Was the ring supposed to break?

It was a work, I remeber reading something that describe how they prepared the ring to fall apart. Think of it this was, with all the bolts and screws, do you think the ring would just collaspe inward? Things would be flying everywhere. But I'm positive it was a work.

Actually watching that vid it does seem the ring post popped out intentionally. However, whats to stop the matches before causing it to break?

Talking about going through the canvas, was the big show vs JBL Steel Cage match 9were he went through the canvas) a work? Its hard to tell.

Seeing as JBL going through the ring would ultimately win him the match, one must assume that him being put through the canvas was the planned finish for the match. If it wasn't, it's great quick thinking and intelligence from both of those guys, but I'm certain it was a work

After watching an extended video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pGDUz8pfY4), isn't there a symbol that the referees make when there is a legitimate injury in the match, or when something has genuinely gone wrong? I think they make an "X" with their arms, or something like that. As you can see if you watch the video, Mike Chioda only does the typical 'worked' arm gesture to bring out the EMTs, which perhaps signifies that it was all just a work. Surely if it wasn't a work he would have reacted differently? He seemed to know what he was doing. It's the same with Michael Cole - he seemed to know that something major was going to happen before it imploded, and afterwards he seemed like he knew it was going to happen all along. Maybe I'm wrong but what do you think?

The ref's do normally throw up an X when there is a legitimate injury, but lately, they have been using that as a work too. If I remember correctly, the referee during the Sabu Vs. Rey Mysterio match at ONS 2 threw up the X. Yes, sadly, I bought ons 2. sigh.

The ring was setup to break like that. The posts were all on a switch. I remember reading about it on an Insider wrestling website about the time it happened.

To me, it definitely seemed like an angle to put over

a) How big and heavy with big show truly is that his weight (plus Lesnars) can destroy the ring

and

b) Show how strong Lesnar was to lift him up that high for the Suplex

Yea that was definetly a work but to bad they decided to do it for brock lesnar seeing as though he is gone and probably wont be back. Im sure they wish they used someone else to give them a push but Lesnar was good while he was there.

it was a work cause if you look at the rumble matches or survivor series matches there are somtimes some magor weight in the ring, and the point about the ref not making the x and calling for emt's is a good point

it could not be real, because even with the force of big show and lesnar comming down, it would and should not collapse. If u remember in ECW, they had a bunch of fans in the ring and that was about 50, thats about 25x more weight to make it collapse. It was defidently not real

It was a work. and heres the obvious....The big show going up to the turnbcukle to do a superplex on Smackdown! not even on a payperview??? i mean c'mon how often has anyone seen the big show do that. Secondly there is a way to make sure the ring wouldnt break during the earlier parts of the show is simple. wether it was hydralics or sum other device (which it was) go back and watch that whole smackdown if anyone has it and u will notice there really werent to many big moves during that show. Also if all they had to do was loosen several screws and remove a cable undernieth the ring. trust me they could do. wwe has about 15 - 20 guys to set up the ring. and if u get a handful or a few more down there during a commercial break it can be done. not to mention smackdown is taped so they could take as much time as they needed.
