We were all so effin wrong.

EDIT: What THTRobTaylor said I think is true. Now they are using Styles to help teach him and get him jump started again. It's like he's still in development, and he's the WHC champion. Once Rollins, Cena and the rest come back, Roman might just fade to the background.

Taker VERY nearly did in 95-96... He was pretty much a spent force before Mabel botched on him and nearly killed him.

It was almost a "last throw of the dice" throwing Foley at him as Mankind, taking Bearer away from him and it paid off. Vince knew that Nash and Hall were going, and then possibly Bret, so he needed Taker to move up.

Had he not been able to, with the talent available at that time, then someone else like Goldust would have.

Sorry. When I found out Vinces plan was to turn Roman into Cena 2.0, I instantly hated him and I will for the rest of my life. Roman will never win me over. I had to suffer 10 years of Cena burying the entire roster and was excited to finally see him retire or move on to movies.

Then Vince wants to do another 10 years of burying the entire roster? Hell no! I wont stand for it. I will boo Roman until my last dying breath.

Cena was the worst thing that happened to WWE. By him burying everyone, we were left with no stars at all. WWE had to buy up all the indie talent because the roster was filled with people who can never reach Cenas level. I will never understand Vinces idea of only pushing 1 guy.

Screw Roman Reigns!

I've always liked Roman. What I've never been a fan of is his booking and presentation. He's always been a fun guy to watch when he gets to show off his athletic prowess without having to fight like an underdog (e.g. against AJ Styles). I have no issue with him being a top guy in theory. I just wish his road to the top had been handled far better by Creative.

Lately, Roman has been the most enjoyable he's been since shortly after the Shield break-up. He's finally become the brash, take-no-shit ass-kicker that got him over in the first place with the Shield. Unfortunately, it took a year and a half for WWE to make him that guy again, and their mistakes during that time has left him saddled with the stigma of being a less-talented Cena clone. That stigma will be nigh impossible to shake off and will keep Roman hated no matter what he does – save for maybe a full blown heel turn.

first of all how his cena burying the entire roster, really I would love to know how he's been doing that for ten years when the guy has have more 50/50 matches on the rosters then anybody else on the roster. Last year alone, the guy had 5 star matches on a regular based when he could have done squash matches with guy like stardust, zach ryder, neville just to name a few. To me, that's not burying the rosters when thy give the same rosters the exposure to showcase they're talent.

By the way, this type of booking isn't new, by your logic, you shouldn't love guys like hulk hogan, stone cold steve austin, the undertaker, the rock, shawn michaels, hhh and brock lesnar. All these guys buried the entire roster for their entire run. The only reason you truly hate reigns is because vince see potential in this guy as a main event and you can stand it tat it's not your guy that he's pushing.

Why were we wrong? The crowds still boo him, he still is limited in what he can do and the only reason him and AJ are getting pushed is because Cena and Rollins are still out. If they were there, it would be a different scene and while Reigns would probably still be champ, people still wouldn't care. I think Reigns could have potential but that's still a few years away. Right now, he is the company's choice and it shows.

The problem right now his not really reigns himself or that he's the company's choice but that he's the only guy that can fill the gap that cena, orton, rollins and bryan left when they got injured and in the case of bryan, retired. The only other guy that was might have been ready was dean ambrose but if you look at who was more marketable to casual fans at the time, reigns would have won because when you talk to non iwc fans. Fans like kids and families and other casua fansl that don't necessarily follow wrestling 24/7, roman reigns is more appealing to them then ambrose. Their the fans that buy reigns merchandise and live evwnts where reigns is on makes more money then the ones he isn't on. So was he ready to this big push, maybe maybe not but he's their now and the iwc might not like him, but no matter what he's gettig a reaction which is better then 90% of the roster right now and that's what is important because let faceit, fans care about him one way or the other and they will buy his merchs anyway so wwe will continue to push him.

Think this says a lot. Nothing to do with Roman himself, simply what their plan for him was. Didn't even give him a chance before you hated him. Must have been some jump onto that bandwagon!!

What is Roman Reigns character?

1 - Underdog - He's 6-3, 265. 3-time World Champion. Numerous other accomplishments. It's not this.

2 - One versus all - He's constantly getting help from Dean Ambrose and The Usos. It's not this either.

So what is it? Simple. He doesn't have one. That's his downfall. While Rollins and Ambrose have evolved since the Shield split, Reigns is his same old self. That's why he's not over.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin-what was his character?

Underdog- No. Because SCSA never lost clean to anyone, and refused to put anyone over, he constantly came out on top. It was rare when RAW ended with Vince having the last laugh on "Stone Cold".

One versus all- No. Because sometimes the Undertaker, Kane, DX, Mankind or whomever interfered to "square up" in their own feuds.

If you complain about Roman being too dominant, then how can you cheer "Stone Cold" when he was portrayed as an underdog, yet his backstage politics meant that he never left RAW being humbled and having Stunned 15 guys without any offense? What about Brock, he isn't an underdog either.

I'll break this down for you, d_henderson.

Character

Stone Cold - Badass redneck
Roman Reigns - Underdog, one versus all.

Booking

Stone Cold - Drinks beer, curses, defies authority
Roman Reigns - Looks very strong, constantly gets help from the Usos

Reigns' booking contradicts his character while Austin's booking justifies his. Clearly that's a problem for Reigns. Do you understand this?
