What do u all think of Taylor Swift

I've talked about this else where at another forum and most seem to think she is only popular because she looks good. She does look good but I think she is popular for the fact she is talented, she doesn't go around making the mistakes other famous people her age are making, she cares for fans, she doesn't think all high and mighty of herself and knows she is lucky to be where she is today.

I think when it comes to you thinking someone is good or not all goes by the music you like. If you like rap you will think certain rappers are good but people who don't will not really. I mean I love country(new and old) and rock(new and old) so when it comes to if I think someone is good I can judge from that better. Now I'm mainly asking the people who listen to country if you think she is as popular as she is based on her looks or the fact she is talented. Others can answer also.

Admittedly, I'm a fan of a few of her songs. It's not necessarily my style, but you can't deny talent when you hear it. She's definitely beautiful, and could've gone so many different directions with her life.

I wouldn't consider her one of the best country artists of all-time, or pop artists. She's a good crossover, and has a squeaky clean image that is good for her industry. Country music has slowly been creeping into the spotlight over the last few years, and with that, everything gets put under a microscope. Keith Urban is widely considered among the best in country today, but he's already gotten a DUI, and tarnished his image. Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks had a war of words that could've done some good for their business, but they made it ugly, and neither has acheived the hieghts they were before that debacle.

Taylor Swift doesn't have that. The worst she's been involved in, is typical teeny-bopper tabloid drama on "Is she dating the Jonas Brother, or not?". Nothing bad, and nothing anyone really cares about. If she can keep her look, and keep putting out music like she has, there's no reason for her to not stay on top of the charts for the next few years.

See this is why I love this place. Your not really a fan of hers but you admit her talent. People here seem to be more open minded then other places I've been. I'm one of the people who can also admit when people I don't even care for have talent. You named Keith Urban. He is very talented and real good on guitar but meh none of his songs are really songs I listen to. But yeah thanks for your opinion.

My current best thing in Country music. Fact. Taylor Swift is amazing to me, and almost every one of her song's (that's been a nationally known song, that is) has been great to listen to.

Her duet with Def Leppard was amazing on CMT's Crossroads. I think she has a very big down-side though, and that's her openly admitting that she mainly only gets her song writing ability from personal real-life issues. Mainly, a lot of them having to deal with boys and teenage problems in relation to boys and relationships. That is gonna get old, as noone wants to hear 400 songs about roughly the same thing. (well, I take part of that back, several hundred, if not thousand, of lonely teens will listen over and over)

I firmly admit that when I seen Crossroads, with Swift & Leppard combined, it brought back a whole new love for Def Leppard to me. All because of how great they sounded, with her. In other words, it was her voice, that truly made me relove a lot of their songs. This one, especially.

White Horse is her newest hit, and it's been a song I've played a lot recently. I have no clue why, other than to say it actually is just a very great song in general.

I heard the story behind this song, is actually in part to her break-up with someone, in which the guy did it over the phone because he couldn't face her to do it. Well, duh. Why the fuck would you ever want to break up with Taylor Swift in the first place? She has an amazing body, a great voice, and seems like a wonderful Female in general. That guy must've been a complete dick.

In actuality, barring a couple lyric changes, I'm sure I could fit this song to be about someone from my past. Sad thing is, I'm sure it'd hurt just the same.

The final video I have, is actually the duet version she did with Def Leppard, followed by the video version by herself. The reason I have two of the same song, is because I wanted to show how expressive and passionate she gets involved with her music.

This video, the Def Leppard version, shows her toward the final bits of the song, truly getting so wrapped into it.. that each time she hits the final bit, when she drops to her knees (taken as seriously as possible, thank you) it gives me goosebumps everytime.

All in all, I think she's gonna become a big success in the Country/Alternative music industry. A lot of people may not come to like her greatly, because she doesn't fit the "older school" type of Country music, but in this day and age of singers, outside of one or two individuals who truly does anymore.

