prove he can hang with the main eventers and to see if he is ready to tale the next step. Just because you lose a match doesn't mean you are being buried and if that was the case the the face of the company is being buried because he lost a match at WM.

People need to look at the big picture instead of thinking who wins the matches actually matters.

Totally NOT what I meant. But what I did mean is that this feud with Show is pointless, in that, as Isaac said, Show shows (ha-ha) no sentimental value in his newly-claimed IC belt. If he is to feud with a champion, should the title NOT be involved?
Also, I never said CR was being buried. I am just curious as to how this is all going to play out in the long run. I merely asked for opinions, not to be criticized as if I am a grass-green mark of a jobber.
As an independent circuit wrestler who recently returned to his company (kayfabe), I know it will all work out, but I merely asked others for their opinions on how.
For the record, this is my first thread, and if I am being misunderstood, then I sincerely apologize.

Agreed. It furthers the story for a while longer which is good. Hopefully Cody will get pushed into the main event after this.

His title reign had to end eventually, and in any case, the prestige of the IC belt has diminished massively. Show hasn't even mentioned that he won the belt (he just drapes it over his shoulder like something he's forgotten) and Cody used it as more of a centrepiece rather than something he defended regularly.

The IC belt's prestige has diminished massively? Cody has done wonders for that belt. Show hasn't mentioned it because its still extremely fresh in our minds... (its only been 2 weeks) Cody took the title seriously. Something that hadn't been done in a long time...

Yeah, he lost. It happens. I do believe you're correct on it.

I also have to agree but I'd still give him a chance to see if he could do anything in the main event. He doesn't need to grab the title yet. He is still young and can do good things. His push has been slow which has worked out well. Wish others could have the same...

As I mentioned to rage72, my intention was not to start a CR is being buried thread, but to see opinions from others on how it will play out. If I was misunderstood, I apologize.
At any rate, CR HAS lost in this 10-month tenure, three times (not twice) to Orton (with no mention of the IC title), as Isaac pointed out, as well as other matches, mainly house show matches against Daniel Bryan.
Am I saying CR shouldn't lose? No. I just wanted people's opinions on how these losses will play out.

I agree with you completely about Cody. Him and Dolph are my favorite guys on the roster right now and how they are being used is really irritating. Dolph losing to Brodus Clay(AKA Godfather 2) and Cody and Big Show. Selfishly, I would rather have a Cody feud with a talented mid-card guy because I hate Big Show and his matches are brutal to watch. I get the point about Big Show being a top guy, but is he really anymore? The IC title should be for up and coming guys, not for broken down "has beens". Just thinking about how much some of these guys getting pushed suck makes me sick. For goodness sakes, Big Show's finisher is a punch! However, as much as I love Cody and guys like him, I must say there is no way he is ready for a main title push. I just don't want real talent to be buried in favor of talentless hacks.

Cody is at the mercy of WWE creative, this is the most unfortunate aspect of his career. Sometimes they come up with an idea that looked like shit (even on paper) and run with it.

Unless they're about to have him beat Big Show at Extreme Rules, I see no point in making him job every week. Even if that was the plan, it was fucking stupid to have Big Show roll a clip of himself rolling a clip. Sometimes stupidity is funny in a good way, lookup Osirian Portal for that. WWE creative is making me not want to see a Cody Show segment.

Man, it's called Karma. You know, the thing that happens when you do bad things to people then it comes back on you? Yeah that's whats is going on with him. He will get rematch at ER, lose and then move to the WHC. I like his gimmick, think he's very good in the ring, and i think he is fully ready to be in contention for the WHC. Although, i wish it was against DB, but I don't see either turning anytime soon. Who believes CR could beat sheamus?

LOL, chill mon frere, Cody is doing fine more than fine he's being pushed correctly and Big Show is getting Cody over perfectly it's common knowledge Cody didn't need the IC title any more so don't worry, I'd imagine Cody will some how get the upper hand in a non-title bout and move on and Big Show will get his chance to put someone over in the mid card for the IC title.

I agree with the general consesus of this thread: Cody's fine. Every superstar goes through a losing streak. It's part of being a wrestler and "paying your dues". It also helps suspension of disbelief; just not believable if someone keeps winning all the time (coughcenamysteriocough)

Sounds more like the WHC-picture isn't ready for Cody. I think the guy definitely has all the skills required for a good WHC run, but I agree that he's got several guys ahead of him. Both title-pictures are just too convoluted right now; theres just no room for Cody. Hopefully Cody gets a WHC run sometime next year. Just keep him on SD because if he goes to RAW I can easily see him getting lost into obscurity.
