Was Shawn Micheals the John Cena of the 90's

I ask this because I had a debate with someone about how john and shawn had simlar reigns on top.

They said the things they had in common is they were both love by kids and women when they were on top and hated by the men and rating were down when they were on top.

I brought up how john reigns lasted longer than shawn and that shawn was a better wrestler than john and he brought up shawn was short because vince had to find a new top star at the time because wcw was killing him in the ratings at the time.

Hell No... HBK wasn't a around for 4 years of the 90's.. if anything.. Bret Hart/Hulk Hogan are a better comparison since they did rule much of the 90's on top.
