What ever happened to managers?

What ever happened to WWE Managers, like Bobby "the Brain" Heenan, Stu Hart, Paul Bearer etc.?

I think the last manager I saw was Vickie Guerrero when she Managed Eric Escobar for that very brief Period. She would be the perfect Manager for any young rising superstar i.e Dolph Ziggler, Vickie has the Power and the know how to really give a superstar the push they need. Oh I almost forgot there is Ranjin Singh, but to be honest I haven't seen him do much more than translate.

So my question is this;

Do you think it's time to brought back Managers?
Who do you Think would make a Great Manager?
Who do you think needs a Manager Most?

Aside from Vickie I think a HOF'r like Ted DiBiase would be good, Managing his son or the sometime in the near future the fortune sons faction, Ted DiBiase Jr. is defently Main Event Material, but has somewhat lost his way and lost some momentum in recent months and the copying his dad gimmick doesn't seem to be getting him anywhere.

Well, Managers are definitely a lost art in Pro Wrestling, Ranjin Singh hardly does anything, but Vickie is a damn good manager, she brings heat to the heel wrestlers, it is nearly Impossible to hear what she says, and she gets heat when she even looks at her "boyfriend" weirdly, the crowd go nuts.
I don't think they should bring old managers, if they do, they are no better than TNA, what they need are wrestlers that suck, but are good on the mic, take matt stryker for instance, as a wrestler, he sucked, but he would, and has proven that he is a good manager. Another good manager is William Regal, most of the time, he would be the manager of a monster heel (a la Kozlov or Jackson) I think he would do well as a manager of someone along the lines of them, monster heels who aren't very good on the mic.
I think a guy like Kozlov needs a manager, not at the moment though, in this angle with Santino, if they become a tag team, there is no need, Santino, will basically be a manager to kozlov. So on that note, I really don't think anybody desperatelyh needs a manager at the moment.

The problem with managers is that you have to pay them. The WWE has gone over a decade without managers, probably right after the Hogan era, and vince feels that superstars are being paid well these days and should be able to handle the mic.

You give a wrestler a manager when they lack the microphone skills (or have microphone skills that aren't quite as hot as their manager) and you want to get him over for the crowd. The Great Khali got a manager because the Dub was horny as hell to get a star over in South Asia- and, for what it's worth, it worked. Of course, then they realized he could barely walk to the ring, but that's neither here nor there.

Now, wrestlers are expected to have those mic skills built in. It's no longer enough to be a mute 300 pound giant; you've got to be expressive, too. These days, managerships are temporary things, like Vickie Guerrero passing off some of the extra heat she has to stars who desperately need it. There are no more Jim Cornette managerial roles in wrestling, because the end effects of that are adding an extra paycheck and preventing a wrestler from sinking or swimming on his own, as will inevitably happen when the manager/wrestler partnership is broken up.

Without a doubt, Ric Flair in TNA would be / is an awesome manager because he has the Mic skills. The manager went away when the old "locker room" interviews went away and that's a shame because that was part of the build up for feuds and the back story. Sgt. Slaughter or any of the older WWE guys would be good to see.
