Week 6: Lee -versus- Milkyway!

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
Could someone have taken Hogan’s spot during Hulkamania

Milkyway! is the home debater, he gets to choose which side of the debate he is on first, but he has 24 hours.

Remember to read the rules. This thread is only for the debaters.

This round ends Friday 1:00 pm Pacific

I'll be arguing that no man could have replaced Hulk Hogan. Lee, will be making the opening arguement. (We do have to use wrestlers of that era correct?)

Could someone have taken Hogan’s spot during Hulkamania? The answer is simply YES, his name was Hulk Hogan. One assumes one means Could someone ELSE have taken Hogan’s spot during Hulkamania? Again that is a very simple YES, lets have a brief gander to get the proverbial ball rolling then shall we?

The starts

Here we have Hogan as a heel picking a fight with non other than HOFer Tony Atlas, here was the guy who has been argued to be the original Hulkster, he had the muscles and the charisma, but drug problems led to him being wished well in future endeavours.

Overshadowing

During Hulkamania it was essentially Hogan v mega heels such as Andre the Giant, Rowdy Roddy Piper and The million dollar man Ted DiBiase. Hogans push and stardom in the company was put as number one priority. With that it overshadowed pushes that other superstars could have had in the time, can you imagine a switcheroonie where Savage debuted at Hogans time or Warrior? I do and think that both men had the looks, ability and charisma to go on.

I do have more to say but I thought I'd give Milky a little taster, apologies for last weeks no show, real life kicked me in the nuts.

Could anyone replace Hulk Hogan DURING Hulkamania? The answer is simply No. Once the wave got flowing, there was no breaking the tsunami that was Hulk Hogan, and his Hulkamaniacs. Hulk Hogan, and Hulkamania did many things with the wrestling industry that no man could ever do. Just a few of these things include being the first person to ever connect with the fans, in a form of love instead of respect, with Charisma to say the least, and most importantly, Hulk Hogan was something new, one of a kind. A type of wrestler that no one had seen before.

Hulk Hogan did something that no man was able to do before him in the United States of America. Instead of gaining respect from the fans, such as Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Moralas, Harley Race, Killer Kowalski, and Lou Thesz. Hulk Hogan did more. He connected with the fans, in such a way that no man could do before him. With outstanding Charisma and promo cutting abilities Hulk Hogan awed crouds with unbelief. Hulk Hogan connected with the fans, the fans didn't just respect him. They were infatuation with Hulk Hogan. They damn near worshiped the man.

Don't believe me? Just listen to the pop Hulk Hogan gets here:

Thats something no man throughout the era that is Hulk Hogan could have replicated, by any means whatsoever.

Hulk Hogan was something never seen before. The man was 6'4" tall, weighing in at 300 pounds. With astounding measurements of Biceps 24", Neck 21", Chest 58", Forearm 18", Wrist 9", Calves 20", Thighs 30 1/2", Hands 131/2". While he was no Andre the Giant, he was certainly bigger, and stood taller then men like Harley Race, Killer Kowalski, Ric Flair, etc. Making him an attraction due to his size, such as Andre The Giant, while still being able to wrestle a grappling style such as these 240-260 pound men. He was utter perfection for his time, and day. Anyone else, had allready been seen, done, but Hogan. Hogan was new.

Its argueable without Hulk Hogan, and Hulkamania, the WWE wouldn't have had the money to buy up all the territories, go national, and never would have made it to the global stature they're at today. Hulk Hogan made the WWE more money, than any other man in the history of professional wrestling. Still to this day we see red "Hulkamania" shirts on at wrestling shows. Especially when Hulk Hogan has made a few suprise appearances in a row. Still to this day, the fans are obsessed with this man, Hulk Hogan. For anyone to think that anyone could replace Hulk Hogan Hulk Hogan, after he made his roots during Hulkamania, could use a medical doctor. Indeed.

Clarity Of Argument - Lee, you had bold words before each of your points, and I like that. Milkyway!, your argument was clear as well, but I like bold :D :D :D.

Point: Lee

Punctuality: Milkyway!, you get the point here.

Point: Milkyway!

Informative: Lee, you brought up some interesting points, although your wit and humor is what really got me here. You're to the point, and funny, and I look forward to more from you in next week's debate.

Point: Lee

Emotionality: Milkyway!, something tells me you love Hulk Hogan. I believed what you said, although, in your post, you come off as one of those sheep that Chris Jericho always talks about.

Point: Milkyway!

Persuasion: Milkyway!, your argument was presented perfectly. Yes, I know I'm vain, in that such things as bold can wow me, but, the important point is that I'm giving you the point here, and thus the win.

Point: Milkyway!

tdigle's Score

Lee - 2
Milkyway! - 3

Clarity Of Debate: Unfortuantly we did not get to see more. A debate that really fascinates me, and it could have been a question that was used to crown a champion. Lee, I give you this point here, because yours was cleared to go through.

Punctuality: Already been established, Milk gets this.

Informative: Lee brought up the one point that was by far the best here. Milk, I am not sure all of your information your brought up did much for your argument, and I had hoped that if it continued, there would have been better points.

Emotionality: I thought Milk came in here with the most passion for his argument, and really, the information he tried to use, I feel was more for emotion then for anything else.

Persuasion: At the end of the day, I ready Lees post, and I read Milks post, and I feel that they both made me side with The chance that there could have been another hogan, so Lee gets this point.

TM rates this Lee 3 points to Milk 2.

Clarity: Like Tdigs said, the bold helps with clarity. It helps outline what your points are and what you are arguing.

Point: Lee

Punctuality: Lee was late, Milky get this.

Point: Milkyway

Informative: I think Lee had one of the better points that was said. It is possible to be speculation, but there really is nothing to prove that Atlas couldn't have been the original Hulk, and that Hogan couldn't have taken over.

Point: Lee

Emotionality: Milky always comes in here with great passion. This one seemed like his best because he always defends Hogan everywhere (if memory serves correctly) so he appeared to be in his comfort zone.

Point: Milkyway

Persuasion: I've always ventured on this question, could there have been a different person to take over Hulkamania, whether it was at the start or during. Lee's post was outside the box, but it worked, and it gives him this point.

Point: Lee

CH David scores this Lee 3, Milkyway 2.

Clarity: Busy wanking over the bold, Lee gets the point for that

Point: Lee

Punctuality: Milkyway

Point: Milkyway

Informative: If I am honest, Lee gets the point

Point: Lee

Emotionality: Milky defended Hogan with a feirceness, so well done you

Point: Milkyway

Persuasion: You know, I was in agreement with Milky most of the way, so I gotta give him the point here

Point: Milkyway

I score this round;
Lee: - 2
Milkyway: - 3