Taylor Swift falls into am awkward position for me. She's not exactly old-school country, which is the only kind I openly admit to liking. On the other hand, she's not a glorified "pop-star" like the girls from the 90's and early 00's.
Yes, I will listen to her, in small doses, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to by her records. Nor will I deny her talent, and usually if I don't like a genre, I will deny any artist involved.

It also doesn't hurt her case that she's very beautiful.

I love White Horse. I was watching when it debut on CMT just like I was for Love Story. But I didn't know Love Story was gonna premiere until it happened.

But I'm calling it now within the next 5 years she will be one of if not the biggest star in all of music. Already Fearless has been the number one cd for 11 weeks and idk it might just get back up there.

Yeah. Most people just seem to dislike her from what I've seen cause of either 2 reasons.

1. She is a country star so they just say she has no talent cause they hate country.
2.Some of the old school country fans just don't like her cause of her being new school country.

Your one of the few old school country peeps that will admit her talent.

I never use to like the twat. I liked Our Song alot but something about her bugged the hell out of me. Probably because she is so much more sucessful then Kellie Pickler(who I love). But I have changed my tune about her.

While she still isn't a personal fave, I have to admit she is the "it" girl of music right now. Her new album "Fearless" spent 12(or 11 or 13, I forget at this moment) weeks(non-consecutive) at #1. It has already sold over 3 million copies and it just got released in November. She had a #1 song on country and pop radio(Love Story)which is really rare. Right now shes a selling machine. I also have to give her credit for writing her own songs and playing her own inturments(even though her voice is weak)and she's actually a great role model.

But the main thing that made me sorta like her was her new song "Your not sorry" the CSI remix(Which is on ITUNEs and I reconmend people to get it). It's not country at all, and is pure pop. The new remix is awesome and one of my favorite songs right now and has helped me like her. I think this girl has a long career ahead of her, and since she appeals to both country and pop fans, I think she could be a huge star.

I love the remix. Possibly the first time I liked a remix better then the original song. Oh and you got it right with 11 weeks. She just tears up the charts and I really can see this album being close to going Diamond by the end of the year. I mean Fearless as you said came out in Nov.(November 11, 2008) by February 17, 2009 it was already triple platinum. That is only three months. If the CD keeps selling as good as it is this CD will be one of the top selling CD's in awhile.

This is from wiki and I know most things there are edited but this is true. Fearless has already been deemed one of the fastest selling country albums of all time. I was hoping her tour stopped closer to me then ATL. I might try to get up there. Her Kellie Pickler and a new group called Gloriana should make for a good show.

Ummm there is no way, she's going to go diamond. An album hasn't went diamond in the states since Usher's "Confessions" album in 2004. But she should at least sell 5 Million(and in this day and age that's amazing).

And yes her album is one of the fastest selling country albums in a while and her sales are down right great, but she was definitley helped by the christmas season. Also she has an advantage of sorts since she appeals to both pop and country audiences. But with trying to please both country and pop fans can be risky, but Taylor has done it so far with ease. She's crossing over like Faith and Shania use to.

As for her current tour, I would love to go just to see Kellie Pickler, but Taylor has a weak voice and I don't really care for it, unless it's been run through studio mixers.

Well it might go diamond one day. I mean her first CD still sells well and I think is still in the top 10 on the country album charts. I know it seems impossible but think about it. Another CD is gonna probably go diamond one day. Just because its not been done in awhile does not mean it won't happen.

Taylor Swift is an amazing singer. She's very talented. She has the voice and the writing ability and that is what I think makes her successful and popular. Her looks may be a part of it, but not the main factor. She also started writing her songs at a very young age. So intelligence is a big factor too.

Even though I don't listen to country. I'll admit that she is really hot, she's talented & intelligent & within probably the next 3-5 years she will be one of the top players in the music industry.

Yeah and whats so funny about it to me is that I also predict the people I've saw around other place(mainly music places) hating on her will probably try to say there a fan of hers and have been since day one. I for one have been a fan of hers since she first debut with Tim Mcgraw and haven't stopped being one since. But yeah I can't wait for her next CD already to hear more of her great music. I heard its over half way finished.
