What did you study/What are you studying in College/University?

I'll have completed my Eletronics and Communications engineering degree by the end of May. I'll probably go for a masters degree after that probably in Microelectronics but I haven't really decided on the field for my masters degree as of yet.

I study film. An impulsive choice and one I'm regretting. I hate university but I don't really have anything better to do in my life so I'll be doing something else after I've completed this one. Likely forensic science because I want to go in that nice new building they're, ummm, building.

BA (Hons) in Theatre and Professional Practice that I finished last academic year. As well as acting, we looked at everything involved in running a theatre company, devising theatre, directing, using scripts, writing our own, adapting projects (for example, I adapted the Incredible Hulk into a radio play), touring theatre, different styles of acting/performing, and making set/costume as well as the technical stuff like lighting, sound, stage management etc.

Was a toss-up between that (Theatre/Drama was my favorite subject) or Media (the subject I was slightly better at) and I went with the one I enjoyed more but was least likely to land me a job other than in either Teaching or setting up my own Theatre company. Luckily, I wanna be a teacher, so soon I'll be taking a Post Grad Certificate in Education, though I do want to take a masters at some point.

BA in Journalism, in National University of Ireland, which is luckily situated in my home county. It was what I wanted to do, however its not really grasped onto me as I wished. I've made some money out of it already, I write articles for an Irish sports news site and I've had a few pieces posted in local city newspapers, earned a bit of cash off it but not too much. Assignments have been my biggest fall, I've procrastinated in every which way I could, and tomorrow I'll have to do several assignments for Monday morning and then I also have to go working in a newspaper which shall be great fun -- detect the sarcasm.

Chances are I'll drop it and transfer to another course. Currently IT is peaking my interest due to the money to be made in it, Health and Nutrition is another one for whatever reason and lastly Film and Television. I'd have to change college for Film and TV but this is all if I flunk first year. Drinking my ass off hasn't gone as well as I was hoping for.

You remind me of me when i did IT last year. A piece of advice, don't do IT just because of the money. That was the only reason i did it and i hated it. I was missing assignments and just going out all the time instead since i had no interest in what i was doing.

Also if you change course and have a grant it will get suspended for a year, that along with having to pay 5500 euro in fees for your first year really hits the wallet hard. Basically id advise you to think really hard about which course you want to do.

I don't get a grant, even though I should, which already made this year hard. In retrospect what I wish I had done is a PLC, because going from doing a PLC to a college course is cheaper than going from Leaving Cert to College. Also a PLC would have allowed me to have fun for a year, instead of this crap.

Oh and nice signature, love football. Hate hurling, more for personal reasons. I especially hate the Galway hurling team.

I studied BA (Hons) Media Studies for a couple of years at University and graduated with a first in July. Did 2 years of a TV production course at college beforehand so I jumped straight into 3rd year at Uni which was cool.

What do the abreviations mean Barby?

My 'Gap year' has turned into a 'Gap 3+ years'. I was contemplating midwifery but my current job is telling me that would likely be a mistake. I would love to study Sociology but what can you do with that, really? Basically, I have no idea what to do with my life.

Yeah i wouldn't have minded doing a PLC myself but my parents never saw it as an option. If i had done a PLC in computers i would have realised it wasn't for me without all the extra expense that comes for changing course. PLC's get a bad rep here for no reason. My neighbour did a PLC for a year got used to college life without big fees and was able to hold down a part time job for that year. Shes now in her 2nd year in manooth doing History and Geography and doesn't regret it one bit.

Not a big hurling man myself im pretty sure Leitrim doesn't even have a hurling team. Going to college in Galway ive grown to hate Galway hurling fans though, especially the ones that wear Galway hurling jerseys in nightclubs. :disappointed:

I'm currently working on my 2 year business degree. I plan on staying in retail for a short while. If I enjoy what I do over a period of a lifetime then I'll have no regrets in staying in retail.

However, I doubt I will want to stay in retail forever to be entirely honest. Management experience and a 2 year business degree never looks bad on a resume no matter what I choose to do.
