I work at Currys.digital. For those of you not UK based it's an electrical retailer and the bane of my existance.
Thankfully, I'm also the singer of 'Laid Wasted' (we're a metal band for those of you unaware of my preferences), so i have an appropriate outlet for my never ending rage. We've only played one gig so far which was last month at The Joiners in Southampton. It's a very well known venue in the area. Bands like Oasis, Nirvana, Franz Ferdinand, Murder One, Kings Of Leon etc have all played there in the past and we got a fair bit of positive feedback from just about everyone there. Most people refused to believe that that was the first time we'd played live together, and in my case, the first time i'd sung live EVER! (In a metal band anyway, i've sang in front of people countless times, even on TV in an unrehearsed spot when promoting a performance piece i was involved in.)
Our next one's in 2 weeks at another well known venue in Southampton called the Talking Heads, and in April we'll be playing down the Firehouse, Southampton where Onslaught Radio will apparently be covering the event, so
We do mostly our own material, only having covered 'Bound To Violence' and 'Smash Your Enemies' by Hatebreed, and are currently working on a cover of 'Severed' by Chimaira.
I'm sure you don't need me to point it out, but a fair few of my lyrics are comic book based such as 'Anti-Life', 'Zur-En-Arrh', 'I.V.' and 'Hope Stealer'.
I'm currently writing a song based on Lex Luthor's hatred of Superman. It's called 'The God I Live To Kill'.
Anyway, i like to think of my band as my real job and Currys as a means to make money while we try and get as far as we can with the band. They're likely to sack me in the next month or so and i honestly couldn't care less.
